Sabina couldn’t help but notice Jonathan and Estelle joined at the hip at the party. Seeing this, she felt the rumor
mill in her head started churning. Were they about to go public with their relationship?
A flutter of panic seized her heart. Time was running out if she wanted to make a move.
But with her pride, there was no way she could bring herself to flirt with a man like Estelle did!
With that thought, she found her disdain for Estelle only grew stronger.
At the end of the evening, Grandpa Jarvis handed Magdalen a hefty cash gift, the kind that made your eyebrows
rise. As he prepared to leave, he gave her a warm and knowing look. “Getting married means you’re all grown up
now. No more tantrums or flying off the handle. You take good care of Morrison, hear it?”
Magdalen hugged him gently, with her eyes shimmering. “Grandpa, thank you for coming today. I promise to keep
your word in mind.”

With her eyes moist, Magdalen waved her hand and said, “Goodbye Grandpa!”
As Grandpa Jarvis’s car pulled away, Jonathan and Estelle made sure he was settled in comfortably. “Get some rest,
Grandpa. Ella and I will come visit you tomorrow!”
Grandpa Jarvis, having enjoyed a bit of wine, seemed in particularly good spirits. “Make sure Estelle gets something
to eat tonight. She barely touched her food just now.”
Jonathan nodded affirmatively. “I’ll take care of it, don’t you worry.”
After waving goodbye, Jonathan turned to Estelle and took her hand in his as Grandpa Jarvis’s car disappeared
down the street.
Estelle glanced back at Magdalen. “I should get going, too. Happy wedding night!”
Magdalen chuckled. “I was thinking of throwing an after-party, but someone has been missing you for ten days
straight. I wouldn’t want to interfere with your reunion. Let’s catch up tomorrow night!”
Estelle felt a blush crept into her cheeks; thankfully their conversation was drowned out by the crowd.
Magdalen handed her a neatly wrapped gift box. “Your bridesmaid’s present. Open it when you get home.”
Estelle eyed the small and elegantly wrapped box with a puzzled frown. “You didn’t have to prepare this.”
“Just wait until you open it,” Magdalen replied with a wink.
As Jonathan approached, Estelle felt a mix of confusion and anticipation. “Ready to head home?”
“Bye!” Magdalen waved them off with a smile.
Emily came over to say her farewells, while Charlie went to Mrs. James to discuss picking up Kya.
Mrs. James was hugging Kya tightly. “The weekend’s just around the corner. Why don’t you let Kya stay with me,
and you can come pick her up then?”
Charlie laughed lightly. “Whatever we agreed on stands. If you want to see more of Kya, you’ll have to negotiate

Mrs. James huffed. “I know you like Emily. No need to use that to threaten me.”
“Threaten you? Since when do you take to threats?” Charlie’s eyebrow arched with a touch of sass. “I’m just
looking out for Emily. You refuse to accept her, and yet she has to send her own child to the family estate to keep
you and Dad happy.”
Mrs. James’s face colored slightly. “You make it sound as if we’re bullying her.”
Charlie smirked. “Aren’t you?”
“We have nothing against Emily,” Mrs. James sighed, “it’s just that her family background is so complicated.”
“I’ve settled her father’s affairs for the rest of his life, and as for her mother, Emily won’t have anything to do with
her anymore. What’s there to worry about?” Charlie’s tone was calm but protective.
“It’s not so easy to cut family ties. Such people are dangerous; since they could break off with Emily over money,
you never know what they might do next.” Mrs. James’s expression was laced with concern. “I don’t want to have
the slightest connection with people of their kind.”
Charlie’s voice took on a steel edge. “For me, no trouble is too big when compared to the thought of losing Emily.
Everything else is trivial.”
