Streams of red flame emanated from the amber coin under Galahan and Alex's gaze. They couldn't believe what they were seeing, but it was happening right in front of them.
"Wait... Is that a Chaos Coin...? Honestly, this is the first time I've seen it, though I assumed they existed as an alternative to the Fate Coins..." Galahan muttered with a dazed expression.
"So... The Fate Coin suddenly appeared before you, and then your wounds opened, am I understanding this correctly?" Alex asked as he shook his hand.
Zayne nodded, at his will the Chaos Coin disappeared, then he looked at Alex, "Can you give me your knife?"
Alex grinned, "Hey, we're in a hospital, you can't come in here with weapons."
Zayne shook his head, "You do realize no one here believes you. Maybe I barely know you, but you're definitely not the type to follow the rules."
Alex shrugged, pulled a knife from behind his back, and handed it to Zayne.
"What are you planning to do?" Galahan asked with a slight frown.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Well... It's only a theory, but if I get wounded in the real world now too, there might be something else I can do." Zayne gripped the knife tightly as his pupils narrowed. He stared at the blade as if trying to ignite it.
Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.
Sparks came away from the knife as for a moment a pulse of blue flame passed over the blade, but, the next moment Zayne's eyes went wide as his many wounds opened again, with a mighty stream of blood.
"Agh!" Zayne clenched his teeth as the knife fell from his hands, bouncing off the ground several times before stopping.
Alex raised his weapon, ran his finger over the blade, and said, "Damn, you really almost did it, those scratches weren't here before."
"Except I don't understand something... Did you fail because you're wounded, or isn't that enough?" Galahan muttered, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.
Zayne inhaled, trying to take the pain away, "I don't know, but I doubt I could use the skill to its full potential even if I were completely healthy. Anyway, it looks like I'll have to stay here for a while, doesn't it?"
"Not really." Alex shook his head, "Except for the wound on your shoulder, the rest are all cuts and scrapes, given your regeneration I think they're almost healed by now, you can check that for yourself." Alex pointed to the mirror.
Zayne glanced at his body wrapped in bloody bandages and slowly got up. He felt strange, as for the first time in his life his whole body had been wounded, and it had moved into the real world.
Whoooooooooooooosh.
Zayne pulled on the bandage and pulled his top free. His torso was covered in wounds, but they were healing quickly, tightening and restoring his overall appearance.
Crackling.
Suddenly the door opened, and a nurse stepped inside. She looked at Zayne and blushed as her eyes went wide.
"Is something wrong?" Zayne asked with a cold stare at the girl.
"No... I just wanted to check on you... but it turns out you're already awake... Sorry to bother you!" The girl quickly walked out, closing the door behind her.
"Hmm? What's wrong with her?" Zayne tilted his head in confusion.
Alex shrugged, "I don't know, maybe she recognized you, though it's still weird. It's a private hospital, pretty high level, so it shouldn't be surprising for her to even meet celebrities."
"Agh, okay, now that we've got that sorted out, I'm going to go. I have to get back to work, unlike you, I can't spend all my time in Fallen Fate." Galahan sighed and with a wave of his hand headed for the exit.
The door closed, and only Alex and Zayne were left inside.
Alex threw one leg over the other and asked, "What are we going to do? Are you staying here, or should I take you home?"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmZayne looked out the window, the sunlight falling on his face, "Well, I guess I better get home. All I need to do is heal my wounds, I can do that with a potion, right?"
Alex nodded reflexively, but when he realized exactly what Zayne had said, his eyes went wide, "Wait... You said you could use a potion?"
Zayne nodded calmly.
"Hahahahahahahahahaha!!!"
The next moment Alex's laughter spread across the room, going even beyond the edges, echoing among the spacious hallways.
"What the hell...? Why are you laughing?" Zayne frowned.
"Hahaha, sorry, I just realized how stupid I was and how genius you really are." Alex slapped his leg trying to stop laughing, but he was barely able to do it.
Alex sighed and said with a sly smirk, "Because of the influence of the Chaos Coin, your physical condition is now the same in both worlds... so, in fact, you don't need medical attention. Any magic potion will be better than even the most expensive and effective medicine, won't it?"
Zayne remained silent until he said, "Yeah... Strange, when I said that I didn't even think about how it sounded. I guess I've been spending too much time in Fallen Fate."
Alex smirked, tossed up his hat, and headed for the exit, "Come on, I'll take you home, though I still suggest you get another good night's sleep first."
Zayne took his coat off the rack, threw it over himself, and followed Alex. He felt a slight pain with every step he walked, but he was used to feeling it by now.
'Agh... She said the scars were our memories of battles... Well, it seems she left me something forever.' Zayne muttered inwardly, touching his shoulder, which was covered with especially many layers of bloody bandages.
Ordinary wounds healed and disappeared without a trace, but the especially significant ones turned into scars, becoming part of the body.
Alex stepped forward confidently, a wide smile on his face. He was going to make the most of the information he received, as he knew better than anyone else how valuable the data could be.
