Chapter 404 Using The Blood Of The Chicken To Scare Away The Monkey
Lenny only needed to look at Fang's face a bit to confirm the truth of what he just said.
Ironically, it was just a random guess.
Fang frowned. He suddenly waved his hands at the school, and the forcefield vibrated a little.
"Huh!? What did Father do? I can't hear them anymore. Bob complained.
He and the other students could only see their mouths moving.
Fang had blocked all sound from reaching them.
"Tell me, which faction are you from? Which aristocratic family sent you?" Fang asked.
However, Lenny and Perseus looked at him as if they were staring at a fool.
"We have done our good deeds for the Augustus noble family! According to the rules, if you or your master have any dissatisfaction with us, then you take it up with our superiors. Not these poor students who have done absolutely nothing! Fang stated.
Lenny could not help but massage his jaw a bit.
He could tell that something fishy was in the air. He did not know what it was, but it was definitely starting to get interesting.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWith this in mind,he decided to throw out a bone. He wanted to see if they would catch it.
"Well, our Demon Master said that your job these days has caused us quite a bit of profit. We were only sent here to check if our losses were worth it. Lenny winked at Perseus and then turned back to Fang. "I'm sure you know what I mean.
Perseus was suddenly confused; after all, they did not have any demon masters. At least not any more.
But he decided to keep his mouth shut.
He would rather not talk about it and make Lenny angry.
"Losses?" Fang frowned. "If you are talking about the rising horde of undead in the east, that is not our fault. Even our businesses there suffered terribly. Why do you think we took on these jobs to hunt that werewolf scum? The zombie horde affects us all! The only luck we have is that it will consume the giant shadow werewolves before it gets to us."
Lenny massaged his jaw some more. Now, things were getting interesting.
"So there is a zombie horde? He thought to himself, "And these guys hunted werewolves." Wait! Is that not the same pack Glenn said could help me find Judas?"
*Cough!*
Lenny stepped up. "So you see, our master believes you witches have caused him to lose his profits." Lenny emphasized 'Witches' because it was considered an insult to the Magi. It also gave the impression that Lenny and Perseus were looking down at them. The choice of words was very intentional—to stare up to annoyance and blind rationality.
"We have therefore been instructed to teach you lot a lesson. However, I'm willing to make a slight exception, seeing as to how you all look dispirited, and of course because of the Zombie Horde."
Lenny suddenly smiled as he pointed at the school, "Bring all your valuables inside. I'm sure my master will be more than pleased with you eyesore."
"What!? How dare you? We are Magi in these wastelands. We do not have much. You demons have stolen everything from us. We can barely supply enough tribute for Lord Augustus!"
Fang felt wronged by this.
He did not see what he had done to deserve such a life.
Firstly, his son and his students were attacked, many of whom were now dead, and now they had to pay tribute to yet another demon.
He felt absolutely wronged by this.
Lenny, on the other hand, chuckled internally.
He had initially planned to get on with it and just kill these Magi immediately.
After all, he could clearly see their stats as a result of the Satan system, and although it was not bad, it was not so impressive that he would consider a fight with them difficult.
Since it has come to this, then why not?
Then again, there were a lot of factors that were in play here, and Lenny was twisting them to his advantage.
First was the illusion of power.
Only those with sufficient backing would dare invade a Magis Territory.
There was also the fact that Lenny and Perseus seemed to have displayed their power by killing all the way to the doorstep of their home and then making camp to enjoy a meal out of a lack of fear or respect for the dead scattered about them.
These were actions only bold men with a strong backing would do.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThese Magi did not know that Lenny and Perseus only formed camp because they were genuinely hungry and, because of their origins, could not give a damn about the rest of the world.
Secondly, they could see that Perseus was brimming with power. Although it was just rank 1 of the Lesser Demon rank, it was still power above theirs.
At the same time, while they could sense Perseus's power, they could not do so for Lenny's.
This was one of two things.
Either Lenny was just an ordinary human or his power level was so high that they could not measure it.
This also meant that whoever was backing him would be even stronger.
This naturally exaggerated the image of Lenny's 'Backer' in their minds.
Seeing as to how he was even smiling at them without a worry in the world, then he must be of incredible strength.
In this manner, the illusion of power backed by actions convinced them not to act, lest they regret it.
Lenny remembered that the Chinese in his former world had a name for this. They called it using the blood of the chicken to scare away the monkey.
He could not help but chuckle at how things suddenly played out.
His plan was to kill all of them and loot the place to maximize the gain that the system was going to give him.
But even if he fought and killed these Magi, there was no guarantee that he would be able to break through the barrier surrounding the Magi School.
In such a situation, it was best to work smart and not hard.
