Will and I continued our hunt through the days, talking a lot about the situation, and also pursuing our own clues in our free time. I couldn't find Urho among the dead, which meant that he is either alive or was so massacred that I didn't recognize him.
I tried to locate that guy knowing that he and both Ylva, and Bård, used to hunt together. The problem was, I couldn't find him at all. Will also couldn't find people connected to those whom he recognized.
We decided to visit Hatta and talk with him about the matter. He assured us that he is aware of the situation, and is looking into it.
After two days Blue returned and also started to dig around. Then we found out that around two months ago a bunch of people who weren't really friendly with each other, suddenly started to hut together. Even though, we still didn't know the reason.
The whole investigation came to a halt as we all reached a dead end. Only Daniel seemed to have something still worth pursuing, but every time I tried to contact him, I only got vague information that he doesn't have anything yet, and I need to give him a little bit more time
Hatta on the other hand came to a conclusion that the deaths ended the whole thing, and we don't have to worry about it anymore. He couldn't explain where are missing people though.
The fact was we didn't find anything, plus there were no new incidents of anybody clearing the hunting grounds at night, which brought me to just focusing on my spots, and earning more class points which I needed for the upcoming travel to Loistavadvaar.
I've earned 90 367 000 more points and 12 class ones. With that, I also upgraded 'Shadow baron' to 'Shadow Viscount', which gave me access to the following skills: 'Void essence II', 'Shadow summoning II', 'Void authority II', 'Shadow shape', 'Shadow mark'.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt'Shadow shape' was allowing me to change the bodies of shadows I summoned. Now I could make them not look like human silhouettes, but animals for example. Making them smaller was easy, bigger on the other hand almost impossible since the spiteful thoughts couldn't handle more void essence if they weren't strong enough.
Thankfully 'Shadow summoning II' allowed me to pull stronger ones from The Void. I called them Shadow champions since they came basically as over two meters tall, buff versions of their smaller family members.
'Shadow mark' on the other hand allowed me to create an object of any shape out of void essence. It could be something small, like a coin, or thinner than a piece of paper dot, looking like a mole on someone's body. I could hear and see through it.
Obviously, I upgraded all my skills to the maximum level available, which for the second-tier class was usually six, with few exceptions, like for example 'Void essence II', which I could upgrade two hundred times - and I did.
All of that took only 446 444 000 from my account. Now I could summon 2048 regular shadows or a bit over two hundred champions, which by itself was worth it. On top of that, I could now also unlock the third tier named 'Prince of shadows'.
I got another step closer to my goal but still couldn't get rid of the curiosity about what was going on in the city. Maybe it was my subconsciousness or experience, but I knew that something bad was coming.
That's what was going on in my head as I was eating my meal in the cafeteria on the last day of hunting with Will. Not for long though, as I was distracted by Brutus and Nadzieja, who suddenly sat together few spots from me, completely consumed by their conversation. They didn't even notice me as they were sitting with their food.
Which by the way they didn't even touch so focused on talking.
- And that's why we need more arrows - she finished a longer sentence.
- I can provide you with some, but Wuxia is not the sponsor for the academy. Not to mention our budget is very tight with the recent equipment changes.
- Your soldiers can manage even without that, and my students need arrows to practice. They don't have the access to the crystals like you do. Don't be a scum, Brutus.
He chuckled.
- Said a woman who is bullying an old man.
- I wouldn't bully you if the cause wasn't worth it - she winked at him. - If we finally would have somebody in charge of this whole project, it would be way easier.
- Wasn't William in charge?
- He was selected, but neither your boss nor I got the answer from him yet.
- I'm sure he is going to agree soon. Maybe he has some matters to deal with first?
- Maybe, but we need him now and the funds.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm- I'll talk to him - he put his hand on hers.
- I would appreciate that. I have my hands full with kids, so I don't even have time to look for him.
- How are the kids doing?
- Oh, you know. It's a new situation for them. They are in a new place that works completely different from what they are used to, and they don't even have anybody to rely on.
- They have you.
- Yes, but I'm not their family. It takes time to build trust. I'm trying, but there is only so much I can do - she looked concerned to me saying those words.
- I'm sure they will be fine.
- Of course, they will, but they are struggling a lot right now. This means we don't need any additional problems with lacking equipment.
- I'll try to help.
I smiled to myself. It was nice to see them like that. I decided to give them a little donation the very next day, to help with the problems.
I didn't want to spy on them anymore, so I quickly finished my food, and left.
This period of time came to an end with 1 446 034 949 points remaining on my account, and 6 class points.
