Chapter 1799
Aside from the music box, there was no card, so Magdalen had no idea who’d sent it.
Curious, Magdalen cradled the little object in her hands, wondering who would gift her such thing? Those who knew
her were aware that she didn’t have an artistic side in her.
The moment she picked up the music box, it sprung to life, playing a short piano tune. The display showed that the
melody lasted only ten seconds.
A ten-second countdown accompanied each note, each second marked by a soft ‘ding’.
Estelle watched the music box intently until the tune had passed its halfway point. Suddenly, her expression
changed dramatically as she lunged towards Magdalen.
Everyone else seemed to catch on, their faces paling in terror as they backed away.
Even Kevin widened his eyes, instinctively retreating by a couple of steps.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtMagdalen was taken aback by everyone’s reaction. Suddenly, Estelle dashed forward and snatched the music box
from her hands.
With swift and agile movements, Estelle ran a few steps, forcefully throwing the music box towards a large window.
She then tackled Magdalen to the ground, yelling, “Get down!”
With a deafening ‘boom’, the music box exploded upon contact with the glass, the entire building trembling in the
aftermath. The shattered glass sparkled like fireworks, the room filled with dust and smoke. Two dressers near the
window were blown back, crashing into the wall.
It wasn’t until a while later that the room quieted down. People from the lower floors rushed up, their eyes widening
in shock at the sight of the destruction. They hurried to hetp the injured.
“Ella!”
Magdalen’s voice trembled as she looked at Estelle, “Are you okay?”
Estelle, numb from the shock, slowly stood up, helping Magdalen to her feet, “I’m fine. Check on the others, are
they hurt?”
“Magdalen!” Kevin rushed over, panic in his voice, “Magdalen, are you okay?”
Magdalen didn’t pay him any attention, her eyes only for Estelle. Seeing the bloody cuts on Estelle’s back from the
glass shards, she felt tears prick her eyes and yelled to the others, “Does anyone have a first aid kit? Bring it here!”
Estelle grabbed her hand, trying to reassure her, “Don’t panic. It’s just a small injury. I’m fine!”
Magdalen hugged her tightly, her heart still pounding, “Ella!”
The room was in chaos from the explosion. A couple of people had been injured by the glass shards, but thankfully
none too severely. The wedding dress, encased in a protective cover, was also unharmed.
But everyone was shaken up, their faces pale, their legs barely able to support them.
After all, who expected to experience something like this on a normal day?
Someone had called the police, and while a few stayed behind to clean up the mess; the rest went upstairs to rest.
After dressing her wounds, Estelle changed her clothes and went out, seeing Magdalen on the phone, who was
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmpresumably trying to track down the sender of the music box.
Awhile later, Magdalen hung up the phone and returned, her brows furrowing as she checked on Estelle’s injuries,
her eyes red.
“It’s nothing serious!” Estelle set down her clothes, asking, “Any leads?”
Magdalen shook her head, “They said the package was sent from abroad, but how did it pass through customs with
explosives inside?”
Estelle’s expression grew cold, “There’s a type of explosive that’s liquid. It solidifies after forty-eight hours and can
then be detonated. It’s probably that“
Magdalen felt a chill run down her spine, “Who wants me dead?”
Estelle asked, “Should we tell Morrison?”
After a moment’s thought, Magdalen responded, “I’ll look into it myself for now. If he finds out, he’ll probably keep
me locked up until the wedding. I’ll be extra cautious these next few days.
Estelle nodded, “Your company’s hostesses are reliable. Have them stay with you during this time”
As the two spoke, Kevin was helping bandage people’s wounds. Hearing Magdalen’s words, a thoughtful look
crossed his face.
