Chapter 37: Surprise *#%!
Blake heaved a sigh of relief as he rubbed his own chest after he successfully survived whatever the huge crow was throwing at him earlier.
Although he couldn’t see what the wind tornado had done and how much destruction it had caused above the ground, the sounds of things cracking, tearing, and breaking was apparent to his ears to hear.
And if he wanted to give a guess to what had happened above the hole he was currently hiding in, then it would be anything but just minor damage.
The dark earth armor that he was currently wearing right now was definitely considered a strong armor since it came from the gorilla that could easily break boulders with his fists even without wearing the armor. Still, Blake couldn’t imagine himself getting out unscathed from such a chaotic-sounding event above him.
And right now, Blake was standing still with his right hand on his chin and his left hand folded on his stomach.
‘How should I do this?’ He pondered.
If he were to get out of the hole that he was currently hiding in right after the chaos died down, then the crow would definitely notice him.

Blake would be put at a disadvantage since the huge crow would be ready to attack him while he was still getting out of the hole. Which would put him in a tight spot, as the crow’s diving speed would certainly be faster than his body could ever move with only 15 points in his physique stat.
‘Should I just wait here for a while until it goes away?’ Blake tilted his head.
‘No. I would definitely lose track of it. I could even barely track and keep up with it with my eyes locked on it all the time. I would never be able to spot it if it were to fly at full speed somewhere.’
Blake then churned the gears in his head as he tried to think of a solution to his current situation. But with time kept on running since the crow would definitely fly away if there were no signs of life on the destroyed ground above after it waited for quite some time, Blake quickly made up his decision.
He can’t afford to be put in a disadvantageous situation by checking what happened above the ground to only be dive-attacked by the crow nor could he just let the crow go after he had wanted to hunt it for days, so he did neither of those.
“Hmm... Then I can only face it head-on...” He muttered as he began squatting and drawing the demonic runes on the ground beneath his feet.
Now that he had known from Vera that his home world would probably be plunged to war sooner or later, and Amy would definitely be dragged into it if it were to happen, Blake reminded himself that although he still had time, he shouldn’t waste it.
And seeing how strong the huge crow was, Blake had guessed that he would probably get at least 5 souls from eating it, just like when he ate the gorilla soul, which would be a huge waste if he were to just let it go.
‘For starters, I would have to see how I could travel to other worlds in the next realm after this realm...’ Blake said to himself while his finger didn’t stop moving and kept drawing the demonic runes on the dirt ground.
‘And by eating that huge crow, I would be 5 souls closer to evolving!’
Blake stared at the ground beneath his feet and around him and checked whether he had drawn all the demonic runes correctly.
It was only his second time drawing the exact same set of runes, but it wasn’t a problem for Blake to memorize all parts of the rune formation.
It was one of the simplest rune formations that he had ever made because it was basically a test rune formation that he created to see whether he could make a rune formation using other elements besides his darkness element.
But even with it being one of the simplest rune formations that also had a very straightforward function, it was the perfect rune formation that he could use in his current situation.
After making sure that the demonic runes were perfect and confirming that the dark earth armor was still covering his whole body, Blake nodded his head once while taking a deep breath.
‘Let’s do this...’
Blake then activated the runes on his feet by pouring nether into the activation runes. Starting from the activation runes, all the other runes around it started to light up as Blake stood in the center of the demonic runes.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAnd different from just casting a spell, the glowing demonic runes on the rune formation didn’t stop glowing even after it had successfully been activated.
Instead, it kept on glowing after the ground beneath Blake’s feet began rising upward at a rapid rate.
Blake was already prepared for it, but he was still slightly taken aback when the ground had risen very fast that his head had already made contact with the earth wall that he created to close up the hole just a split second after the rune formation started working.
Blake knew that he wouldn’t be able to prevent his head from crashing against the earth wall, but he wasn’t worried in the slightest as it was the reason why he double-checked if the dark earth armor was still on his body.
Knowing how strong the dark earth armor was, Blake just gritted his teeth while headbutting the earth wall with confidence as his whole body completely broke through the horizontal earth wall with the ground beneath his feet still rising upward, seemingly didn’t have any plan to stop as it continued bringing Blake upward to the sky.
With the ground rising fast beneath him, Blake wasn’t even able to take his time to see the destruction that had happened around him.
By the time he blinked his eyes twice, Blake was already standing on a huge earth pillar that was even taller than the average trees inside the forest.
Blake kept his eyes open all the way when the earth pillar was still rising, and the moment he lifted up his head to the sky, he had already found his target and kept his eyes locked on it.
The huge crow with the green feathers was flying not too far away from his current location up in the sky, with the distance between the two being about 20 meters away from each other.
The huge crow who was observing the ground that it had just destroyed intensely, was taken aback when a huge earth pillar suddenly popped out of the ground and rose to about the same height as itself.
But it was certainly more surprised by the fact that right after the huge earth pillar stopped rising, it saw a small humanoid demon with jet black skin from head to toe flying towards its direction from the top of the earth pillar.
And although the crow couldn’t understand what the humanoid demon was screaming when the humanoid demon’s little body was flying towards it, it could somehow feel that the meaning was anything other than being nice.
“Surprise Motherfucker!”
