The group of city lord Yun Shin and his cabinet of elders stood opposite the black-beard elder sitting on the leader's seat as they heard the man speak. Exchanging baffling gazes, the men frowned as they couldn't understand who or what the Spirit Sword Sect elder was talking about; but among the group, the scar-faced man known as uncle Wang or Wang Wu smirked as he stood behind the city lord. But seconds after the city lord began speaking, Wang Wu heavily impaled a long black sword through his chest as it interrupted the city lord's speech.
Stab!
A stabbing sound echoed in the meeting hall as the clustered cabinet elders stood unreactive to it; instead, they watched as Wang Wu pierced the city lord's back.
"CITY LORD!"
City lord Yun Shin was interrupted by a sword piercing his back and appearing from his chest; the guards shouted simultaneously as they instinctively reached for their weapons. But before they could unsheathe their swords, four among the five cabinet elders instantly rushed at the alerted guards. They attacked the guards, heavily punching the bodies of the four guards as they got sent crashing into the pillars of the meeting hall, laying there breathless.
"I was already expecting your betrayal, Wang Wu."
Suddenly, the city lord, Yun Shin spoke with Wang Wu's black sword still embedded in his chest; he coughed a mouthful of blood as it sprayed before him; he slowly held the double-edged sword as he coated his hands with Qi, breaking the part piercing out of his chest the next instant. Seeing this, Wang Wu quickly retracted his broken sword from Yun Shin's chest and retreated a few steps back. He watched the broken part of the sword as he looked at Yun Shin with a murdering gaze.
"Ha, even now, you still strategize your next actions; what an annoying bastard you are, Yun Shin."
Wang Wu spoke as he stared at the city lord with a sword wound piercing his chest, but suddenly, a voice ragingly sounded out.
"You fucking traitor, how dare you!?"
Bu Jan was standing behind the clustered elders when he witnessed Wang Wu and the cabinet elders betray the city lord while killing his fellow guards; witnessing the unexpected event, Bu Jan couldn't react instantly as he never thought of the loyal elders and the elder-brother figure to the city lord would betray the city lord now of all times and boldly in broad daylight. His eyes widened, and he clenched his fists on his spear, bursting out with his cultivation Qi as he dashed at Wang Wu with the spear pointing outwards. He ragingly screamed as he launched at Wang Wu.
With Bu Jan rushing at him, Wang Wu slightly turned his head as he grinned, making some hand signs with his left hand. The next instant, the ground in the meeting hall trembled; instantaneously, a fist made of earth unexpectedly emerged from Bu Jan's right side it sent Bu Jan flying. Unexpectedly getting punched on the side, Bu Jan coughed out blood as the punch impact caused him to let go of his spear; his sent body heavily crashed into the pillars of the meeting hall and was thrown outside the building.

"Ha...little brother? Don't make me laugh. Wang Wu, you have always been greedy and selfish; you think I don't know about your dealings in the city and your pathetic spawn causing unforgivable acts all around the city? Do you think I don't know of your cooperation with the 'Spirit Sword Sect' and the 'Sign Killing Assassins'? I needed concrete evidence to kill you and your family since our fathers were friends, but now that I have it, your selfish and greedy days end here."
Yun Shin spoke as he slowly faced Wang Wu; he held the broken edge of the sword with his blood on it as he stared at the elders beside Wang Wu with an expressionless gaze. Raising the broken part of the sword, he pointed at the group and spoke.
"As for you guys, I intend to kill you today either way."
Hearing the city lord's words, the elders exchanged looks as if they had slightly fearful expressions; before they could rethink their actions, Wang Wu spoke.
"What are you guys waiting for? He's injured; he won't be capable of using his full strength. Attack."
With Wang Wu's words, the elders activated their specific cultivation techniques as they launched at their city lord; they instantly circled him and sent multiple attacks and skills simultaneously. Yun Shin remained at his spot as his eyes shifted to the incoming attacks. He clenched his bloody fists as he vanished after; appearing over the elders' heads, Yun Shin made daggers from Qi as he impaled them into the two heads of the two close elders. Landing, Yun Shin heavily kicked the belly of another elder as it shattering the elder's cultivation core and sending the elder flying half-dead. An elder used his family's cultivation skill and aimed for Yun Shin's head from the back, but he casually dodged the attack. Yun Shin swept under the elder's feet as he penetrated another formed Qi dagger into the elder's brains. He kicked the elder's impaled corpse as it flew before the high platform in the meeting room.
The Spirit Sword Sect elder sat unimpressed on the high platform as he witnessed the fight; he calmly leaned on the leader's seat and rested his jaw on his right hand. The male and female disciples stood on both sides of their master and watched the fight; as cultivators of higher ranks, they had already predicted the winner. It was an inevitable death for the elders. They saw the sent corpse of the elder as it landed before them; the elder's head had a large dagger hole, and his eyes opened wide and bleeding out. The trio of master and disciples unsympathetically watched the dead elder as they shifted their gazes to the fight scene; despite witnessing a one-sided killing, the three acted indifferently as if such scenes were normal to them.
Yun Shin stood facing the remaining elder; seeing the others dying in gruesome manners, the remaining elder shivered in fright as he retreated multiple steps back; he then looked at Wang Wu with his frightened expression as he panically spoke.
"Elder Wang, we....need.. to...work to"
Slice!
Before the elder could finish his words, Wang Wu used the broken sword to slice off his head.
"What use is there in saving a useless pawn." Wang Wu stood with his broken sword as he looked at Yun Shin; he slowly held on to his upper clothing, tearing it the next moment and revealing his muscular figure. He pointed the broken sword at Yun Shin as he spoke.
"Now it's your turn to die." DASH!
Wang Wu threw the broken sword at Yun Shin as he continued his attack; Yun Shin casually dodged the sent projectile as he held his right arm; a black ring on his index finger emerged from which a long green sword emerged. The green sword shone with brilliant energy as it fell into Yun Shin's hand. Seeing the sword in Yun Shin's possession, Wang Wu immediately began making multiple hands signs with both hands as he spoke. "Array technique, earth controlling formation," multiple fists emerged from the ground as they aimed for the city lord. But using his mid-grade sword, Yun Shin easily sliced the earth fists before they even reached him; seeing this, Wang Wu spread his arms as the earth gathered on them, forming an earth fist as he finally clashed with Yun Shin.
Boom!
A loud boom echoed from the meeting hall as it alerted the guards of the city lord's manor and attracted the nearby attention of some visiting cultivators; the maids in little Yun Lan's room were far away from the meeting hall, exempting them from the disruption. Some nearby city guards headed for the meeting hall as they ran at fast speeds.
At the Blue Sky Inn, the escorts of Wang Wei obeyed his orders as they headed for the second floor; they held their unsheathed swords with killing auras emitting from their bodies; the surrounding customers shivered in fright as they avoided the gazes of the three guards. Reaching the second floor, the three guards looked towards the balcony, but there was a blind shrouding the terrace from inside and outside gazes, rendering the guards unable to see the figures occupying the balcony. Upon seeing the mentioned balcony, the three guards walked towards it as their killing auras increased; the maids serving other customers cleared the path as they avoided the group.
"...-" SPLAT! SPLAT!
Approaching the balcony, one of the three guards firmly clenched his sword as he attempted to speak, but his head splattered before opening his mouth, causing blood to splatter in their surroundings. The second guard also experienced the same unfortunate event as his head exploded simultaneously; with his comrades unexpected head explosions, the third guard stood stunned as he unconsciously dropped his sword. He intensely gazed at the balcony as he subconsciously took a step back. But suddenly.
"ARHHHH!"
Screams burst out on the second floor as some nearby customers passed out from shock. Not all of these citizens were cultivators; even if they were, they weren't accustomed to seeing human heads explode daily. And now, two human heads just exploded without any enemy attack, just like that. The second floor burst into commotion as the customers hurriedly rushed for the stairs, some even using the windows as the stairway was clustered with people heading down, but while most of the customers screamed in panic and tried to leave the inn, some cultivators occupying different tables remained in their spots without the slightest reaction to the situation.
On the first floor, Wang Wei and manager Lu heard the bustling commotion as they saw people rushing down the stairs. Seeing this, they smiled as manager Lu took advantage of the opportunity and asked.
"Since young master Wang is happy, how about you make this manager happy as compensation?"
"Hmm, what do you want this time?"
"Haha, how dare I ask much; I only request young master Wang to introduce me to his father. I believe my services have earned me such compensation, don't you think?"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Hmm, your services have indeed been pleasing the past few weeks. I shall introduce you to my father after getting those bastards' heads and enjoying myself first."
"Of course, I shall patiently wait until young master Wang fulfills his needs," 'Finally, I get to meet lord Wang, with his son's favorability towards me; I should already be on his good side. Although today's commotion would surely reach the city lord, I can blame everything on young master Wang while bringing me closer to the higher-ups.'
Manager Lu thought as he calmly stood beside Wang Wei with shut eyes.
After what felt like three minutes and most of the customers had exited the inn, Wang Wei and manager Lu watched the stairs as they expected the guards to bring their heads already; but suddenly, they saw one guard walking down the stairs as he had a terrified expression. Seeing the guard, Wang Wei angrily spoke.
"What the fuck took you so long to handle some weak cultivators?"
But while Wang Wei angrily spoke, manager Lu noticed the lack of killing aura the guards left with and their numbers; he slowly opened his eyes and noticed the splattered human organs attached to the guard's bronze armor. He frowned and spoke.
"Young master Wang, I think something is wrong; only one guard returned."
"Hmm? hey you, where are the others?"
Wang Wei saw the guard approaching them as he angrily asked; the guard didn't answer but slowly approached the two with a sword in his hand; the guard looked like he was dead but alive. Standing closer to the two men, the guard instantly slashed the heads of Wang Wei and manager Lu, and the next second, he exploded.
Yun Shin and Wang Wu clashed at the meeting hall as the impact caused the nearby seats to scatter in pieces. Wang Wu used his earth fists and punched at Yun Shin, blocking the attacks; Yun Shin countered Wang Wu as they engaged in an intense battle. Yun Shin slashed his long green sword at Wang Wu's head, dodging the sword; Wang Wu punched the chest of the city lord as he blocked it with his sword. Both parties launched at each other as they used multiple techniques and skills to counter and attack each other. The Spirit Sword Sect elder sat in the distance as he created a barrier protecting him and his disciples from the spreading projectiles and debris; they maintained their unimpressed expressions as they observed the fight like entertainment.
Bu Jan lay in a crater outside the meeting hall as he bled from his nose and ears. He coughed as he remained lying on the ground.
'The city lord won't be able to face Wang Wei and the Spirit Sword Sect's people alone. What would happen to the lady and the little Miss if we both die? I must become stronger to protect the Yun family; that was the promise I made to the old city lord for saving me from the streets. None of these would happen if I had the strength and the power to counter those bullying sects and higher regions. If only the heavens would grant me strength; if only I can be stronger.'
Bu Jan contemplated his life as he lay on the ground bleeding and unable to move a finger, but when he thought he was at his end, 'roar,' he heard a lion's roar resounding in his head.
Yun Shin and Wang Wu continued their fight in the meeting hall as the battle slowly shifted in favor of Yun Shin despite having a large hole in his chest. But a few distances away from the fight scene, an ordinary-looking spear lay in the debris of the shattered pillars and chairs; the next second, the spear began vibrating.
