Chapter 614 The Fish On The Hook
“I know that Ms. Lane just called you away, and I’m also aware that since you arrived at the hospital,
there have been 18 patients seeking your attention and six doctors interested, including Isaac.”
“I’m also aware that, in the eyes of others, Zachary is your husband.”
“And…”
Before he could finish, Cherise turned with a flushed face and seethed, “If you have something to say,
say it in my office!”
A group of patients and their families huddled around the nurse’s station, straining to overhear the
conversation.
These gossipy nurses!
Do they keep track of how many patients and doctors are seeking her attention?
Don’t they have anything better to do?
Damien gracefully entered Cherise’s office behind her, suppressing a chuckle.

Lucy was engrossed in a medical journal in the office.
Lucy nearly whistled in surprise as Cherise and Damien walked into the office one after the other.
The doctor beside her looked at Lucy confusedly and asked, “Dr. Staber, is something wrong?”
“Nothing.” She stifled her laughter.
Lucy stood up and scanned the young doctors who had just started their internships. “Who mentioned
wanting to visit Maeye?”
A row of young doctors raised their hands simultaneously.
Maeve’s condition was unique, and though no one openly admitted it, they were all intrigued by this
patient.
“Let’s go! I’ll take you to see her!”.

As she passed Damien, Lucy smiled and remarked, “To ensure your privacy, I must sacrifice. your
sister.”
Damien chuckled sofily and responded, “She would be more than happy.”
Lucy scoffed and left with the group of young doctors.
In an instant, the office was left with only Cherise and Damien.
She closed the office door, turned, and looked at Damien, “Were you just asking the nurses about me?”
“What else would there be?”
He raised a smile, “I’m not interested in them.”
Cherise’s voice froze in her throat.
Although she always believed there was no connection between them, hearing Damien say that
invoked warmth in her heart.
She pursed her lips and scoffed. “What else did they tell you?”
“Quite a fair bit.”
Damien settled into Cherise’s chair, casually flipping through the files on her desk before glancing at
her computer desktop.

Damien looked at her and chuckled, “Who said she doesn’t read s now?”
Cherise was surprised as she remembered discovering an online during a boring night shift.
She saved a bookmark on the desktop for easy accessibility.
Her face flushed as she hurriedly grabbed the mouse to delete the icon.
Damien sat there leisurely, watching her, “Right, it should be deleted.”
“Otherwise, it might harm your image if people discovered that the usually serious and scholarly Dr.
Shaw reads romance s during work hours.”

Cherise’s words caught in her throat.
Everyone knows that she loves romance s. What’s wrong with that?
She took a deep breath and asserted, “Mr. Lenoir, I thought you came here to discuss serious. matters
with me.”
Damien smiled faintly, “I want to discuss serious matters with you.”
He glanced at my phone, “The fish is on the hook.”
