Chapter 40: Defeating The Crow(2)
Blake had already predicted such a thing to happen, and he already jumped off of the earth pillar the moment the crow crashed against it, hence he didn’t need to break his fall with only a 5 meters fall.
He saw how the earth pillar had crumbled and fell on top of the huge crow.
But Blake didn’t believe that it would be sufficient to deal with the huge crow that wasn’t only capable of flying at an unthinkable speed, but also a body that was tougher than a tree trunk.
So even before he landed, Blake drew another set of runes with his right hand and summoned an earth wall that stood at the right side of the location where the crow had been buried.
And right after the earth wall stood up from the ground, the remains of the earth pillar started shaking. And in the next second, a huge figure rose up from beneath the crumbled earth pillar.
With its two wings that were about 10 Blake’s height being spread to its side and its huge body standing stall right in front of him in an imposing manner, Blake could now feel how domineering the crow was upfront.
However, that doesn’t mean he was intimidated by it. One of his friends in the demon realm didn’t lose out in height and he certainly also didn’t lose out in the domineering-look department.

Hence why when the crow was busy giving him a threatening pose, Blake was already drawing a set of runes with his left hand, and another different one with his right hand. Not giving the crow any attention other than being wary of its movements.
The crow who had just shaken off the dizziness that it felt from crashing its head onto the earth pillar rose up from the ground with might as it tried to announce that it wasn’t defeated yet and that a mere crash was not enough to end itself.
However, the crow certainly didn’t expect that just a second after it freed itself from the remains of the earth pillar, it would feel the same feeling of nether gathering around its body again.
The crow suddenly became alert as it prepared to jump off the ground and flew once again, but just like last time, Blake was ready to prevent the crow from doing it.
Just like before Blake had cast another darkness tendril spell and aimed it towards the crow’s body to prevent it from flying away from Vera’s darkness binding spell.
But instead of latching the darkness tendril onto the crow’s neck, Blake aimed for the crow’s left wing and latched the darkness tendril to it.
And the moment the darkness tendril got a hold of the crow’s left wing, Blake quickly pulled the darkness tendril in a particular way so that it would be tangled up onto the earth wall that he had created earlier.
With the darkness tendril connected to the crow’s wing and the earth wall, Blake pulled hard on the darkness tendril and prevented the crow from being able to flap its left wing, and pressed it into the earth wall.
And losing one of its wings means that the crow had lost its balance and its ability to fly.
‘I got you now!’ Blake shouted inwardly.
With the crow not being able to fly, the darkness binding spell quickly did its work and started latching darkness tendrils all over the crow’s body, pressing it down to the ground below.
And with the spell being cast on the ground, the darkness tendrils came out of the ground and used the ground as their foundation and increased their restricting strength.
But Blake didn’t stop there. Seeing that the crow’s right wing was still trying to flap away, Blake quickly drew another darkness binding spell and sent his intent to focus on the crow’s right wing, just like how Vera had taught him.
With its main body being restricted, there’s no way the crow could save its right wing from being trapped under the darkness binding spell that Blake had just cast.
The darkness tendrils latched themselves onto the crow’s right wing and pressed the huge wing down onto the ground, unable to move even an inch anywhere.
And after seeing the crow’s right wing was secured in place, Blake released his grip onto the crow’s left wing and then cast another darkness binding spell, this time he aimed at the crow’s left wing.
A few moments later, the huge crow’s body was already pressed down on the ground by hundreds of darkness tendrils, without any parts of its body being able to move.

“It’s been fun, but you’re really annoying as heck.” Blake walked over to the crow’s head.
The crow stared intensely at Blake, seemingly still refusing to accept that it had lost.
But Blake didn’t care about its feelings as he drew two sets of the same runes with both of his hands.
Soon, the runes flashed before two darkness bullets appeared in front of Blake’s hands as he put them right in front of the wound that he had inflicted earlier in the bird’s skull.
And now with an already open wound, and two darkness bullets shot at a point-blank range, even the crow’s defense which was tougher than a tree trunk couldn’t handle the two darkness bullets resulting in its brain splattered along with its broken skull.
And soon, a dark orb started to slowly float up from the middle of the crow’s body, signaling Blake that the long fight is finally over.
And the first thing that came to Blake’s mind when he saw the soul was, ‘I wonder if this soul would be as tasty as the gorilla’s soul...’
He stared at the soul orb as he swallowed his saliva.
Blake slowly walked up to the crow’s huge body and climbed up onto it to get the soul.
He observed the soul intently as if he was trying to see whether the soul would have any difference from the other souls that he usually ate that didn’t have any kinds of taste whatsoever.
But after failing to see anything with his eyes, Blake decided to just swallow it and feel for himself whether he would get the nice savory taste that he had been wanting to experience again after a whole week of not tasting it.
