"Evan!" Ritsuka shouted. Evan glanced over to his left and noticed Ritsuka jogging over to him. "Are you okay? I heard a bunch of loud noises and came to check!" Evan eyed the kinetic wall while Ritsuka turned to look.
"I hope the Deimon's dead." Evan commented.
"You fought a Deimon?" Ritsuka asked. Evan nodded, releasing the helmet part. He let out a sigh like he had been holding his breath. "Did you find Mrs. Teresa and the others?"
"I found Mrs. Teresa… She was fighting the Deimon when I got up there." Evan pointed upwards. Ritsuka turned and realized the library wall was broken and in shambles.
"Is she safe?"
"Yeah."
"Well, Manny, Liz, and I split off to find people. It looks like they're all going to a safety point. I'm just making sure there isn't anyone else out here."
Evan's eyes pulled away from the kinetic wall, releasing the wall. The Deimon groaned as it tried to move. Ritsuka immediately pointed Obsidian Glass at the Deimon.
"Defense is your biggest strength…?" The Deimon snickered. "It didn't even kill me…" Ritsuka raised his blade to finish the Deimon off, but Evan stopped him.
"Hold on." Evan told Ritsuka. Ritsuka looked over to his friend, watching him move past and stand near the Deimon. "Tell me something, Deimon. Do you know of the Perfect Singular borne right in this very city? Do you know if he's dead or not?" The Deimon raised his head up to Evan and looked at him oddly before realizing what he meant.
"Hmph, I guess the Biohumans must know all about him then." The Deimon scoffed. "It's too bad I'm not the only Deimon here… or anywhere else for that matter… Even if you don't know where he is… We'll find him… and when we do, it's only a matter of time before he's on our side."
"I beg to differ." Evan crouched. "What if I told you that very person you're looking for… is here?" The Deimon's eyes widened. Before he could say anything, Obsidian Glass slashed the Deimon's head off. The fear left itself plastered on him.
"Did you have to do that?" Ritsuka asked.
"He was so confident he could win against me - a Tank." Evan stood up and wiped the blood off his face. "It's like some of these Deimons actually think becoming one is better than being a Biohuman. It's already hard as it is… Why make it harder?"
"Well, as long as he's dead." Ritsuka sighed. "The first floor and the outside have been cleared. WE just have the second floor and I think the twins and Olivia are up there."
"We should find everyone and help them out as much as we can." Evan sighed. The armor dimmed on him and his weapons disappeared.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"I see the training worked out though?" Ritsuka raised an eyebrow. He eyed the armor and Evan nodded. He patted the armor and smiled.
"All of that training just to get this. Who knew I could boost my offensive capabilities with this."
"C'mon." Ritsuka swung Obsidian Glass into his opposite hand and slung an arm around Evan. "You did well.
Lee Seng jumped up to the second floor. Keng split from Lee Seng and quickly rushed over to Olivia and the injured man.
"Are you okay?" Keng asked Olivia and the butler.
"Seen better days." Olivia responded. "But he's out of the danger zone. If only we had a healer healer."
"Manny." Lee Seng touched his bracelet.
"Yo! Never thought about using this thing again." Manny responded. "What's up? Everything alright? I heard a lotta noises!"
"Fine now. Need your healing on the second floor."
"Alright. Scan the second floor for anymore survivors. The headlight and shadow monsters are thinning out. I think we might be okay."
"Roger." Lee Seng turned and began to check the doors where he had come from. He scanned each room, eventually moving past the staircase and checking the opposite side. Lee Seng pushed each door open and checked. Nothing. He stepped out and turned left to go further when a woman poked her head out from the last door on the left.
"Hey, lady." Lee Seng spoke up. She turned, jerking for a moment before realizing Lee Seng wasn't one of the monsters. He threw his hands up and pulled his tails together. "I'm not a monster. I'm one of Evan's friends. We're just trying to get everyone out of here. Is there any injured in there?"
"Just me." The woman responded. She fully stepped out and looked to her left. "I hope the young master is okay…"
"Young Master? Evan? He's out there?" Lee Seng asked. The woman nodded.
"He came straight for me but ended up bringing the fight outside… Oh, the mansion is in bits… People are all over the place… Ah, what am I to do?"
"For now, I think we should get you guys to a safe place. Butler Jonas said you'd know where the safe point would be."
"Ah, you met Jonas." The woman sighed in relief. "I'm Head Maid Teresa. Don't worry about me, dear. Master Evan said his friends were nice, especially you."
"You know me? Is it from the letters?"
"Jonas told you that, too?" Teresa smiled. She walked over and stuck her hand out. "It's a pleasure." Lee Seng nodded and shook her hand. He could tell she was one of 'light.' A rare attribute many people didn't have in this world.
"A holy attribute user." Lee Seng whispered.
"You can tell? Perceptive one. Master Evan said you were the most interesting amongst the group." Teresa smiled.
"Where are they?" Manny shouted, climbing to the top of the stairs.
"Over here!" Keng waved. Manny moved towards the injured while Liz landed at the top a few seconds after.
"I guess all of your friends are here. We should go join them." Teresa motioned.
"I wanted to check this side of the house for survivors. Someone could be hiding." Lee Seng told the Head Maid.
"I don't sense anyone. If I did, they would've noticed me by now. Come, dear." Lee Seng and Teresa rejoined the group. Manny took care of the butler while Olivia watched.
"What happened here?" Manny asked taking a peek behind Keng.
"A Deimon." Keng answered.
"One who made a pact with a Failed One." Lee Seng added.
"What? How? Those are locked deep underground the lab."
"To be determined." Lee Seng leaned against the wall. "No more survivors?"
"Some injured, some just fine. Some putting up a good fight." Liz answered Lee Seng's question.
"The Trainor staff knows how to take care of themselves. There's vigorous training for everyone. Fighters and Glass members tend to have more training in case of burglaries or ruffians thinking the house is an easy target." Teresa told them.
"Who's this?" Liz asked.
"Head Maid Teresa." Lee Seng introduced her. The Head Maid smiled and nodded.
"Master Evan has told us so much about all of you. I'm glad he has friends who lift him up. To think the timid boy wouldn't dare fight back… now he's protecting me." She wiped a tear as Manny pulled away from the butler.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Done. You feel better, sir?" Manny asked.
"T-thanks. That Wolf took me by surprise… I thought I was going to die!" The butler nodded profusely.
"C'mon, dear. We should join the others." Teresa motioned. The butler stood up and nodded.
"What of Master's friends?" The butler asked.
"We only came because of Evan." Olivia answered. "Once we find him, we'll make our way into the city."
"I wouldn't go there." The butler shook his head, rejoining Teresa. Lee Seng moved to stand next to Keng, folding his arms as Manny healed Olivia.
"Why?" Liz asked. The butler turned to look at Liz and then the others.
"It's been nothing but loud in my head ever since the attacks happened." The butler tapped his head. "People are saying the attacks are all over the place. The safe havens are quickly filling and a lot of them are being attacked."
"Butler Michael can intercept electronic waves. He's good at telling when something's happening. Even from afar." Teresa explained. "It causes him to be overloaded thus catching him by surprise with attackers."
"You shouldn't go into the city. It's dangerous." The Butler insisted.
"We have to go there, unfortunately." Lee Seng sighed. "I got some unfinished business."
"And… I'd like to check on some family." Ritsuka added. They turned and noticed Ritsuka with Evan.
"Master Evan! You're okay!" Teresa and Butler Michael moved over to Evan. Teresa hugged Evan leaving Ritsuka to awkwardly move to the side. "I feared for your life and watched from afar! I couldn't leave you to be!"
"I'm okay." Evan smiled. He hugged Teresa back.
"There." Manny stood up.
"Thanks." Olivia stood up.
"You wanna see your family?" Liz asked Ritsuka.
"I have a feeling I know where they'll be." Ritsuka answered. "But most of them will be trying to protect the city. If we find them on the way, better for us."
"But the Deimons are all over the place." Evan continued. "I just fought one."
"Same. Mine made a pact with a Failed One."
"A failed what?"
"A failed experiment form the days before the Biohuman serum was made. I think… I have a inkling this is going to be a reoccurring theme." Lee Seng sighed.
