250 Finishing The Evolution (4)
Explaining how the darkness bullet spell worked was a fairly simple feat that anybody can do. The spell essentially gathered nether, changed it to darkness elements, before then condensing the darkness elements into a tight ball as dense as the spell enabled it.
Then by manipulating the runes so that the condensed ball would release a stable portion of its darkness elements, the darkness bullet would shoot itself forward with incredible speed, using the main body as a projectile that would either explode upon impact if the target is sturdy enough or shot past through it if the target was too flimsy.
And right now, Blake’s eyes were currently seeing live how the darkness elements that made up the whole darkness bullet spell had been pulled apart from each other, drastically weakening the darkness bullet and eventually dissipating it into thin air.
Doing a worse job at harming the humanoid demon if Blake had used a butter knife instead.
‘Is this its ability?’ Blake thought to himself as he still observed the darkness elements that had been dismantled from his spell being sucked into the humanoid demon’s body.
To prove his theory, Blake went ahead and cast several more darkness elemental spells toward the humanoid demon. The darkness binding spell, the darkness spike spell, the single darkness tendril spell, even his original marking spell, Blake tried to throw all of them towards the humanoid demon.
But just as before, before the darkness spikes or tendrils could manifest themselves into the world, the darkness elements that gathered in the surroundings, the ones that were supposed to make up the darkness elemental constructs, had failed to do their job as they were sucked in by the humanoid demon as soon as appeared near the creature.
On the other hand, the single darkness tendril spell and the marking spell also failed as the same thing that happened to the darkness bullet happened. The darkness elements in them were disassembled and the spell ceased to exist.
‘So it’s really like this… It was indeed its ability to manipulate the darkness elements as it pleased…’

‘And the way he manipulated the darkness elements around him, it would be even more advanced than Cyra’s fire control if he was even able to control my darkness elemental spells.’
If Blake only had his darkness elemental spells, and he never used his bloodline power to gain more affinities other than his original darkness affinity, then the fight with the humanoid demon would be one that was impossible to win.
No matter what he did, he would still lose. His attacks using the darkness elements would all be nullified and he would need to get close enough to the humanoid demon to inflict damage to it using his fist.
However, if he really got too close to the humanoid demon, then darkness spikes, one that almost appeared instantaneously without even a single rune being drawn would bombard him from many sides, threatening his life every second he got near enough to the humanoid demon.
Fortunately though. That wasn’t Blake’s case. From the covenant with Robus, Blake got both the dark earth armor and the earth affinity. From the covenant with Cyra, he got the Child of The Dark Flame ability which gave him the same ability as the flame variant demon, being able to use the fire element as easily as waving his hands and moving his fingers.
So knowing that his darkness elemental spells were futile, Blake had not run out of choices yet.
Blake then started drawing his fiery nether from his heart, moving them toward his palms as he created two dark flame fireballs in both his palms.
And when he felt the intensity of the fire nether was enough to explode a demonic boar’s skull in one hit, Blake released the dark flame fireball straight towards the humanoid demon.
Blake kept his eyes locked onto both the two fireballs and the humanoid demon, making sure he wouldn’t miss a single moment between the exchange of the two.
And surely, when the two dark flame fireballs were finally close enough to the humanoid demon, Blake once again saw the dark flame fireball start weakening as the dark-colored flame began losing its color.
The dark color that made the flame even more ominous than the regular flame was visibly drained out of the dark flame fireball as it eventually became a regular fireball, the same one that Cyra used to have before she made the covenant with Blake.
However, that was it. The dark color of the dark flame fireball had disappeared, but the pure flame fireball was still there, making its way toward its initial target, which was none other than the humanoid demon.
Realizing that the attack couldn’t be completely dispelled by only absorbing the nether alone, the humanoid demon finally made its first move other than the time when Blake was close enough to it.
And just as Blake had guessed before, the humanoid demon was just like Cyra. A variant elemental demon that was able to control elements as easily as if the element was part of their own body.
Rather than summoning darkness tendrils out of thin air like before, the humanoid demon just raised one of its hands before then a darkness barrier, one that was thicker than the Blake made before suddenly manifested into the world. Once again almost instantaneously, without using a single rune to form it.
‘This confirms it… This guy is really a darkness elemental variant demon.’
‘Now the last thing that I need to confirm…’ Blake then once again cast a spell, one that didn’t belong purely to the darkness elemental spells.
The ground beneath the humanoid demon then trembled as a dark earth spike sprouted from the ground, threatening to stab onto the humanoid demon’s chest.
Well, it’s supposed to be a dark earth spike, but at the moment when the nether gathered and being turned to the respective elements, Blake once again felt the darkness element being sucked out of the dark earth spike, making it an ordinary earth spike.
And just like before, when the humanoid demon realized the incoming danger couldn’t be mitigated by sucking the darkness elements out of it alone, the humanoid demon cast another thick darkness barrier to stop the earth spike from piercing its body.
Different from stopping the fireball that could be said to not have a really solid form and could just be scattered onto the air, the earth spike couldn’t be more solid as a matter, only losing in toughness with the dark earth constructs.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSo when the earth spike collided with the darkness barrier, even the thick darkness barrier shook for a split second before the sharp tip of the earth spike shattered, not strong enough to pierce through the darkness barrier that had been overloaded with the darkness elements.
Blake already knew that his attack would not work, but Blake did not throw in any more spells to the humanoid demon as right now, hurting the humanoid demon wasn’t his goal in throwing the dark earth spike.
Then for his last experiment, Blake cast an ordinary earth spike, without the darkness element imbuement in it.
The earth spike sprouted from the ground, and an ordinary-sized earth spike appeared without having its size shortened or its power weakened. Resulting in the darkness barrier that the humanoid demon cast shook even stronger than before.
‘That’s it. It’s all clear now.’ With the tests that he had done, now Blake knew what he needed to do to defeat the humanoid demon.
Instead of getting closer or starting to cast more of his non-darkness elemental spells toward the humanoid demon, Blake instead walked even further than before, going quite a distance away from the original safe distance that he had known before.
While preparing his next move and crouching on the ground, Blake kept his eyes on the humanoid demon, making sure that it kept walking towards him and didn’t stray off somewhere.
And when the humanoid demon walked close enough, Blake stopped doing whatever he was doing with his hands to get up and lure the humanoid demon elsewhere first, making sure the distance between the two of them was not growing too close to each other.
After luring the humanoid demon elsewhere, Blake spread his wings and lightened his body, going as fast as possible back to the unfinished preparation to finish it.
Blake repeated the act multiple times until finally his preparations were finished and lured the humanoid demon once again.
But this time, instead of luring it elsewhere, Blake lured the humanoid demon straight right into the rune formation that he had drawn.
And when it went right in the middle of the rune formation, Blake quickly activated the rune formation, powering the rune formation with enough nether to cast another second realm spell.
With the facts and characteristics that he had learned about the humanoid demon, Blake had come to a conclusion.
The moment the rune formation had its fill of nether, the glow that the rune formation had turned to a flash as it finally manifested the spell that was contained inside it.
Meaning a 20-meter tall pillar of flame had once again appeared inside the black barren lands. And the humanoid demon was standing right in the middle of the flame pillar, having its flesh and bones turned to char due to the intensity of the flame pillar.
