Dysfunctional - An Assassin's Guide to Reincarnating in Another World
Chapter 526 Final - The End"Alright, finally done," I sighed, as I set down my pen.
Vacation was great, which I was reminded of when I got back and saw all the paperwork that had piled up on my desk. Zero and Jhin had been dealing with them while I was away, but with less efficiency than I did, since I had the use of my clones to bank on.
And yeah, I could just let my clones do all the work, but even one extra set of hands means that the work will finish that much faster, so I powered through it. With this, I shouldn't have too much work over the next couple of days.
A few weeks had passed since we got back to this world after visiting my previous world, today's date is-...eh, whatever, it doesn't matter.
Anyway, things have been going good lately. Crime's at an all time low, I've had my Monsters scouring the globe for any threats, but it's all clear so far.
Yeah, things have been nice and peaceful lately, it's been great. Sure, I've been bored and stuff, but that's a good thing. The only thing to be concerned about is Belia, she's kind of a ticking time bomb...so we're keeping an eye on her, if she decided to stir things up, I'll deal with her before she can do so.
"Good work, my lord," Remarked Jhin, as I got up and headed out the throne room.
"We're finally done...but how long do we have before the work starts to pile up again?" Sighed Zero wistfully.
"Take a day or two to relax, you guys, you've earned it," I replied with a wave, as I headed out the room.
I suppose I'll go around the nation to make sure everything's in order. I decided to first make my way to where Az was busy with spell creation, he got back into it with a passion after we returned.
Guess visiting another world gave him some fresh ideas for new spells, I'm looking forward to seeing what he does with them.
As I got to the door of the room he was working in, I gave it a couple of knocks before opening and entering the room. It was a bit dimly lit, as I let out a sigh as I spotted Az.
He's asleep on a pile of scrolls...and based on his expression, he's really tired, he must have been in here since last night.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Pulling an all nighter, huh? Talk about out of character...well, I appreciate the effort, buddy. Thanks a lot, seriously," I said quietly with a smile, as I patted him on the shoulder.
"Now, that's out of character...it's not like you to get so sappy," He suddenly muttered sleepily, as he let out a tired yawn.
"O-oh, uh...thought you were asleep," I responded awkwardly, feeling my face heat up slightly before quickly using my Healing Factor to calm down.
"Yeah...I am," He replied with an another yawn, before closing his eyes again.
I should probably go...I then headed out of the room, quietly shutting the door before leaving the castle and walking through the streets.
Nice, everyone looks happy and relaxed, the streets are abuzz with life and chatter...I'm glad, after everything that's happened since I came to this world, this is a sight I won't ever take for granted.
"Yo, Kuro! Haven't seen you in a while, bro, how's it hanging!?" Called out Rion with a grin, as he jogged over with Azeria.
"Hey, you guys. I'm just out and about now that I've got a bit of free time to spare," I replied with a smile.
After speaking to them for a while, I continued exploring the area, buying some snacks from a food stall to munch on as I walked.
Mm, this is good! We got a bunch of recipes from my old world while we were there, and it didn't take long to notice some improvements made to the food we've got here.
I should definitely visit that world again sometime...I mean, we've still got the Multiverse Rings, so that should be pretty easy. But not right now...I think I'll focus on my role in this world for a while longer.
Oh, yeah, we've got an international fighting tournament scheduled a couple of months from now...I should get in touch with Sylvar, Bell and the other nation leaders soon in regards to that.
"Don't see you out and about too often these days," Fuo greeted me, as I bumped into her.
"Yeah, work had piled up. Haven't seen you in a while, how's it going?" I replied with a grin.
"Eh, nothing worth talking about, it's been nice and uneventful."
"Mhm, true that."
As we parted ways shortly after that, I continued heading through the streets, roaming around. And after speaking with a few more familiar faces, and noticing that the sun was starting to set, I decided to call it a day and head back to the castle. I think I'll just spend the rest of the day relaxing and stuff, I've earned it.
As I got back to the castle and headed in, before making my way to my room, I stifled a yawn as I opened the door and headed inside, to see Persia sprawled on the bed while reading a book.
"Hey, kitty cat, I'm home," I greeted her, before her ears perked up as she sat up with a bright smile.
"Kuro! I missed you!" She exclaimed, as she leapt off the bed and towards me.
I caught her in my arms as she wrapped me in a tight hug and nuzzled my neck, a smile appearing on my face as I hugged her back and let her warmth envelop me.
"It's only been a few hours, you know. Anyway, how was your day at the Academy?" I asked her, as I set her down.
"Tiring, kids are so annoying," She grumbled in response.
She's been working as an instructor at the Academy, and despite her complaining, she does enjoy it.
"Wanna get stoned?" I suggested with a grin.
"Hell, yeah. That was my first thought when I got home, but I decided to wait for you," She responded, before adding with a pout, "So, what took you so long!?"
"Sorry, my bad...just busy running the nation," I replied wryly.
"Smart-ass," She muttered with a shake of her head, before smiling with a slight laugh.

"No, wait. Before that, let's do this first...," She suggested, as she began to undo the buttons on my shirt, leaning up and kissing me softly.
"Mm, no objections here. What about your book though, it looked like you were pretty engrossed in it," I smirked teasingly, as I grabbed her butt with both hands and pulled her closer in towards me.
"Nah, that's fine..." She shook her head as she kissed me again, before reaching back and shutting the book as she added, "I think it's time I close the book on this story...at least, for now..."

Author's Note: Well, that's the final chapter, done and dusted. Dysfunctional - An Assassin's Guide to Reincarnating in Another World, is now over. To everyone who's been reading and supporting this story for all this time, thank you so much for all your support, I'm truly grateful and it means the world to me.
Dysfunctional was the first book I wrote, I started writing it in mid-2019, during the height of the pandemic as I had more free time on my hands than I knew what to do with. It was just supposed to be a way to pass the time, I didn't intend to take it seriously when I first started. But that changed very quickly, after seeing such a variety of responses to it.
From positive reviews and comments to criticisms and disapproval, I've seen a bit of everything in the reactions to this , and I'd like to think that I absorbed all that and used it to improve my writing.
I've been tempted many times to rewrite a lot of the early volumes of the story, but in the end, decided against it as I felt that leaving it as I originally envisioned it, no matter how imperfect it was, was the right choice.
I never imagined that I'd write more than 500 chapters in this story, and more than three years later, I've written what I felt is a satisfying conclusion to this story that I've poured my heart and soul into.
Writing this final chapter to conclude the story was a bittersweet experience, ending a story that I've been creating for over three years, but as they say, all good things must come to an end.
Truly and sincerely, thank you for reading this book and sticking with it till the end, I appreciate all of you and words cannot express how grateful I am. So, for the last time...thank you.
