Angeline instinctively clicked on the news article, and a family photo right at the center immediately caught her
eye.
Joseline was holding a newborn baby boy, while Hanson put his hand over her shoulders as he looked at the
camera.
Standing behind them was the matriarch of the Yiurk family, Monica Yiurk, Hanson’s aunt and uncle, as well as his
older brother.
It was a very sweet family photo.
Angeline narrowed her eyes and snickered to herself. She couldn’t help but wonder if the Yiurk family would still be
as happy when they knew what Joseline had done.
Her phone rang while she was deep in her thoughts.
When she noticed that it was Jonathan, her expression turned grim. After Angeline picked up the call, she stole a
glance at Sylas before lowering her voice to ask, “What’s the matter?”
Jonathan’s sinister voice could be heard from the other end. “I can’t wait. I’ve already sent the photos of Joseline
secretly dating a male model to Hanson under your name.”
“Why didn’t you discuss it with me first before sending them?”
Angeline furrowed her brows, exasperated at Jonathan’s reckless actions.
“Don’t forget that we’re working together. You should be well aware that this is what you’re supposed to do after
I’ve helped you find the child,” Jonathan rebuked.
He didn’t sound pleased, as if someone owed him millions. Jonathan hung up right after saying that.
The disconnect tone frustrated Angeline to no end. What a ridiculous man! How can he change his stance that
quickly? Even if he wants revenge on Hanson, he shouldn’t throw me under the bus.
Given what Jonathan was capable of, he could well have used a pseudonym to send the photos. However, seeing as
he chose to put down Angeline’s name, it was obvious that he was trying to stoke an already burning fire between
her and Hanson.
“Ms. Sorelle, do you need my help?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSylas, who was in front of her, noticed her odd demeanor.
“I’m good.”
Angeline’s expression turned grim as she ordered, “We’re going back to Hallsbay tonight.”
Even though she couldn’t prove that Joseline was behind it all, Angeline had gotten her hands on the information
she needed.
Many years had passed by since the case. Hence, she knew that the court would never consider a retrial, even if
she were to verbally appeal for it.
In the meantime, she could only wait for Delroy to regain consciousness. Angeline reckoned that she might have a
chance at bringing Joseline to justice.
With the thought in mind, she massaged her temples with her slender fingers as she closed her eyes. There was a
hint of exhaustion on her face.
Most importantly, tomorrow would be the anniversary of her parent’s death.
She had prepared for today to be her last day in Hallsbay. If there was no further progress, she decided that she
would get back home tonight no matter what.
Her emotions were in turmoil at the thought. All of a sudden, she just wanted to listen to Evander’s voice.
Meanwhile, ever since the baby was born, Monica, who seldom got out of the house, went to the hospital every day
to visit her grandchild.
On the contrary, Hanson only went to the hospital twice. The first time was when the baby was born, and this was
his second time at the hospital.
He looked at Joseline, who was feeding the baby on the hospital bed. His voice was tender, and yet his tone was
impassive.
“The doctor said you need to take a good rest. Since you’re not willing to hire extra help to take care of the baby,
do let the butler know if you need anything. He’ll make sure your needs are taken care of,” Hanson said.
“I’m not a three-year-old child. I can take care of this,” Joseline replied.
She looked at Hanson with a gentle, loving expression. Then, she reached out to tug at the hem of his shirt.
“Hanson, you’ve never held the baby once after he was born. You’re his dad. Why don’t you try feeding him?”
Joseline suggested.
Hanson frowned in response. However, his gaze softened when he looked at the baby, who was happily having milk.
Before he said yes, Joseline had already passed him the baby.
Hanson was left with no other choice but to reach out and take the baby. The little boy felt soft in his embrace. It
was as if he could break the baby if he so much as squeezed him.
His thoughts traveled down memory lane as he carefully studied the baby’s features.
Hanson suddenly recalled memories from his university days, the times when he would fetch Angeline on his bike as
they headed home together. The gentle breeze would carry the scent of the fresh grass, and Angeline would put
her hands around his waist, her eyes filled with hope and anticipation.
“Hanson, let’s have a baby together after I graduate, okay?” Angeline asked sweetly.
“Just one? We’re going to make babies every day after we graduate,” Hanson teased.
Angeline’s face turned beet red as she hit him on his shoulders gently. “You’re such a pervert! Forget it!”
For reasons unbeknownst to himself, Hanson found himself quite fond of reminiscing the past nowadays.
Times were different now. He had not fulfilled his promise back then. As for Angeline, Hanson couldn’t help but
wonder about the things that she had been through all these years, which caused her to turn into a cold and
heartless woman. However, he did find her to be much more attractive than when they were still students.
“Hanson, what are you thinking about?”
Joseline’s question pulled him back into the present.
“Nothing.” His expression turned grim as he changed the subject, “The baby looks so much like you.”
“Of course. He’s our baby. He has your nose,” Joseline said.
She beamed happily. Then, she repositioned herself and passed the milk bottle to Hanson.
He did not take over the bottle. Instead, he glanced at the baby. Hanson didn’t think that the child resembled him in
any way, and he couldn’t find it in himself to adore the baby either.
“I still have pending matters at the office. Get a good rest. I have to go back now,” Hanson said in a rather clipped
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmtone. He passed the baby back to her and turned around to leave the ward.
Joseline did not pester him to stay. Though feeling indignant, she merely watched him leave as she clutched on
tightly to her bedsheets.
She knew that Hanson had never looked forward to the baby being born. However, it didn’t matter anymore, as she
was already Mrs. Yiurk.
Nobody could take that away from her.
Meanwhile, after Hanson got back to his office, he dived into work right away after removing his coat.
Knock! Knock!
Someone knocked on his door right then, and his assistant entered his office.
“Mr. Yiurk, there is a document pending your approval.”
“Hand it over,” Hanson said.
The assistant approached him respectfully and placed the file in front of Hanson for him to review.
Hanson opened the file, only to discover that it actually contained a few photos. After taking a look at them, his
expression darkened.
In the photo, Joseline opened the door of the mansion and was intertwined in a passionate kiss with a young man.
There were several other photos that showed much more intimate interactions between the two as well.
Bang!
Outraged, Hanson slammed the photos on his desk and swept everything to the floor, smashing the mug that was
on his desk.
He couldn’t believe that Joseline would do something so shameless behind his back. He was simply repulsed at the
thought of her pretending to care about him, acting all innocent while doing so.
If that was the case, there was a high possibility that the child that Joseline just had might not be his at all.
There was another note inside the file that slipped out. Hanson ordered his assistant to pick it up.
“Yes, sir.”
Hanson’s heart skipped a beat when he recognized the handwriting on the note. It belonged to Angeline.
The note read: Mr. Yiurk, congratulations on your newborn son. Are you happy with my gift?
Am I happy with the gift?
Hanson’s eyes darkened as he crumpled the note in his fist and slammed it on his desk angrily.
