"It seems like you'll need all that you've learned in Daros for what's to come." Halys cleared his throat. He propped his elbows onto the table as his hands folded together. Keng and Calis turned to him, devoting their whole attention as Halys continued. "In the two months you've been gone, a lot has happen. I'm pretty sure Chrono, Valen and Fennec told you that much." Keng and Calis both nodded in unison.
"Well, there's only really bad news, so listen closely you two." Halys leaned forward. The holographic screen turned on and news headlines sprawled across the screen.
Missing? Where did the Creator's son go?
Where is Lee Seng Chang?
A City Wide Search Gives Nothing!
Search Expanded to Nearby States? Will we Find the Creator's Son?
Keng's mouth dropped as he stood up. His eyes quickly read through the headlines. Halys and the others watched him as Keng gulped. He turned away, muttering to himself. Calis watched as Keng turned and sat. The whole room had gone awkwardly quiet.
"So…." Valen broke the awkward silence. His eyes looking at his comrades as they all silently gave each other "I don't know what to say" looks. "I know it's not the thing you wanted to be told but…"
"It makes sense." Keng slowly nodded. His eyes moved back to the screen of headlines as he nodded. His eyes landed on Halys and the shock slowly faded and was replaced with some profound confidience unknown to the group. "Th-this makes sense, honestly. That would explain why Lee Seng's been in Limbo for the last couple of months."
"He's in Limbo?!?" Valen asked loudly.
"Valen!" Chrono hissed. "Sit down!" She pulled the Fox Spirit down onto his seat as the others began to whisper.
"How do you know? I thought you were split from him. From the time Chrono found you free falling through the air til now, how would you be able to know that? There were even measures in place in case you actually left Daros to Earth." Halys asked.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Well, Lee Seng and I did get some strange skills… About an Earth month ago, I guess? Anyways, it's why I can physically be here. I have half of our souls while he has the other half. In return, we can't really combine permanently…" Keng's voice trailed off as thoughts of the Demon Fox Spirit came into his head.
"Wouldn't that make the Fox's curse useless against them?" Ysa looked over at Halys. Halys shrugged.
"There's very little we even know about it." Victoria spoke up. "If what Keng says is really true, then why are they still getting the nightmares?"
"That's what I was thinking, too!" Members of the group began to chime in. Chatter grew as they all began to theorize why the curse was even progressing then. Halys lifted a hand after much thought, hushing the group with a single motion. They all turned their attention to him as he looked at Keng.
"What does this skill have to do with knowing Lee Seng was in Limbo?" Halys asked.
"It allows us to track each other. Well, not really track, but I know where he is." Keng replied.
"Do you know where he is now?" Fennec asked.
"Mmmm…" Keng focused in on that background feel. He could feel himself pulling away, almost, and then it suddenly stopped. Keng stood up and turned to look at the door.
"What?" Chrono asked. "Do you know where he is?"
"He's in Captiol City?" Keng whispered.
"He's here, too?" Valen asked. Keng turned, catching Calis's curious glance as he turned his attention to the older Foxes.
"He's here, but…" Keng clutched at his head.
"What's wrong, Savior?" Calis stood up, grabbing Keng as he fell. Keng's heavy breaths grew loud as the Foxes stood up.
"He's…" Keng quietly whispered.
"Hmm?" Calis leaned in closer. Keng's eyes dropped as his body went slack. The group shouted as Calis called Keng's name.
Images of Lee Seng being dragged somewhere dark flooded Keng's mind. He watched as someone just out of reach of sight pulled Lee Seng with ease. Lee Seng eventually was pulled into a small room and left on the floor as the person left, closing the door.
The point of view shifted, pointing directly at an unconscious Lee Seng. Lights flicked on as white tile and padded walls filled into the space. A groan escaped Lee Seng's mouth as his eyes moved behind his eyelids.
"Argh…" Lee Seng clutched his head. He shook his head slowly as his eyes slowly opened. "What the hell happened…?" Purple eyes stared directly up at Keng as a smile grew on his face. "Hahaha! I'm back!"
"Noo!" Keng shouted, shooting himself into the air.
"Savior!" Calis shouted, standing. Keng landed on his feet, looking around the room. He seemed to be in a hospital room. He looked around, noticing there wasn't a window. Calis was standing in the corner, nervously watching him as Keng spun around. "Savior, it's alright! You're okay!" Calis grabbed Keng and pulled his attention to him.
"No, it's not okay! That evil thing is back! I have — I have to go!" Keng shouted. For the amount of Keng was using to try to break out of Calis's grasp, Calis held on quite well. The door threw open as Victoria, Chrono and Ysa ran into the room.
"What's wrong?" Victoria asked as the three women surrounded Keng.
"He just suddenly shot out of bed." Calis informed them.
"Let go of me! I need to find him!" Keng shouted.
"Hey, hey, hey!" Ysa grabbed at Keng. Calis's grip was too much, forcing him to shove the group away from him. The medical equpiment slammed against the wall as the bed flipped, planting itself directly on the wall. Calis slammed into the chair while the three women fell onto the ground.
"He's in trouble!" Keng turned rushing for the door. Chrono's body enveloped in white energy, appearing in front of Keng as a hand popped in front of Keng's face. "Get aw—"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Hold." Chrono spoke. Keng's body stopped, freezing in place as Chrono's tails whipped behind her.
"What's happening?!?" Valen asked, sliding past the door. "Chro, why did you use your powers on him? Isn't it—"
"Tell us what happened, Keng." Chrono lowered her hand. "Who do you have to save? Lee Seng? Why?" Keng felt the energy release from his mouth. He wanted to scream to get out of his way, but Chrono had purposely planted herself between him and the door.
"I saw Lee Seng! He's in a padded room! He's a prisoner and that purple-eyed entity has taken over! I need to save him!" Keng shouted. "Let me go!"
"And how do you suppose we find him?" Ysa asked, standing. "If you step outside and someone see's you, they'll think you're him!"
"But I'm not!"
"Your face might've changed a bit, but you still look very much like him." Chrono agreed with Ysa. "You need to stick to the plan."
"What plan? You never said anything about—"
"You'll have to take on the role of Lee Seng for a bit." Halys's voice came from behind Chrono. Valen stepped away as Halys took up behind Chrono. "Let me through and let him go." Chrono stepped away, releasing the hold on Keng. Keng's body jerked forward, finishing his run. He bumped directly into Halys, toppling backwards as Calis caught him, again.
"Let me go!" Keng swung at Calis. Calis released Keng and stepped away. Keng glared at Calis before drawing his glare to everyone else in the room. "I don't care about your plan. I'll save him and make everything right again."
"You will not do anything, but the task assigned to you." Halys stepped forward. Halys's energy went straight for Keng, who pushed through it and towards the General. Chrono sighed and lifted her hand, freezing Keng in place, again. "You have no idea where he is. You probably only had a nightmare. Nothing more, nothing less. Lee Seng may be here, but he's been gone for two whole months.
"He wouldn't just show back up, breaking the gods' orders like an idiot. Listen to what I have to say and if you behave, I'll let you get out of this place. Got it?" Halys raised his eyebrows at Keng, waiting for him to do something. Chrono lowered her hand, letting Keng go.
"Fine." Keng spoke after a long pause. "What's your dumb plan?" He pouted like a little child. Halys crossed his arms and ignored Keng's childish behavior.
"You'll take on the role of Lee Seng for now." Halys began.
"What?" Keng groaned.
"And you'll do it just long enough to gather information." Halys stuck his hand out. Keng bit his lip and waited for Halys to continue. "You'll gather information on your side as Lee Seng. Lee Seng has a lot of access and wiggle room that our people can't even have. I need you to work with us to get this done. And that means you'll have to have Calis join you."
