Chapter 385
Maja turned her head to see Felix chatting with a nurse.
“We’re his friends. How’s he doing?”
“Well, he might have a concussion and needs further observation. We’ll know more after the doctor
checks him out. Just wait here for now.”
Felix sat down, his clothes still stained with blood.
Maja pulled out a cheque, inscribing it for 20 grand.
“Felix, this is for Nathan’s medical bills. I’m not sure if it’s enough, but I’ve got to dash. Something
urgent has come up.”
Felix glanced at the cheque, a sheer of contempt in his eyes, as if questioning this approach.
However, when he looked up, his former demeanor had returned–gentle and pure.
“Don’t tell Carol about this, she’ll worry.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtMaja was preoccupied with lan, fearing that he might suddenly abandon dealing with ByteWise
Technologies after a tantrum.
So, she didn’t notice Felix’s emotional shift.
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell her. It’s my fault Nathan got hurt. I’ll apologize to him.”
Felix nodded and accepted the cheque.
“Alright, I’ll make sure he gets it.”
Maja hurried off, frequently checking her phone as she drove.
She honked her horn in frustration just as the road was jammed.
The usual twenty–minute drive to the hotel took twice as long due to the traffic.
lan had given her only an hour. Every passing minute made her heart pound faster.
In her anxiety, her car was rear–ended, and her head hit the steering wheel, almost bringing tears to
her eyes.
The accident scene was chaotic. The other driver called the police and asked her to wait.
But Maja just left her business card.
“Sorry, I’ve got to run. Something urgent. Let’s sort out the compensation over the phone.”
With that, she dashed towards a cab.
She walked too fast and winced at the pain in her foot.
But she didn’t have time for that. She gave the cab driver the hotel address.
Upon arriving, she handed the driver a tenner, not waiting for the change, and hurried into the hotel.
Both elevators had just left and took a while to come back down.
Maja waited anxiously and checked the time. Five minutes past the agreed hour.
By the time she got upstairs, it was ten minutes past.
Standing at the door, her foot aching and body sore from the previous night’s ordeal.
But she massaged her face to relax, then used her card to open the door.
There was a faint smell of alcohol in the room. The man was sitting on the sofa by the window.
Maja closed the door, stiffening at the room’s atmosphere.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmlan casually checked his wrist. “You’re ten minutes late.”
Maja’s lips trembled. “Mr. Raymond, I need to take a shower.”
With that, she hurried into the bathroom and locked the door.
She had just showered before leaving, and now she was doing it again. She dried herself off, looked at
herself in the mirror, took a deep breath, and put on the set of white clothes she had stuffed into her
bag in haste.
The fabric was thin, barely covering her.
She put on the clothes, placed her bag on a shelf, hesitated for a few seconds, then opened the
bathroom door.
No longer wearing a coat, just the white outfit, her exposed skin seemed especially bright.
“Mr. Raymond, is this outfit okay?”
Maja, a stunning beauty with an aloof look, was staring at him.
lan had originally been furious, but when the bathroom door opened, she walked out with the steam.
Her skin was flushed.
All his anger was instantly deflected.
For the first time, lan was acutely aware of what temptation meant.
