Maja suddenly felt so uneasy that she almost automatically took her hand away from Maureen’s.

But Maureen didn’t let go. She just gazed puzzledly at Rita.

Rita’s face was pale, she looked first at Ryan, then at Maja, and finally stopped at the two hands that

were being held. She knew Ms. Raymond. She had planned to visit Ms. Raymond the night before and

had even spent her salary on a suitable gift. But because of Ryan’s call, she had to return home first.

Rita knew she wasn’t Ryan’s social equal, but she really liked Ryan, and Ryan was good to her.

But what was going on now?

Ryan’s mom was holding hands with Ryan and Penny?

Wasn’t Penny already married?

Penny even had an improper relationship with Mr. Raymond and from the looks of it, she was still

Ryan’s girlfriend.

Finally, Ryan came to his senses and hurried after her, catching up with Rita.

“Rita, Penny and I aren’t like that.”

Rita was sobbing, trying to shake off his hand but was also reluctant to let go.

and closed the door.

Ryan was the first to respond, pulling Rita to sit in front of her.

meet you was because I had no other choice.”

Maureen, when not smiling, had a strong presence, being a member of the Raymond family after all.

Hearing Ryan’s words, she turned her gaze to Maja.

“There were plenty of opportunities to explain this, weren’t there?”

After saying that, Maureen also stood up.

“Penny, just pretend I didn’t tell you what I said before. You’re a capable girl. As for Ryan, you’re going

to the Raymond Corporation this afternoon.”

She didn’t mention Rita.
