Keng turned away from Manny and looked at the others. They all had different reactions to the bombshell Keng just let go. Even though he had said what Lee Seng had desperately wanted to say, he couldn't help but feel a bit sad. The group seemed shocked at what came out of Keng's mouth. Liz being the most surprised at it all. Her eyes drifted towards Manny who kept his head down. Manny was fighting something inside of himself while Olivia and Evan kept themselves busy with looking around. These two didn't want to get into anyone's business. They didn't think it was right for them to say much.
Ritsuka, on the other hand, stared at Keng in disbelief. He had said so much in that amount of time and Ritsuka almost thought another bomb shell couldn't go off, but it still managed to go off. Ritsuka couldn't help but look at Keng, wondering how much Lee Seng had endured and maybe even faked with their friendship.
'Are we… Really friends?' Ritsuka wondered. He couldn't help but wonder it. He had learned of Lee Seng's secret by mistake and thought they two had grown closer due to having the same school schedule. His mind began to fall into the same pit it always had – overthinking. 'Did he keep me around just because… I knew?'
Keng could tell something was wrong with Ritsuka. He seemed the most upset out of this whole ordeal. He turned away, unsure on what to do.
'Lee Seng should've said this. Not me.' Keng thought to himself. 'It wasn't right of me to do that…' He licked his lips and turned to look at the tunnel he had stepped into. He needed to busy himself and the time he used to get everyone's memories back was sinking into their time within the dungeon. The path was half caved in and honestly, he was shocked the ant monster had even gotten out of their in a jiffy.
'Speaking of the bug…' His eyes scanned the area for the bug. It was ripped in half, tossed in different directions. He frowned at it, smelling the growing death and acid smell that came off it. Keng covered his nose, pinching it as he turned to look at Ritsuka and the others.
"What now?" Liz asked. She had moved to stand besides Manny, who was still kneeling. The others seemed to snap out of their thoughts. They all looked at Liz who gave them a good long look. "Do we go back up or do we traverse one of the tunnels?"
"I don't have much energy." Keng answered.
"Tunnel it is." Evan spoke up.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Come on." Liz tugged Manny's coat. Manny sluggishly stood up, making sure his gaze didn't accidentally connect with Keng's. Keng gulped and looked over to Olivia and Evan as they ushered Ritsuka over to him.
"Come on, Keng." Evan gave a small smile with a nod. "Let's go."
"Mmm." Keng nodded.
The group ended up taking a random path. It was dark and with Keng's help, they could see the space around them. The silver lights danced with the Fox Fire wisps. They danced in sync as Keng was naturally pushed to the front to scout.
'Is it better this way?' Keng thought. He held one of the paired wisp and light balls in his left hand as he scanned for any danger ahead of the group. 'I'm going to need help finding Lee Seng and rejoining him, but… I still feel like I did something wrong.' Keng glanced behind him. Liz was quietly whispering to Manny about what just happened. Manny didn't say much and nodded occasionally while Evan and Olivia kept with a silent Ritsuka trailing behind them.
Keng turned his head to look forwards and quietly sighed. The farthest pair of ball and wisp flared for a moment before growing small. The other pairs stopped as the pair floating above Keng's hand flared. The silver halo in his eyes swirled for a moment as he came to a stop.
The pairs behind Keng flared, drawing the attention of the rest of the group. They all came to a stop as Keng stared into the barely lit abyss ahead of them. Ritsuka bit his lip as they listened. The quiet flicker of wisps filled their ears and then Keng heard it. It was faint but it sounded like something was sizzling. He glanced down and pointed at the spot. A silver mark appeared as he looked further down the path and another one appeared.
"Stay here for a moment." Keng told the group. Keng blinked, leaving a body of fading light in his spot, appearing at the furthest mark. The mark burned away, and the sound of sizzling grew louder. Keng lifted his pair of wisps and light and pushed them forward. The pairs around him flew forward, slowly revealing whatever was ahead of them. Rocks slowly burned away as a liquid film of putrid water covered the walls and floors. Keng shook his head, immediately stopping the wisps.
'Fire won't do us well here.' Keng pulled the wisps and lights back to him. They bundled behind him, filling the space as he turned. Clicks and cries echoed throughout as Keng cursed under his breath.
"They're here!" Keng shouted. The wisps and lights split allowing their master to blink back to his original spot. "Evan, how much kinetic energy can your shield absorb?"
"Uh… Why?" Evan stuttered. Keng turned and pointed at the bundled lights and wisps.
"The ants are here. The tunnel is filled with explosive acid." Keng told them.
"Shouldn't we run then? It's safer that way."
"But we walked for a while." Liz looked at her watch. "Twenty-four minutes. We aren't going to make it in that time." Screams and acid flew out. The cave shook as the acid connected with some wisps, exploding in an instant. The group screamed as Keng through up a rough barrier. The barrier shook as Keng listened to the scattering of ant feet hitting the ground.
"We're gonna get hit!" Keng shouted.
"Evan do it!" Olivia shouted. Evan bit his cheek and ran forward, summoning his shield.
"Are you sure we'll be fine?" Evan asked.
"I can keep us afloat!"
"But your—"
"Just do it." Manny ordered. Evan looked back and nodded.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Clump together. I can't make it spacious enough for all of us." Evan told them. They scooted together. Evan grew the shield wrapping it around them as the first strikes of ants made the shield flare. Evan gritted his teeth. "They're already here!"
"Just keep doing it." Manny told him. He looked over at Keng. "You deal with them in the meantime." Keng glanced at Manny. "I'm talking to you. You have Lee Seng's abilities, right? This should be no problem for you."
"I can't see where I'm hitting." Keng told him. "You want me to accidentally blow us all up?" More explosions rattled the cave as the group huddled closer together. Manny continued to coldly glare at Keng. Keng raised his hand. Hydrosphere appeared in his hand as he pointed at the front. "No gaurentees."
"What're you doing?" Liz asked. "How are you going to hit any of them? You'll kill us before you kill them!" The orb fully closed, encasing them in a yellow orb. Keng connected the tip to the front of the shield and closed his eyes. The cosmic aura wrapped around him. His tails grew into a starry pattern as a Silver and Golden light burned at the center of each tail. Keng let out a sigh as Hydrosphere lit up.
"Resonance." Keng whispered. Blue and silver energy fluttered off Keng as he pushed the energy forward. The blue and silver energy clashed with the kinetic ball shield. The two energies sparkring as Keng tilted his head, biting his lip.
'Come on.' Keng thought. He could feel the two energies clashing with each other. The kinetic shield didn't want his energy. It was too much for the shield to take. 'Just a single point will do.' Blue and silver energy stopped whipping as Keng let out a breath. He opened his eyes to see the point which Hydrosphere and the kinetic shield connected was lit in blue and silver light.
'Go.' Keng ordered the wisps. The wisps flew forward, slamming against the acidic walls. Explosions erupted, pushing ants in every direction as a cosmic film wrapped on the inside of the kinetic ball.
"Resonance: Dragon's Rage." A burst of energy flew out of the single point, swirling into a large dragon as it pushed against the explosive energy. It bit and ate the ants as it quickly burnt away the watery skin. A silver and black star dragon ripped forward shattering everything in its path as Keng's breathing grew louder and rapid.
"Keng!" Ritsuka called out. He shifted in his spot, making it a bit more uncomfortable for everyone else. "Are you okay?" Keng grunted as his eyes glowed brightly.
