Chapter 472
Agnes announced to the press, obviously burning her bridges. Once the media reports, there’s no turning back.
Agnes seemed a bit dazed, finally saying to the journalists, “I’m just afraid I’ll regret it.”
The media went wild with the news of Agnes and Jared’s divorce. Their high–society love story had ended in ruins,
leading many to claim they no longer believed in love. But a lot of women were thrilled, thinking the position of Mrs.
Whitfield was finally up for grabs. Jared, though, hadn’t said a peep, but he did throw his phone when he saw the
news. That tidbit had made the rounds over at the Tim Group.
After holing up at home for two days, Agnes emerged on the third day to visit Century Entertainment. There were a
lot of things she needed to discuss with Ivan. Ivan sighed, “I’m the one who brought you into the entertainment
industry, but I know your heart’s not in it. If you want to leave, I won’t oppose. You’re with Starlight International

Agnes said, “Ivan, I want you to take over Starlight International Group. I’m just a figurehead there, the actual
shares all belong to Century Entertainment. So, Ivan, I’m handing Starlight International Group over to you.”
Ivan was stunned, “I can manage Starlight International Group for you, no problem. But from what you’re saying,
are you leaving?”
Agnes gave a little laugh, answering, “I’m planning to study abroad.”
Ivan was silent for a while, saying, “You want to leave this place that’s brought you so much sorrow, huh? I never
expected you and Jared would end up like this.”
Agnes forced a smile, trying to look relaxed, “It’s my destiny, I don’t have any regrets.”
Do you want to see Jared before you leave? He’s not doing too well lately.”
Agnes lowered her head, “No, we’re no longer connected.”
She managed to suppress the urge to ask what was wrong with Jared.
Ivan sighed deeply, “Then let me treat you to dinner tonight, consider it my farewell to you. If you ever have any
problems, you can always come to me.”
Agnes went and hugged Ivan, “Thank you, Ivan. I’m leaving Starlight International Group in your hands, I feel
relieved now.”
“Agnes, just so we’re clear, I’m only managing Starlight International Group for you temporarily. You’ll have to take
it back eventually. Don’t think you can throw this difficult business on me, I’m a shrewd businessman, I don’t do
deals that lose money.”
Agnes laughed, answering, “Alright, you can manage it temporarily for me.”
That night, Agnes, Ivan, and Mamie had dinner together. Mamie was angry the whole time. Agnes tried to placate
her, but she remained upset. In the end, Agnes gave up and just chatted with Ivan. Then, Mamie couldn’t help but

ask, “Agnes, are you really leaving? Even if you’ve divorced Jared, you still have friends here, are you really going
abroad?”
Ivan chimed in, “Agnes is going abroad to further her studies.”
Mamie shot him a look, “Do you think I’m stupid? She’s running away! If she really leaves for a few years, what will
happen to Jared? They’ll have no chance of getting back together.”
Agnes laughed.
She had just divorced, and Mamie was already hoping she’d remarry Jared.
Agnes said, “There’s no chance of us getting back together. After I leave, we’ll forget each other, and that’s not a
bad thing.”
Mamie’s face turned serious, “You’re callous, but I don’t think Jared can survive without you. Look at him now, he’s
worn out, he’s not the Jared I know. He’s living alone at Maplewood Manor, drinking all day. When I went to see him
yesterday, I could hardly recognize him.”
