“You’re awake, Ms. Sorelle.” At that moment, Francesca walked out of the kitchen with a plate of dinner rolls.
“That’s fantastic. Mr. Golding told me to take care of you last night. I was by your bedside all night, taking your
temperature every hour. I was confused to see that you were still unconscious even though you didn’t have a
fever.”
As soon as she said that, Evander slammed the mug onto the table and cast her a reproachful look.
Francesca didn’t dare to say another word and placed the dinner rolls next to him.
However, warmth washed over Angeline. No wonder I felt someone by my side while I was sleeping. It’s pretty
unexpected of him to get someone to take care of me.
“I owe you one, Mr. Golding…”
“There’s no need to thank me.” Evander’s tone was extremely cold. As he applied some chocolate spread to the
borders of a piece of toast, he reminded her, “But please make sure you’re properly dressed before you come out,
Ms. Sorelle.”
Angeline lowered her head and looked at her slippers. Her pale toes curled against the floor as embarrassment
crept into her expression. She ran back to the room, only coming back down after she had washed up.
The dining table had a wide spread of food that Francesca had prepared for breakfast.
Angeline pulled out a chair next to Evander and sat down. Taking a sip of milk, she tried to look for something to
talk about.
“Is Floretta getting used to kindergarten?”
Evander glanced at her before answering flatly, “Yes. She loves it there.”
Angeline thought about how she had not seen Floretta recently and said a little guiltily, “That’s good to hear. I’ve
been busy, so I haven’t been able to see her. But I do send her messages on WhatsApp every day. I’ve been busy
because I’m working on producing and releasing a great movie.” She rested her chin on her hand and shot him an
ingratiating smile. “As long as The Journey gets good ratings, you’ll be able to get a huge profit from your

“Eat your food!”
Evander glared at her, stopping her from rambling further.
The best ability she possessed was that as long as she had enough time, she could twist the truth entirely.
“Yes, Mr. Golding.” Angeline instantly obeyed and shut her mouth.
She picked up the mug on the table and took a sip of milk. A few droplets of milk stained the corners of her lips, and
she instinctively licked it up.
It was hard for Evander not to have his imagination run wild when he saw that suggestive movement. The memory
of last night’s events came back into his mind, and his body started burning again.
He downed the coffee in one go and lifted the newspaper to hide the heated look in his eyes.
Damn it! I must not interact with this woman for no reason anymore.
After finishing breakfast, Sylas drove Evander to the office. However, since it was on the way, he also sent Angeline
to the film set.
She got out of the car and was about to close the door when she hesitated and said, “Goodbye, Mr. Golding.”
Evander hummed deeply in response. He was still looking as frosty as ever, seemingly unwilling to talk to her more
than necessary.
Angeline had no intention of making a fool of herself. She turned around and was about to head toward the film set
when she heard his deep voice from behind her.
“Remember to take your medicine.”
She was stunned when she heard that.
Was that my imagination? I think I heard a hint of tenderness in his voice.
When she turned around, the car was already long gone. The corners of her lips curled into a small smile.
It looks like the great Mr. Golding isn’t as cold as the rumors make him out to be. It’s not like he doesn’t care about
anyone!
“Angie!”
Jacob was hanging from a wire with the help of the crew when he saw Angeline walk in. He immediately detached
himself from the wire and ran up to her.
“Are you okay? I suddenly lost you at the party last night, and it scared me to death. Are you still in one piece?”
He squeezed her shoulder as he looked her up and down in concern.
“I’m fine. I suddenly got tired last night and went home early.” Angeline backed away from him. “We’ll be doomed if
someone takes a picture of us.”
“Who would dare to do that? I’ll beat him to a pulp!”
Angeline couldn’t hold back her laughter when she heard that. “Aren’t you afraid you’ll be trending tomorrow?
You’re a famous actor, yet you’re cussing. Wouldn’t that ruin your image?”
“All right, then. I’m not mentally strong enough to tolerate the attacks from haters.”
Jacob rolled his eyes. He quickly followed behind her and said, “Angie, you must let me know if you ever find
yourself in such a situation again. You have no idea how long I have been looking for you…”
All of a sudden, they ran into Derek.
Angeline went pale. “Mr. McKenna, I’m sorry for being late today. I will make up for all the scenes later…” she said,
sounding extremely apologetic.
“It’s fine. I know.”
Unexpectedly, Derek didn’t blow up at her. A teasing glint flashed across his eyes as he looked at her and cleared
his throat. “The film is about to wrap up, so this is the busiest time for us. I hope you will exercise self-control and…
refrain from doing certain things.”
When Angeline heard that, her face turned beet red. Even a fool could understand what Derek meant by “certain
things.”

Derek waved a hand at her and gave her a look that indicated he knew everything. “That’s enough. Go and get
your makeup done. Don’t waste any more time.” He smirked and shook his head as he walked away.
Angeline put her hand to her forehead, completely speechless.
It’s all Evander’s fault! He always brings Floretta here to visit me, and he was the one who personally
recommended me for the role. It’s easy for anyone to misunderstand!
“Angie, what did Mr. McKenna mean by that?” Jacob asked, confusion in his eyes.
“It’s nothing. Children like you shouldn’t overthink things. Get back to your work.”
Angeline let out a heavy sigh. She patted his head and left.
In the makeup room, Angeline sent Nancy a text detailing what had happened at the party. She told Nancy about
her being drugged and asked for help in finding the mastermind.
There definitely is someone scheming against me. I will not let that person off so easily. I must find the true
mastermind!
Half a month later, Jacob had finished all his scenes. As soon as Derek shouted “cut” for the last time, the film crew
came over with a cake and a bouquet of flowers.
With Derek in the lead, everyone cheered for Jacob and celebrated the end of his work.
“Since it’s Jacob’s last day on set, why don’t we all go for dinner together as a way to relax?” Derek suggested.
“Yeah!” everyone cheered.
Jacob was the only one who had a conflicted expression on his face. “I’m sorry, but I have plans today, so I won’t be
able to join you guys for the celebration. Please have fun on my behalf. It’ll be my treat!” he said, a little
embarrassed.
Although everyone was a little disappointed to hear that, no one verbalized their complaints as they would be
getting a free meal.
After the celebration ended, everyone went on their own way.
Jacob approached Angeline and shot her an enthusiastic smile. “Angie, you still owe me a meal. Why don’t you treat
me to dinner tonight?”
