Chapter 91

“This car.....” Shawn's voice trailed off, a mix of nostalgia and regret filling the air.

He remembered it vividly. Back in Havenbrook, Allison was behind the wheel of this very car. Kate had once

ridiculed her for being so superficial, spending big bucks just to rent a fancy car for photos. At the time, Shawn

had nodded along, believing Kate was spot on. But now? Now he felt like the biggest fool in the world for ever

thinking that way.

Then, a sudden thought hit him like a freight train, and his face went ghostly pale.

"Is that ring you're wearing the one you tried on at Tiffany's?" Shawn's voice shook as he spoke. "We hadn't even

broken up then, Allison. Were you already planning to move on?"

"You betrayed me!" Shawn's eyes were bloodshot, filled with a mix of anger and hurt. "How could you?"

Allison had enough of these accusations. She let out a bitter laugh. “Really? Didn't you say you were always

trying to find Kate in me?"

Shawn froze, his face drained of color. "You... you knew?"”

Allison's gaze was icy. “Oh, | knew alright. | knew when you said you had s'urgent work meeting" that night,

you were lying through your teeth. You were at the airport picking up Kate. On Pearl's birthday, after you left with

her, you two checked into a hotel. We hadn't even split up then, Shawn, and you were already rotten to the core.

What right do you have to talk about betrayal?"

Shawn's eyes brimmed with pain, and he shook his head. “No, Allison, you've got it all wrong. Please, let me

explain..."

But Allison wasn't interested in his excuses. She got into her car, ignoring him completely.

As she revved the engine, Shawn stood in front of the car, pounding on the hood and mouthing words she

couldn't hear.

With a sigh of frustration, Allison pressed the gas pedal.

"Thud-"

Shawn didn't move fast enough and ended up sprawled in the bushes.

Allison's expression didn't change. Without sparing him a glance, she turned the car around and drove off,

unconcerned about his well-being.

Shawn gritted his teeth as he struggled to stand, his leg aching with each step. As he watched the blue Bentley

vanish from sight, his heart sank deeper into a pit of despair.

A passerby, who had seen the whole thing, approached Shawn with concern. "You alright? That car just took off.

Aren't you gonna call the cops?"

Shawn shook his head, trying to play it cool. "Nah, it's just a spat with my wife.”

The passerby nodded, a knowing look on his face. "Ah, relationship , huh? Man, your wife seems pretty

intense. You heading to court for a divorce?"

Shawn managed a weak smile. "Not at all. We're good. She's just blowing off steam. A bit of sweet talk, and it'll

be fine."

The passerby looked at him, eyebrows raised in disbelief.

Over at Summit & Vale Law Firm, the break room was buzzing with chatter.

“Did you hear? Nicole from the litigation department just quit.”

"Seriously? That's so out of the blue. Why'd she just leave?"

Chapter 91

"Beats me. Rumor has it she resigned on her own."

Unfazed by the gossip, Allison walked past them, her face a mask of indifference, and headed straight to her

office.

She'd barely settled in when the door flew open with a bang. “Allison, what the hell? You're suing me?" Jack burst

in, yelling.

Allison didn't even glance his way, her focus on the computer screen. “Yeah, it's for libel and slander. Pretty

standard stuff, really. What's the big surprise?"

Jack's glare was icy. "Slander? | didn't make anything up. Everything | said was true. How's that slander?" "Take it

up with the judge,” Allison replied, her tone as cool as ever.

"Drop the lawsuit, or you'll regret it!" Jack threatened, his voice full of venom.

In cases of libel and slander, the plaintiff has to personally file the suit. But if the defendant is found guilty, it

turns into a criminal matter, and they'll face serious consequences.

Jack, being a lawyer, had a lot to lose. A conviction would mean losing his license, barring him from practicing

law or even taking the bar exam again. Essentially, it would be the end of his legal career.
