Mason grunted.

"He did it intentionally. He wanted to show us that he would dare to hit her before us. If she gets married to him, he would probably do worse."

Olivia pushed him and said, "Stop fooling around. We were talking about something serious. You rejected the Heaths.

"That means you're letting go of the power that they would've given you. Aren't you afraid that they might support Yale instead?"

"Mr. Heath helped Yale up to where he is in order to keepin check. But do you think it's so easy to keepdown?"

Ethan smiled mysteriously. "I've been by his side for so many years. Naturally, I know how he operates. I've already prepared contingencies for when that day comes."

Olivia blinked in surprise.

Ethan leaned in next to her ear and whispered, "You don't have to think about a thing. Leave it all to me. I told you I'll never let you down again."
