Chapter 254

Olivia was taken aback by the pale, fragile face she saw when the door opened. "Allie, what happened to you?"

she exclaimed.

Allison responded weakly, "I'm alright."

Quickly, Olivia stepped in to support her. "I brought the family doctor along. Let's have him check on you."

"Okay," Allison agreed.

After examining her, the doctor gave Allison a shot and prescribed smedication. Hearing that she'd likely

feel better by tomorrow, Olivia let out a relieved sigh.

Allison woke up naturally the next day, feeling well-rested. Checking her phone, she found several missed calls-

from Javier, Linda, and her close friends Sabrina and Olivia. Most were just checking on her.

Returning Javier's call, she assured him she'd be home. “Allie, are you joining us for lunch? We're waiting for

you," he asked.

It was eleven. There was still tto make it for lunch. "Sure," she replied.

As she drove through the gated community, heading toward the Owens family home, she noticed a familiar

Cullinan in the distance. The license plate confirmed it was Joshua's car. Passing by the Fisher family's house was

unavoidable on her way home.

Her grip on the steering wheel tightened, a bitter feeling rising within her.

The Owens family made sure lunch was lavish. Alongside Allison's favorite homemade dishes, there were treats

like lobster, king crab, and caviar.

The meal was a joyful affair, filled with warmth and laughter.

Afterward, Allison and Lizzy took a leisurely walk in the garden, chatting away. Suddenly, Allison looked up and

saw a woman standing in the neighboring yard.

It was Megan.

Allison froze, her feet glued to the ground.

Noticing her sister's halt, Lizzy looked up, wide-eyed. "What happened?"

Allison stood rigid, eyes fixed on Megan in the Fisher family's yard. Megan noticed her too and waved with a

bright, cheerful smile. To Allison, that smile was blinding.

She didn't move, ignoring Megan's greeting.

Just then, Joshua stepped out of the house. Megan turned, said something to him, and pointed in Allison's

direction.

Realizing what was happening, Allison's breath hitched.

A moment later, Joshua glanced over at her. Their eyes met across the short distance, connecting in the crisp

January air of Oak Lake. The biting northern wind crept through her collar and sleeves, leaving Allison chilled to

her core.

Joshua only spared her a brief look before turning away, resuming his conversation with Megan as they headed

back inside. He'd brought Megan hto meet his family. Were they getting engaged?

A piercing pain shot through Allison's chest.

It had been nearly a month since she and Joshua broke up. She thought she had moved on, but seeing Megan in

the Fisher family's yard made Allison realize she hadn't let go at all.
