Chapter 760
She quickly got out of bed, freshened up, and went downstairs for breakfast.
But the breakfast wasn’t smooth sailing. Selena called and started to bitch her out.
!
She hung up after hearing only one sentence.
As she was heading out, her car was blocked by two others as soon as she reached the city center intersection.
A knock on her car window interrupted her thoughts. She rolled down the window and was greeted by Carl.
Carl had given her a bottle of pills before, intended to be used against lan. Even though she had received 30 million
in funding, she had only contacted Carl once. It seemed he couldn’t wait any longer.
“Mr. Raymond.” Maja greeted him with a smile first.
Carl replied coldly, “Penny, you haven’t forgotten what I told you, right?”
“How could I forget? But I’ve been sick recently, I’ll go find lan later and do as you instructed.”
Carl narrowed his eyes. He had no qualms about threatening this woman’s family.
“Penny, if you delay any longer, I can’t promise what I’ll do to your family.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtMaja didn’t reply, even though she didn’t know where her family was.
Her relatives in Crystalbrook Valley had already met with tragedy. The bodies of her aunt and uncle were still–
unattended to, and their ashes were still in the hospital.
Seeing her silence, Carl thought she was scared and sneered,
“Don’t disappoint me, or I’ll get rid of you as easily as squashing an ant.”
With that, his car drove off.
Maja’s car remained stationary, and soon there was honking from behind.
She had to tell Grandpa Holden about Selena and Carl: Otherwise, if these two really made a move, she’d be in
mortal danger. Not to mention, Selena was acting like a lunatic now.
However, when she arrived at Raymond Mansion, she ran into Maureen.
Maureen came in a hurry to visit after hearing that the old man’s health had worsened. She didn’t expect to
encounter her.
She had just heard that lan and Beck had a fight over her, so Maureen didn’t look too pleased.
“We don’t welcome you here; bug off.”
Maja stood firm, so Maureen sent her bodyguard over.
“Penny, you’re not here to see Holden over last night’s matter, are you? The Raymonds aren’t people you can meet
just because you want to. Leave now, and I won’t make things difficult for you.”
Maureen was incredibly disgusted with her after hearing the news last night. Where did she learn to charm people
like this?
She didn’t want to continue. It would make her seem uncivilized, so she just turned and walked in.
The two bodyguards signaled Maja to leave.
Maja stood there, then called Holden.
The phone was picked up after a long while.
“Maja.”
“Grandpa Holden, how are you feeling?”
Holden was very pleased to hear from her: “I’m fine.”
But before he could finish, he began to cough painfully.
Maja couldn’t bring herself to complain to him about Selena; she didn’t want to give the old man any more trouble.
She was about to say a few more words and hang up.
But Holden seemed to sense her mood and gently asked, “Did something happen?”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmJust as Maja was about to answer, a woman’s voice came from the other end of the phone. It was Maureen.
“Dad, who are you on the phone with?”
“Maja.”
“Connie’s been crying non–stop over there. She’s been throwing things around, can’t calm down, and keeps
insisting you intervene.”
Hearing Connie’s name, Holden’s expression turned cold, and he sighed into the phone.
“Maja, we’ll taik–Later.”
“Okay, Grandpa Holden, take care.”
After hanging up, Holden put the phone aside and turned to ask Maureen.
“Connie should have been discharged by now, right?”
“She has been discharged; I just sent her home But she’s been crying non–stop; her face is all swollen. Dad, Connie
says it’s Maja’s fault, that Maja made her go through all this.”
“That’s impossible!”
Holden slammed his hand on the table and asked, “What does this have to do with Maja?”
