Every day was different for each individual. For one person's whole life could change in an instant, while for another person the usual routine was going on, but, over time, everyone reaches a moment of major change.
Zayne stood in front of the high tower, waiting for Solomon to approach. It was already evening as the blue moon slowly rose, replacing the sun and partially illuminating the huge Mage Academy.
Zayne wondered what Solomon had prepared for him, entering the territory of the Zexiton he had completely forgotten about his other, perhaps more important task.
The ring flashed brightly as a pulse of energy passed through his body, heading for his head. Different images began to appear in Zayne's mind, like pictures of where he was supposed to go. They were from different angles, engulfing his mind like a chaotic stream, then comes complete silence.
[Moon Knight Encounter
Use the energy of the spear to slowly approach one of the bases of the Shattered Moon, or take advantage of random pulses that indicate one of your mates is quite close!]
Zayne clutched at his head, it was quite painful, as if a multitude of needles pierced his mind, fast and sharp, leaving him with no other option but to get through it.
'Agh... Looks like I need to hurry, but all these images they're just torn apart... I hardly understand anything!' Zayne complained inwardly while shaking his head.
Tap.
Rea came up behind him as she put her hand on his shoulder.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Hey, you're here already, aren't you?" Rea smiled, "Looks like you've had time to rest properly, ready for the challenge?"
Zayne nodded, "Yeah, even though I don't know Solomon very well, but obviously when a mage of this level gets serious, it's going to be something challenging."
"You think I'm not serious at other times?" A quiet voice sounded as Solomon approached them, appearing out of nowhere.
Zayne was wary because he didn't want to offend Solomon in any way.
"Hah, relax." Solomon smiled as Zayne sighed in relief. Solomon glanced at his tower, then he looked away, "Well, follow me."
"Agh...? We're not going into the tower?" Zayne was puzzled.
Solomon shook his head, "I'll take you to a special place. Normally only second-year students are allowed in there under the supervision of a teacher, but this will be an exception to the rule."
Zayne gulped as he looked at Solomon gratefully. He realized he wasn't even a student at this academy or a mage, so Solomon had definitely made an effort for him.
They walked out of the first level, heading into the academy grounds. Along the way, they met many students rushing to class or for some other reason. They all stopped and bowed respectfully to Solomon, and he responded with a slight nod or simply walked by.
"Here." Solomon muttered, standing in front of the passageway leading deep down, only darkness was visible, nothing more.
Solomon waved his hand as many purple torches lit up on the walls, showing them the way to the crystal door, reflecting the light.
"Father... Are you sure...?" Rea murmured as her eyes went wide, she seemed to know what was hiding behind that door.
"Yeah. Don't worry. You'll be in my care." Solomon stepped forward.
Zayne was puzzled, he walked over to Rea and asked, "Hey... What's in there?"
Rea smirked, "You'll find out soon enough."
Tap.
Solomon put his hand to the crystal door, as it glowed brightly with many runes. A magical circle appeared, spinning rapidly like a lock on a safe.
The magic circle stopped as the door split in two, letting them in.
Zayne stepped inside, with a dazed expression looking around. There were many crystal mirrors, reflecting their silhouettes repeatedly as if there were endless passageways or even other worlds ahead.
"Zayne, the reason I told you to reach the First Ring of the Intelligence is that this training puts the most pressure on the mind." Solomon said calmly.
"I see... but, what about Rea? Has she already reached the First Ring...?" Zayne glanced at her as she looked away.
Solomon shook his head, "No, however, she's close to it, but, she's been trained in magic since childhood, so I think her mind is even stronger than yours for that matter."
"So... What are we going to do here...?" Zayne asked, looking around.
Solomon grinned, "Practice. Look, the mirror room is probably the best place to get better, but once you get past one trial, it loses its meaning."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"I see..." Zayne nodded.
"However, don't expect it to happen quickly. Go ahead, walk into the wall." Solomon waved his hand.
Zayne looked at him puzzled.
"This isn't the only room here, honestly I don't even know how many there are. Once you move into one of them your personal challenge will begin. You'll know the rest after you pass." Solomon grinned.
"Hah, I don't mean to sound arrogant, but after my recent victories, I'm pretty confident in my abilities. I've defeated quite a few tough opponents!" Zayne crossed his arms over his chest as fire appeared in his eyes.
Solomon sighed, "In that case, go for it."
Zayne nodded and headed straight for his reflection. He touched the mirror with his fingertips as ripples ran through it. His hand slowly dipped inside until the crystal swallowed him whole.
"Father... Who do you think he will meet?" Rea asked with a worried expression as she looked at Solomon.
"Well, it's abundantly obvious. Once you pass through the mirror, you will meet the strongest opponent you have ever fought to get through it again. However, the Mirror Room will show the full strength of the enemy based on Zayne's memories." Solomon said calmly, then he looked sternly at Rea, "You should go too."
Rea gulped, took a deep breath, and stepped into one mirror.
Step. Step. Step.
Zayne slowly paced forward amidst the darkness until he stopped and his eyes went wide. In front of him was a silhouette whose amber eyes were calm and whose crimson hair was partially illuminated by the scarlet flames surrounding it.
"Enar... Is that you...? I thought I would meet Selania here..." Zayne muttered in confusion, then a chill ran down his spine at Enar's majestic stride.
