Chapter 477
He looked at lan, who was sitting in his office chair.
Since lan had invested in Tyler’s script, deciding to dive into the entertainment industry, Tyler was there to meet the
director lan had recommended and to meet lan himself.
“Your wife’s quite the powerhouse, huh?”
lan was on an overseas call, motioning for Tyler to find a seat.
Seeing that lan was busy, Tyler didn’t say anything else and just sat down on a couch.
But lan’s call went on for two hours; he was constantly giving orders to the other end, the frown on his face
deepening.
Jeff walked in.
“Boss, the plane leaves in three hours.”
lan put down his phone, massaging his temples.
“Make sure all the bigwigs on that end are waiting.”
Jeff nodded and began to tidy up some documents.
Only then did lan turn to Tyler. “What were you saying just now?”
Tyler didn’t go on about Maja; anyone could see that something was going wrong with the overseas company.
“Going abroad?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Yeah.”
lan was already getting up and heading to his private room to shower and change.
0
Tyler tactfully didn’t disturb him further, and lan only took half an hour to groom himself. As he was about to get in
the car, he glanced at his phone one
more time.
No calls from her, only from business partners and upper management.
A flicker of indifference crossed his eyes, and he simply turned his phone off.
Out of sight, out of mind.
He asked Jeff, “This trip should take about two days; get plane tickets for the day after tomorrow.”
“Sure thing, boss.”
lan didn’t tell anyone about this trip abroad.
Naturally, Maja didn’t know either.
She wanted to return to RosenGarden, but Maria called.
“Ms. Pennyfeather, last night security at Rosewood Manor spotted someone trying to break in. Rosewood Manor is
the villa Holden bought for you. We haven’t had any thieves try to break in for years, so I was wondering if
something happened on your end.”
Maja was immediately alerted to this.
She had been busy dealing with the Pennyfeather Group these past few days and nearly forgot about the break–in
at the Pennyfeather family’s villa.
Nothing was stolen; what were they looking for?
And why was it coming back to her?
She frowned and quickly checked the surveillance cameras she had installed inside the villa.
All three had been tampered with.
Living alone and knowing that her place had been broken into, Maja felt a chill, as if unseen eyes were watching
her.
She didn’t even dare go to her bedroom, constantly fearing someone was hiding under the bed, which was utterly
terrifying.
She quickly grabbed Coco and left.
But now she had nowhere to go. If these people were really after her, then the Pennyfeather family’s villa was no
longer safe. The Rosewood Manor was safe for now.
After all, it was a place Holden had prepared for her with tight security.
The only downside to Rosewood Manor was that she might run into lan.
But compared to her own life, lan didn’t seem so terrifying anymore.
Not long after Maja got in the car, she saw a feminine hygiene product ad not far away. She didn’t pay it much
mind, but her hands tightened on the steering wheel.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmShe suddenly realized that her period was half a month late.
A lot had happened recently, starting with the revelation that she was not Neil Pennyfeather’s biological daughter.
She had been so busy.
So she only just noticed this.
Maja suddenly felt panic, gripping the steering wheel tightly.
She stopped in front of a pharmacy, bent down to soothe Coco, and found a bug under the seat.
The blinking light was like a creepy–smile.
Maja’s scalp began to prickle. She nervously checked the whole car, even the trunk, fearing someone might be
hiding there.
Luckily, apart from the bug, there was nothing else.
Her palms were sweaty. When she walked into the pharmacy, her mind was a mess.
“I need a pregnancy test.”
Standing under the glaring lights, she finally regained her composure from the shock.
The pharmacist gave her a glance and took out the needed item.
Holding the pregnancy test in her hand, Maja felt as if she were carrying a ton of weight.
She always took pills whenever she was with lan.
She couldn’t possibly be pregnant.
If she really was, everything would be thrown into chaos.
