“Soon. I’ll be going home in a few days.”

Doesn’t that mean I’ll get the phone very soon? Wow, I’ll be the third person in the country to get

a Dragon. Just thinking about it is exciting. When the time comes, I’ll take my phone out every day at

work. They’ll all be jealous to bits when they see it!”

Caroline smiled as she put Gwen’s phone back in its box.

“Carol, did you get gifts for your new colleagues?”

Caroline was just about to answer when Kirk opened the door and came in.

Caroline greeted Kirk and continued chatting with Gwen.

“I haven’t decided yet. I asked about it yesterday and found out that most of the staff at the design

department are women. I think I should probably buy makeup?”

Kirk looked at Caroline, who was so invested in chatting with Gwen. It only annoyed him more.

He walked to the coffee table and purposely made some noise.

But Caroline didn’t even react. “For men, I’d probably buy them game consoles.”

Gwen replied, “Actually, I think you would be very respected if you could give them each a Dragon

phone.”

“I want to too. But didn’t you say there aren’t many of these phones? I might not even be able to get

them overseas. The design department has dozens of people. Where am I supposed to get that many

phones?”

Gwen put her chin in her palm. “That’s right. I guess you’d better give them makeup and game

consoles?”

“Yeah.”

Caroline and Gwen chatted for a while longer before ending the call.

When she turned back, Caroline excitedly went to tell Kirk about the president of the SY Group.

“What’s up with you?” Caroline approached and leaned on Kirk’s arm.

Kirk angled his body away, putting distance between himself and Caroline. “You went out today.

“Yes Caroline nodded happily. “And I saw the president of SY Group too!”

Kirk kicked the coffee table, his expression the same. “You like him that much?”

Caroline got up and cleared up the messy table. “Yes, you’ve got me. I think he’s a perfect man.

He’s considerate, gentlemanly, and has amazing business acumen. How could there be such a

perfect man in the world?”

When Caroline turned to look at Kirk, her eyes met his straight on.

Kirk felt like there was a thorn in his heart. He forced out, “Since he’s so perfect, why don’t you

marry him?”

Even Kirk himself was stunned by his own words.

Caroline was surprised as well. “What’s wrong with you?”

Kirk clenched his fists and thinned his lips. There was a teasing edge to his voice.

“He’s the president of the SY Group. With him, you get to enjoy luxuries and riches. You’ll be

chauffeured in luxury cars and be able to buy whatever bags and clothes you want. And he’s so

perfect, so he’ll definitely be a great hus-”

Caroline’s expression turned icy. “So in your eyes, I’m just a gold digger?”

Sweat trickled down Kirk’s back. “That’s not what I meant.”

“Then what did you mean?” Caroline smiled. “I thought we’d come to understand each other after

all the time we’ve spent together. It seems that was a one–sided wish.”

With that, Caroline turned and walked into her bedroom.

She locked the door.

She didn’t want to see Kirk’s face anymore.

Looking at the tightly shut door, Kirk’s heart turned into a mess.

He lifted a hand and hesitated. In the end, he didn’t knock.

He walked out the door and called Charles. “Send Caroline her dinner. Also, ask Jules Hawkins how

many people are in the design department. Prepare the same amount of phones.”

It took Charles a long time to react. It seemed like Kirk was preparing the phones for Caroline.

After all, Jules was only the CEO of one of SY Group’s branches. He wasn’t important enough for Kirk

to go to such lengths.
