Her heart ached once more as she hung her head, listening to Nathan's continuing tirade.
They both knew each other's intentions all too well.
She was aware of Nathan's desires, and he knew of her games-they were simply using each other.
She wanted to lift her hand to massage her temples, but Nathan beat her to it, placing his fingers gently there.
After a long moment, she agreed.
"Fine, let's elope then. Just hope you'll have the guts when it's time." "I will." When Carol was sent back, she saw that the wedding dress had already been delivered to the villa.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtFelix and the designer were there, taking measurements of the dress and coordinating it with the venue's setup.
Carol had imagined trying on wedding dresses with Felix, but a call from Listina had pulled him away, leaving her to try them on alone.
The designer's eyes lit up when he saw her.
"Ms. Miller, care to try it on again? We've made quite a few subtle changes." Truth be told, the dress was stunning; it was said to incorporate elements from fairy-tale mermaids.
Yet, Carol had no desire to try on the dress. She offered the designer a polite smile and headed upstairs.
The designer looked at Felix's expressionless face, and quietly continued his work.
At ten o'clock, after Felix had taken care of all his affairs, he followed her upstairs.
When Carol found herself under him on the bed, she frowned in discomfort.
It had been like this for days, and since she couldn't resist, she tried to detach herself instead.
Just as she was about to drift off from exhaustion, a cool sensation suddenly wrapped around her wrist.
Opening her eyes, she saw a beautiful bracelet locked in place and the key was with Felix.
Apparently, her previous act of losing a ring had angered him, so he had crafted this bracelet specially for her. It had a beautiful green gem on the lock. The bracelet was custom-made for her, and with the key in his possession, there was no way to remove it without the key-unless she was willing to cut off he own hand. Carol glanced at the ring on Felix's finger, which clearly matched her bracelet, both adorned with the swillow leaf pattern.
At a loss for words, she immediately tried to remove the bracelet as soon as he let go, but, with her wrist turning red, the bracelet remained unmoving. Św"Are you skind of freak?" Felix said nothing; it seemed he was accustomed to her dissatisfaction by now.
Unable to remove it or find the key, Carol forced herself to sleep.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmDuring the night, she felt nauseous, as if she needed to vomit.
She got up, went to the bathroom, and retched. Then she stared at her reflection in the mirror.
The feeling made her anxious. She rinsed her mouth with water, and just as she was feeling unsettled, Felix opened the door to the room. Tensing up, Carol heard him ask, "Stomach upset?" Then he slowly approached her from behind and wrapped his arms around her.
His embrace was warm. He was tall enough to envelop her entirely in his arms.
Carol had her hands braced against the vanity; the bracelet on her wrist was visible in the mirror reflection.
The material of the bracelet was unique probably resistant to cutting tools. It was encrusted with diamonds, pretty but suffocating.
Just like their relationship, it was suffocating.
She was about to speak when she saw him place a hand on her abdomen.
The gesture sent a shiver down her spine.
"Carol, we're getting married the day after tomorrow." She wanted to push him away but then heard him say, "Just stay hand rest for these next two days. Don't go out."
