Chapter 127

Allison's cheeks flushed a deep shade of red as she quickly turned away, trying to deny it. "Wh-what are you

talking about? I'd never say something like that..."

Joshua's lips curled into a playful grin. "Oh really?"

"Of course! | mean, how could I possibly say something like that with so many people around..." Allison's voice

faded into a murmur.

Oh no. Something was coming back to her. Last night, maybe she did say those things?

"I was just rambling!"

The soft morning light filtered through the window, highlighting her rosy cheeks.

Allison bit her lip, clearly embarrassed. "You know | was drunk and talking nonsense. You wouldn't hold that

against me, right?"

Her words lacked confidence as she mumbled, "When you're drunk, you can't really control or even recognize

your actions. It's like being, uh, ‘legally impaired’ or something..."

Joshua laughed quietly, his shoulders shaking with amusement. "Givinga legal lesson, are we?"

In reality, being drunk doesn't legally make you a 'person with limited capacity.’ Allison was just trying to wiggle

out of the situation.

Knowing she was caught, Allison huffed, trying to wriggle free from Joshua's embrace.

Joshua kept his arms securely around her waist. "Are you running away? Did you forget how you were teasing me

last night? Are you trying to flirt and then bolt?"

The subtle scent of his body wash lingered, and Allison recognized it as the one she always used.

Joshua leaned in for a kiss, his fingers weaving through her hair. Their kiss was urgent and intense, like a

summer thunderstorm or a fierce winter wind—powerful and impossible to resist.

"Allie, is this okay?"

The morning light grew brighter,

filling the room with warmth. Allison knew where this was heading. She was trembling, half-nervous and half-

excited. She loved Joshua and was craving a deeper connection with him.

Outside, the birds sang sweetly, making everything seem just right. It was a perfect, romantic morning.

Just as they were about to take things further, a phone rang. The sudden noise was jarring in the quiet room.

Joshua's face showed a flicker of annoyance. He wanted to ignoreat and keep going, but Allison got startled,

blushed and pulled away. She stammered, "Uh... your phone's ringing."

Joshua's eyes, still dark with desire, softened as he spoke in a low, teasing voice, "Why are you running away?

I'm not going to bite."

"You, you should answer it..."

Joshua picked up his phone, the heat in his eyes fading back to his usual calm demeanor.

It was Lillian calling.

Why was she up so early? Joshua found his sister a bit annoying at that moment, and his voice showed his

impatience. "What's up?"

Lillian's excited voice cthrough.

"Hey, Joshua! There's a meteor shower tomorrow night. Want to

check it out? The best view is from North Ridge. Let's go hiking!

As he listened, Joshua glanced at Allison, standing nearby, and his gaze softened.

A meteor shower? Allie would probably love that. She'd been working hard, and since tomorrow was the

weekend, it would be a great way to relax.

Joshua replied coolly, "Sounds good."

With that little interruption, their earlier romantic tension completely evaporated.
