Chapter 274

The necklace gift box was carelessly tossed into the storage cabinet.

Over at Olivia's place, Sabrina was practically glued to her brand-new handbag.

Olivia, looking a tad uneasy, asked, "Sabrina, are we really doing the right thing here?"

Sabrina brushed it off with a casual, "Don't fret."

"But as Allie's close friends, aren't we kind of betraying her trust?"

"Oh, relax! All we did was give out an address. Joshua's got it under control; he won't do anything crazy. No need

to worry."

Olivia's face was clouded with concern. "If Allie finds out we bought those flowers because we felt guilty, do you

think she'll be upset?"

Sabrina coughed awkwardly, "What are you talking about? It's not guilt! Those flowers are... a symbol of

friendship!"

"Exactly!" Sabrina nodded vigorously, as if trying to convince herself, "A symbol of friendship!"

Olivia simply sighed.

"Sabrina, weren't you just saying the other day that Allie and Watson were perfect together? Why the sudden

switch to supporting Joshua on Valentine's Day?"

"Well, he did offer more, didn't he? Plus, Brian said Joshua had his reasons for breaking up with Allie and plans to

make it right soon. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt this time. We've known him forever, so it's no biggie to

help him out, right?"

Olivia mused, "I guess you've got a point."

Meanwhile, in Joshua's office, his right-hand man, Thomas, cin with an update.

"Joshua, do you remember the London case that Allison was dealing with?"

Joshua nodded, "Yeah, what's up with it?"

Thomas continued, "The guy running the London factory, Blake, has a boss named Wesley. | sent you his info

before."

"Yeah, I'm aware."

Wesley dabbles in both shady and legit businesses, running a bunch of companies. He uses scapegoats as the

face of these companies, which seem Clean on the surface but are seemclean involved in illegal activities behind

the scenes. sw

Joshua's demeanor shifted to serious, "Cut to the chase."

Thomas explained, "Wesley's in cahoots with Chris. We just found out Wesley's

been laundering money for him."

Joshua's eyes turned steely, "Do we have solid proof?"

Thomas looked down and admitted, "We've got sevidence of Wesley's crimes. After laundering money,

Wesley sends it to an offshore account in someone else's name. With the evidence we have, we can only nab

Wesley. Chris doesn't have much pull in Country Z, relying mostly on Wesley and his crew. If we take Wesley

down, Chris will lose a major ally here."

"Move now," Joshua ordered firmly. "Hand over the evidence to the authorities

and help them bring Wesley in."

"Got it."

By early March, Allison's law firm was all spruced up.

After making sure the place was free from any nasty chemicals, Allison and Watson went on a shopping spree for

office essentials like desks, chairs, computers, stationery, and file folders.

Besides Watson, a new partner joined the firm—a classmate of his named Dominic, who specializes in criminal

defense.

With Dominic on board, Watson took charge of hiring several attorneys, from fresh-faced rookies to seasoned

pros.
