Chapter 174
Chapter 174
Life couldn't imagine just how big of a challenge Sarah was about to present her with today. Her body had
already begun reacting unusually, anticipating what was coming.
The location Sarah had chosen for the meeting was itself a challenge. It was a club in the eastern suburbs, at
least an hour and a half away from Lupier. As she parked her car outside the club, her phone suddenly rang. It
was a call from the caregiver. She leaned on the car door with one hand while answering the phone with the
other.
"Ms. Joyner, something's happened. You need to cto the hospital quickly!"
Lily's eyelid twitched even harder. "What happened?"

Without hesitation, she returned to the car, closed the door, and started the car engine.
"A crazy woman showed up, saying your brother needs to pay for her daughter's life. Your brother was so upset...
he just... tried to kill himself!"
As the caregiver finished speaking, the phone slipped from Lily's hand and fell into the seat gap, but she could
still hear the caregiver's voice.
"The doctors are trying to save him. How soon can you get here?"
"..." Lily's throat felt clogged, making it hard for her to speak. "You contact my parents first. I'll head over now!"
It would take at least an hour to get to the hospital. She didn't even bother retrieving the phone from under the
seat. With one foot on the accelerator, she sped off.
The car was eerily silent, but a buzzing noise filled her ears. Her hands and feet mechanically controlled the car.
Under the seat, her phone kept ringing, but she couldn't hear it. She didn't know how much thad passed
before the ringing stopped, leaving only the roaring sound of the engine. An hour later, Lily rushed into the
emergency room, but her legs gave way as soon as she reached the door, and she nearly collapsed.
A strong arm crossed her waist, preventing her from falling, and lifted her upright. It was Xavier. His brows were
furrowed, his eyes dark and intense as he helped her sit in a chair. Breathing heavily, she instinctively gripped
his arm and said, "Hayden_"
"He's still in surgery." He pointed toward the red light above the emergency room. "It was discovered in time, so
he's not in immediate danger. He's still receiving a blood transfusion." hayden had tried to commit suicide by
cutting his wrists in the bathroom. The bathroom door wasn't locked, but he didn't make a sound from the
moment he cut his wrists until he lost consciousness. The caregiver had been waiting outside, and only when
blood began to seep under the door did she realize something was wrong
The surgery had taken so long because of the blood transfusion and because the patient had a low will to
survive.
Before Lily arrived, Rowan had stepped out to explain the situation. Bobby and Hazel had gone in to see him and,
upon coming out, had retreated to a comer, tears streaming down their faces.

"Can | see him?" Lily gripped Xavier's pinky finger and looked up at him, tears that had not fallen during the
entire journey now welling up in her eyes. He pulled out his phone and dialed Rowan. "Get ready. She wants to
see Hayden one last time."
He then reached into his pocket and pulled out a handkerchief, gently wiping the tears from the corner of her
eyes.
The call ended quickly, and the door to the emergency room opened.
Rowan had only prepared one sterile suit so that Lily could enter. She hurriedly put on the suit and followed
Rowan into the emergency room.
Cold, mechanical sounds surrounded the operating table, which felt as sterile as the environment. Yet, the
person on the table, still warm to the touch, seemed colder than the machines. His chest's rise and fall were
barely noticeable.
"Talk to him more. If you can make him desire to survive, it might help," Rowan said, glancing at the machine's
readings without lifting his head. Lily leaned over, supporting herself on the table. She whispered in Hayden's
car, "Hayden, If you leave, what will | do? No one will loveanymore....."
