After swearing her innocence, Freya immediately dropped to her knees and bowed her head to the floor.
The thuds of her forehead hitting the linoleum echoed down the hospital hallway outside the OR.
Anyone passing by would think she was genuinely desperate-not someone making up a lie.
Even Naomi-who was usually calm as a summer lake-was left gasping, clutching her chest in shock as she glared at Freya. "What are you talking about? When did I ever threaten you?" Hearing Naomi's voice, Freya recoiled like a startled rabbit, scrambling over to hide behind Tristan's legs.

Just then, Miriam's sobs grew louder as she stepped forward, showing off the bloodstain on her blouse.
"Tristan, you have to stand up for Bridget. Ever since she found out she was pregnant with Mr. Rupert's baby, she's been over the moon-she even talked to her belly every day! Now, thanks to Sylvia, she's fighting for her life. This was her first child!" "Sylvia didn't push Bridget!" Naomi raised her voice, unable to stand it anymore. Tristan's eyes flashed cold as he barked, "Shut it! This isn't your place to speak!" Naomi shrank back, face pale, biting her lip so hard it almost drew blood.
Sylvia hated seeing Naomi cower like this. She stepped in front of her and shot back, "Mrs. Simpson, are you sure you want to stand by what you're saying?" Miriam's tears faltered, and she swallowed hard. "What do you mean? You hurt my daughter, and now you're trying to ruin her reputation too?" Sylvia's voice was icy. "Did I say anything about her reputation? Why are you so quick to defend it?" Miriam's expression flickered-anger in her eyes, but her mouth clamped shut. Just then, Miriam caught sight of someone new down the hallway, and she immediately burst into tears again, running toward him.
"Mr. Rupert! Sylvia tried to hurt Bridget and the baby!" A cold, piercing gaze landed on Sylvia's back.
Rupert strode past her, his presence sharp and chilly, like a winter night. When he turned, his stare was enough to freeze her in place.
"Where's Bridget?" "She's still in surgery," Miriam blurted, wiping her tears and stabbing a finger toward Sylvia. "It's all her! She pushed Bridget on purpose!" Tristan stood with his arms & neg giving Sylvia a sidelong glance.. "Rupert, this is your first child. You'd people better handle this. Don't let lose faith in you." It was both a warning and a reminder.
Rupert just nodded, barely looking at Tristan.
He lifted his gaze and fixed Sylvia with a look that almost stole the air from her lungs.
In that moment, she could feel herself being judged already found guilty.

"I didn't even know Freya was looking for me. How could I have planned to push Bridget? If you don't believe me, check the security tapes." Sylvia remembered there was a deli across the street with a camera pointed at the entrance.
Rupert's voice was colder than ever. "The footage is gone." Sylvia's head snapped up in shock-he'd already checked?
But the next second, she saw nothing but steely suspicion in his eyes. "You think I deleted the footage? Just to push Bridget?" "I only care about evidence," Rupert replied, unmoved.
So he didn't believe her.
Sylvia's heart dropped, icy and trembling. She clenched her fists, forcing herself to stay calm, her voice bitter. "And do you have any En.
evidence? Why would I want to hurt Bridget? You're just going to believe the word of someone acting hysterical?" "I have evidence!" Freya, still on her knees, suddenly
sprang to her feet and stared at Sylvia from a few feet away. There was a twisted excitement in her eyes, like a rat finally dragging someone else down into the gutter. "I know exactly why Sylvia wanted to hurt Ms. Simpson."
