Chapter 715 What Took Him So Long?
“I know the person who signed a year-long contract with Lucy.”
“You do? Who is he?”
A lengthy silence ensued on the other end of the line. After a long time, Damien’s deep voice broke the
silence again. “Promise me you’ll stay calm when I tell you.”
Cherise was baffled. “It can’t possibly be…”
“It’s Lennon.”
Cherise was dumbstruck. “Has he lost his mind?” Cherise gripped her phone tightly in a fit of anger.
“What took him so long?”
“Lucy gave up everything to follow him back then, and he was the one who pushed her away. He even
claimed he never wanted to see her again. What is he playing at now?”
“Did he only realize his mistake after they parted ways?” Cherise grew angrier as she continued. “He

“Mm.” Damien sighed lightly, “Cherise.” His voice was deep and earnest. “I consider myself fortunate
that you’re willing to give me another chance.”
Cherise’s grip on the phone tightened. She was momentarily taken aback before she realized that it
also applied to Damien.
“I regretted it on the third day after our breakup. Standing atop the towering Lenoir Group building,
Damien gazed at the bustling cityscape beyond the full-length windows.
“But you had already left.” His voice was soft and wistful. I assumed you were deeply disappointed in
me, and I thought our story had ended.”
“You were my first love and my first relationship. I always heard people say that feelings fade and are
forgotten over time. I thought I could eventually let go.
“But I didn’t realize how deeply you had taken root in my heart. On the third day after you left, my
longing for you intensified every day to the point where I couldn’t sleep at night. You were all I saw
when I closed my eyes.”
“I began searching for you and scoured all the places you might have gone…”
The midday sun streamed in through the full-length windows. The sunlight reflected on Cherise’s face,
and its warmth made her sluggish. Leaning back in the genuine leather chair in the café, she closed
her eyes. She listened to the man on the other end of the phone speak passionately about his longing
and yearning for her over the years.
It was a pleasant feeling. The man’s yearning on the phone stirred something within her.
As it turned out, she wasn’t the only one who had suffered over the past five years. Damien had also
yearned and thought of her when she was missing him.

“Damien.” The woman smiled. She held the phone with one hand and stirred her coffee on the table
before her with the other. “You were also my first love and my first relationship.”
On the other end of the phone, Damien held his breath, waiting for her to finish.
Cherise smiled faintly. “So we’re both novices. Let’s help each other out if we’re lacking in anything.”
She shut her eyes and basked in the sunlight from the window. “I think I’m starting to appreciate the
roses you gave me.”
After that, Cherise ended the call. She put her phone on silent mode, settled the bill, and returned to
the institute to commence work. Before leaving the research institute in the evening, she overheard a
group of female employees gossiping next door as she washed her hands in the bathroom.
“Did you hear? The CEO of Lenoir Group. Damien Lenoir, bought all the roses in all the flower shops in
the city!”
