But Jared, ever calm, opened the container. “Eat first. I remember you wanted chicken soup. I finally made some.”

With a cold voice, Jared scolded, ‘Agnes, I spent two hours on that soup. You didn’t have to waste it.”

“You ignored me first,‘ she countered.

“I heard you,” he replied.

“Then let’s not delay. I want a divorce.”

His eyes grew cold. “No.”

As Agnes began to explain her reasons, Jared interjected, “Alyssa already told me about everything”

Agnes was stunned, not expecting Alyssa to share their past with him. She wondered if Alyssa feared Jared’s

potential resentment.
