“It’s okay, Judith. It’s okay,” Dylan cradled her in his arms, gently patting her back, his eyes brimming
with compassion. Judith nestled against him, the flames of resentment roaring within her. This was the
price for playing along with that man, for making a spectacle that would push Dylan firmly onto her side.
Her ordeal was so pitiable, and with Maja’s cold indifference, Dylan would surely despise her now. Her
plan was working. A small, triumphant smile curled at the corners of Judith’s lips, though her words
were still laced with manic rants. She had sacrificed so much this time; she refused to believe Maja
would get off scot-free. Sure enough, Arlene Abbott Sanders soon caught wind of the video. The room
spun, and she nearly fainted. Rushing to her husband Augus Sanders’ room, she found him bedridden,
his hair turned completely white in these days. Now lucid, he sat in silence, staring out the window,
occasionally coughing. In his youth, Augus had been a standout gentleman in their social circle,

charisma were visible. “Honey, you have to help Judith. She’s been through too much,” seated on the
bed, Arlene sobbed, feeling as if her heart was being crushed. “We can’t be so heartless towards
Judith, honey. After such an incident, she’s ruined. Plus, the whole North American elite knows about it;
she’ll never marry well now. I was thinking of having her stay elsewhere temporarily, taking her in as
our goddaughter, and eventually marrying her off to a suitable wealthy heir so she’d be set for life.”
With cautious hands, Arlene showed Augus the two-part video: one of Maja’s callous abandonment
and the other of Judith’s humiliation. Rage was written all over her face. “Maja not only stole the man
Judith loved but now has left her in this wretched state! This is too much; she must pay.” Augus’s
expression was originally icy, but upon he saw Judith’s plight, his pupils constricted sharply. He had

stand by and watch this happen. But Judith had caused the death of his own daughter, a barrier he
couldn’t cross. “Honey, leave this to me. I’ll make sure justice is served for Judith,” Arlene made a call
to Dylan instantly. “Dylan, how’s Judith now?” Hearing her concern for Judith softened Dylan’s heart a
bit. “She’s been crying nonstop; her eyes are all swollen. She’s been given a sedative and is asleep
now.” Arlene’s heart ached, “I’ve seen the video. Oh dear, that child has a heart condition, too. I’m
worried about her. I should come to see her.” “Mom, Judith doesn’t want to see anyone right now. She’s
unstable.” “What’s wrong?” “The men, they didn’t take precautions. The doctor isn’t sure if she might be
pregnant.” Arlene’s vision went black, and she collapsed to the floor. “Mom?” Dylan frowned deeply
when there was no response. On the other side, Beck had just entered the room when he saw his

severe case of distress. Now there were two patients in the house. However, Augus seemed indifferent
to Arlene’s condition, having her moved to a secondary bedroom instead of sharing the master suite.
Exhausted, Beck entered the master suite to find his father with a head of white hair and felt a pang in
his heart. “Dad.” Augus leaned back, his voice raspy. “Did you find anything about your sister?” “Dylan
went to Greenfield, but he returned quickly.” “I knew it; I can’t count on him.” “Dad, please don’t get
upset. Focus on getting better.” Beck reached out to help but his father brushed his hand away. Then,
Augus coughed up blood, causing Beck’s eyes to widen in shock. “Dad! I’ll get the doctor right away!”
But Augus shook his head, maintaining his composure even in such a moment. He wiped the blood
from his lips, his eyes somewhat vacant. “I wonder if Cynthia is still alive. She must blame me. My
daughter was gone before I could see her one last time. She looked so much like Cynthia, especially
those eyes.” Beck had many questions, but he remained silent.
