Chapter 228
The young girl gently pressed her lips together, feeling grateful for Allison's kindness. "Thanks, Ms. Allison."
"Hey, we're off the clock. Just callAllie or even Allison," Allison insisted with a warm smile.
Joy grinned, "Alright, Allison."
Allison picked a cozy spot by the window. "The view's fantastic here; you can see the city lights twinkling."
"Yeah," Joy replied, taking a seat across from Allison, still a bit shy.
"Go ahead and order whatever you like," Allison said, passing her the menu.
Joy waved it off, "You choose. I'm good with anything."
Allison nodded and took the menu back, ordering sclassic barbecue and a few veggies.
The raw meat arrived swiftly, and the server took care of the grilling. Once the meat was perfectly cooked and
plated, Allison thanked the server and let them go.
"So, what's been going on?" Allison asked, leaning in a little.

With no one else around and the vibe just right, Joy opened up. "It's nothing huge, just got an earful from Patricia
today."
"Patricia Collins?"
"Yeah."
Patricia was Joy's mentoring attorney. Allison hadn't dealt with her much but had heard bits from colleagues.
Patricia was known for her unpredictable moods- super kind on a good day but could take it out on her assistants
when she was in a bad mood.
A guy who started the sday as Joy quit after Patricia yelled at him twice. He hadn't passed the bar, so he
was just an assistant and could leave easily, but Joy was in a different boat. She'd passed the bar in April and
needed to wrap up a year-long internship before she could move on, meaning she was tied down till next April.
Allison asked, "Why did she go off on you?"
"There's this tough divorce client who's a nightmare to deal with."
Joy sighed, looking stressed. "I asked her for evidence, and she just ignored me. She wouldn't cooperate over the
phone either. Patricia

As Joy told her story, tears started to well up.
Allison handed her stissues. "Hey, con, it'll be alright. How about you

becmy assistant? I'll have a word with the manager."
Joy looked up, surprised. "Really? Is that even possible?"
"Absolutely. Your internship is with the firm, not specifically under Patricia. You
can work with any mentoring attorney."
Joy beamed at Allison's encouragement. "Thank you, Allison."
"There you go, no more tears. Cheer up."
"Okay."
Once they finished their meal, Allison got up to settle the bill.
As she took a couple of steps, a couple ctowards them.
"Allison?" The man, with charming eyes, greeted her with a friendly smile. Allison looked at him, puzzled. "And
you are?"
