Chapter 269

Valentine's Day rolled around on February 14th, and Allison wasn't interested in the festivities. She was single

and fully engrossed in her new law firm, leaving no room for romantic distractions.

Her office space was still undergoing renovations when Zach somehow dug up the address and decided to make

a grand gesture by sending sixty-six floral arrangements to mark her new venture.

Allison was in a café with Watson, hashing out the details of a potential partnership, when her phone buzzed. It

was the contractor.

"Hey, Ms. Allison, someone sent over sixty-six flower arrangements, and they're taking over the hallway and

office. Could you swing by and sort it out? We can't keep working like this."

"Sixty-six arrangements? Is there a non them?"

"Yeah, sguy named Zach."

Just hearing his nmade Allison's head throb. She took a deep breath, massaging her temple with a look of

sheer exasperation. "Alright, I'll head over and sort it out. Take a breather in the meantime."

After ending the call, she turned to Watson. "There's a hiccup at the firm | need to handle. Sorry, we'll have to

push back signing the contract."

"No worries at all."

Watson stood up with her, his tone warm and understanding. "If it's firm-related, mind if | tag along?"

Allison paused, mulling it over before nodding. "Sure, since you're going to be a partner here, it's good for you to

see the place."

"Sounds good."

When they reached the firm, Allison's eyes landed on the sea of bouquets, and she couldn't help but frown. She

picked one up and read the message on the ribbon.

"Congrats on the grand opening of Allie's Law Firm. -Zach"

She rolled her eyes. A grand opening, like she was launching a store or something.

Watson caught the message too. "Zach, huh?"

Allison rubbed her forehead in frustration. "Yeah, sorry about this scene."

"Mind if | ask who Mr. Zach is?" Watson asked, his gaze downcast, making it hard to gauge his thoughts.

Since Watson was going to be her partner, Allison felt it necessary to clear things up to avoid any

misunderstandings that could mess with their collaboration. "He's my ex. We broke up over six months ago."

"Ex-boyfriend..." Watson murmured under his breath.

"Yep, sorry for the awkwardness."

Watson suddenly asked, "Wasn't your ex Joshua?"

Allison blinked in surprise. "How'd you know?"

Watson adjusted his glasses. "Sabrina mentioned something."

Truth be told, he had been keeping tabs on her engagement to Joshua, but now wasn't the tto dive into that.

Allison awkwardly continued, "Zach was my first boyfriend. | met him when | worked in Havenbrook after

graduation. When we broke up, | cback to Oak Lake and was gearing up to get engaged to Joshua. But then

things fell apart,

and that ended too."

Watson just nodded, staying quiet.

Allison assured him, "I'll get these flowers dealt with pronto. Don't worry, Zach

won't disrupt the firm's operations."

"All good."

She called in a cleaning crew, and in

under half an hour, they whiskedne

away all sixty-six bouquets. With the space cleared, the renovation team get back to work.

Allison and Watson strolled around the floor, chatting about the layout and design of the office space.

During a quick break, one of the contractors grinned and asked, "Ms. Allison, are you and your boyfriend setting

up this firm together?"
