The task force from Greenfield never expected they would be called to handle a case in such a small, sleepy village. They were
used to dealing with high-profile crimes, not small-town mysteries.
Leading the pack was a woman, about twenty-four, with an air of cool detachment about her.
There were five of them in total, and the four men followed her lead without question.
Abner was not much for sleuthing; he preferred to wander the village, looking for a bit of peace of mind.
When the woman, Rachel, caught sight of him, her brow furrowed slightly, "You're a person of interest now. I'd appreciate it if you'd
stay put like everyone else. We've arranged for your meals during the investigation."
It wasn't just Abner; everyone in the village was under the microscope.
Rachel, with her strong, commanding presence, was the archetypal ice queen—quickly earning the villagers’ respect.
The task force sifted through the suspects, eventually clearing the innocent and focusing their efforts on three remaining
individuals.
Abner was one, Queena another, and the third was someone who had a personal grudge with Jackson, a fellow fisherman.
Rachel made a few calls, clearly reporting back to Greenfield and none too pleased about being dispatched to what she considered
the back of beyond.

my desk. Are you taking orders from someone again? Can't those silver-spoon types just stick to racing their fancy cars instead of
meddling in these affairs?"
It was obvious she felt someone high up had pulled strings to get her on the case.
But Greenfield was a long way from Fishing Village, and even with strings pulled, it shouldn't have landed on her desk.
Her expression soured as she heard her boss's voice lower on the other end of the line.
"Just wrap up the case quickly."
Rachel hung up abruptly and continued her inquiries around the village.
She interrogated Abner first, then moved on to Tobias, her team trailing behind, mystified by the lack of clues.
If Jackson was murdered, how could there be no trace of the body? Solving a murder usually started with finding the victim, yet
here, the body seemed to vanish into thin air.
Rachel's gaze lingered on Abner before noticing the memorial paper fluttering in the sky.
"Someone's mourning?"
"Yeah, Rachel, a woman called Phoebe passed away."
"Already buried?"
"About to be. The funeral was delayed because of the police yesterday. Now they're about to lay the body to rest."
A glint of realization sparked in Rachel's eyes, and she quickly made her way to the burial site.
Abner, nearly recovered from his injuries, followed her determined stride.
Rachel arrived at the graveside where Phoebe's coffin was ready for interment.
Flashing her badge, she persuaded the mourners to open the coffin for inspection.
Abner, standing on the outskirts, felt his eyebrows shoot up.
Why hadn't he thought of it? The perfect place to hide a body was in another's coffin.
As expected, yet still shocking, when the coffin lid was lifted, and the dirt began to cover it, Jackson's body was found alongside
Phoebe's.
Tobias, on the edge of the crowd, cried out in alarm, his mother clutching him tightly. She had rushed back from her job in the city
upon hearing of Jackson's disappearance.
The coffin bearers slapped their foreheads in realization.
"I knew it! This coffin was heavier than Fabian's, even though they cfrom the splace."
The missing person case had just escalated to murder.
