Chapter 83
Leonie cried her eyes out as she recounted the whole story, and then begged Sabina to ask Jonathan
to put in a good word for Sallie so that Charlie would let her off the hook.
“Oh, I see,” Sabina said in a flat tone. “Alright, I’ll talk to Mr. Lamont when he’s available”
“Please do, Sabina. Sallie is still locked up at the police station, and she’s never experienced anything
like this before. I’m sure she’s terrified. Please hurry.”
Sabina was getting a bit annoyed. I got it. I have a meeting to attend now. Talk to you later.”
Leonie still had more to say, but she didn’t dare call back as Sabina hung up the phone.
“What did Sabina say?” Stanley immediately asked.
“Well, she said she would talk to Jonathan, Leonie replied.
“That’s good, then!” Stanley breathed a sigh of relief.
Leonie was still womed, but she had no choice but to wait.

the meeting adjourned, and she followed Jonathan back to his office.
As Sabina recalled Leonie’s words, she pondered how to bring up the topic with Jonathan.
She felt embarrassed to even mention how Leonie and her daughter had been played like fools by a
man. It wasn’t the kind of story she wanted to share out of fear that Mr. Lamont might laugh at her
Jonathan sat behind his massive desk with a window behind him, overlooking half of J City. He was
wearing a well–fitted custom suit, looking handsome and nonchalant. As he signed a few documents,
he noticed Sabina’s serious expression and asked, “What’s up?”
Sabina hesitated. She had vowed to separate work from personal matters during her interview with The
Lamont Group. Now, she was afraid that bringing up private matters would ruin her image in Jonathan’s
eyes, especially something humiliating like this.
Suddenly, Jonathan’s phone rang, and he picked it up, walked to the window, and answered.
The sunlight streaming in highlighted his handsome figure. One hand in his pocket and the other
holding the phone, his low magnetic voice and dazzling look captivated Sabina
The caller was Estelle, who hadn’t seen Jonathan all morning. She’d learned from Henson that he’d
gone to the office.
“Are you at work?” she asked.
“Yeah, I had some unexpected business to take care of. What’s up?” he replied softly.
Estelle explained that Henson’s father’s birthday was approaching and he’d asked her to accompany
him to pick out a present that afternoon.
A soft smile appeared in Jonathan’s eyes as he asked, “You don’t want to go?”
There was a brief silence before Estelle answered, “Well, most people don’t usually like the family
tutors getting too close with their children, so I wanted to get your
opinion.”

Jonathan chuckled. “In your eyes, am I that strict about separating my personal and professional
lives?”
Estelle didn’t answer.
He continued gently, “Go ahead. Just be careful. If you see anything you like, feel free to buy it for
yourself, and have Fabian reimburse you. Consider it a perk.”
Estelle acknowledged his words before saying, “Alright, then I will leave you to work, Goodbye.”
Sabina was taken aback by Jonathan’s soft voice. She’d never heard him speak that way before.
Although she couldn’t see his expression, she could tell he was in a good mood Who was the person
on the other end of the call? It didn’t seem like a girlfriend.
When he hung up and turned around, Sabina stepped forward and broached the subject with poise and
grace. “Mr. Lamont, I have a favor to ask of you”
Jonathan looked up and asked indifferently, “What’s the matter?”
Sabina explained the situation with Leonie and her mother in great detail, feeling somewhat apologetic.
“My cousin has always been pampered by my aunt and acts impulsively without thinking in the heat of
the moment, she hurt Mr. James‘ girlfriend. But she’s still young, and going to jail would ruin her life. I
only wanted to ask for Mr Lamont’s help in putting a few good words to Mr. James”
