Allison chuckled, "I've tackled mountains taller and trickier than this. I've climbed the Rockies from top to

bottom, so this little hill is no big deal."

Joshua's eyes gleamed with adoration and pride, his smile warm. "You are something else."

Joshua was well aware of this, but Shawn had no clue.

Back when Allison was with Shawn, she'd often suggest going hiking, but Shawn always claimed he was too busy

or that it was too tiring. He didn't get Allison's interests and never made the effort to join her.

After a bit of walking, Shawn suddenly paused, stepping aside to let others pass.

When Joshua and Allison caught up, Shawn extended a hand to Allison. "Allie, feeling tired?"

Allison gave a tight smile. "Not at all."

Joshua swung their tightly clasped hands. "No need for your concern."

Shawn lowered his gaze, eyes fixed on their intertwined hands.

Allison snapped, "Move it. You're blocking the way."

Shawn stood firm, with no intention of moving.

Joshua glanced at him with a teasing grin. "Want a front-row seat to our love story? Fine by me. We'll walk ahead,

and you can enjoy the view from behind."

With that, Joshua pushed past Shawn, grinning provocatively. "Don't forget to capture sgood shots for us."

Lillian, not much for physical activities, started complaining about being tired after just half an hour. She took off

her light backpack and, when Joshua cover, tried to hand it to him.

"Joshua, I'm so tired. Can you carry this for me?" she asked sweetly.

Joshua pointed to his own backpack, his tone indifferent. "I can't. I've got my own load."

Lillian kept on, "But I'm really tired. Please, just this once?"

“Alright.”

Lillian's face lit up when Joshua agreed, a smile spreading across her lips.

But then Joshua pulled out his

Lillian's smile froze, eyes wide with shock. "Joshua, you're sendingdown the mountain?"

Joshua didn't even look up as he continued dialing. "Yeah, you said you were tired." Panicking, Lillian quickly

stopped him. "No, no, | just rested a bit and suddenly don't feel so tired."

She quickly shouldered her backpack again. "Really, I'm not tired anymore. Don't call them." "Then let's keep

going," Joshua said, pocketing his phone without a hint of expression.

Allison's eyes sparkled with a hint of

The last stone was a bit of a stretch for the girls, and the others needed help crossing.
