By the time both of them arrived, all the other members of the cast were already waiting for the director to come
on stage.
Through the curtains on the stage, Angeline could see the venue being filled to the brim. Many fans were holding
placards in support while screaming their names fervently.
The atmosphere inside was simply electrifying.
Cowed by the crowd’s reaction, Angeline became a bundle of nerves as she took a deep breath while leaning
against the wall.
At that moment, Derek came over to remind her, “Angeline, remember to stay calm and try to have more
interaction with Jacob. After all, you’re the couple in the movie, and everyone loves to watch the two of you
together.”
“I got it, Mr. McKenna. Thank you.”
Nevertheless, Derek was still concerned and requested a member of the crew to bring him a bottle of water.
He then passed it to Angeline. “Drink more water. It’ll help you calm your nerves.”
Coincidentally, Angeline was thirsty from talking the whole evening. After taking the bottle in her hand, she began
to gulp the water down.
The moment she tasted the water, she detected a faint saltiness but didn’t think much of it. The next moment, she
was greeted by the sight of Jacob walking over after getting changed. He was wearing a suit that had a similar hue
to her gown and had his hair combed back perfectly.
Standing side by side, both of them looked as if they were wearing matching outfits.
Breaking into a helpless smile, Angeline could only turn a blind eye to such coincidences. After all, it was all in the
name of increasing publicity for their movie.
Ten minutes later, the curtains were drawn back to herald the start of the press conference.
The host kicked off the event by interacting with the audience before announcing in an excited voice, “All right now.
I’m sure all of you can’t bear to wait any longer. Without further ado, let us now welcome the directors and cast of

No sooner had he spoken than Derek led the cast onto the stage one by one. Strutting around in four-inch heels,
Angeline made an effort to walk carefully after tripping herself a couple of times.
Once she managed to get herself on stage, a gentle smile emerged across her face as she waved to the audience.
However, the moment her eyes fell upon the first row—reserved for the investor of the film—her gaze and smile
froze immediately.
The seated man was dressed in a sharp black suit. He exuded an imposing aura on top of his mesmerizing features
and the profound look in his eyes.
Evander! I’m surprised to see him attend the event as it isn’t befitting of his station.
Just as she was dumbfounded, the person behind her couldn’t stop in time and bumped into her. Losing her
balance, Angeline began to stumble forward.
“Angie, watch out!”
Right before she crashed to the ground, Jacob grabbed her.
What started out as a simple catch looked like a romantic rescue from the perspective of the audience as Angeline
leaned slightly against Jacob’s body.
A moment later, an uproar erupted from the audience. All of them were screaming and waving their placards in
support.
“Ah! Go on and be together! We’ll be your loyal fans for eternity!”
“Jacob! My heart is broken, but I still wish you all the best!”
“Be together! Be together!”
Listening to the crowd’s wild cheers, Angeline paled. When she snuck a glance at Evander, she could see the drastic
change in his expression. The icy glint in his eye didn’t escape her notice. He looked as though he was going to
swallow her right then.
Angeline gulped in fear as a sudden sense of dread crept into her. After a frantic struggle to free her hand, she
uttered a distant “thank you.”
Apprehensive of the look on Evander’s face, she steeled herself and continued walking up the stage, maintaining an
obvious distance from Jacob.
Attributing it to her anxiety, she felt a tingling yet itchy sensation in her spine as if there were countless insects
crawling up her back.
Nonetheless, under the watchful eyes of the audience and cameras, she didn’t dare scratch the itch, for it would be
inelegant to do so.
All she could do was brace herself to endure the discomfort.
Even though she pretended as if nothing happened, her presence of mind had long drifted away. Not only did she
sound distracted when answering the media’s questions, but she also failed to create the chemistry with Jacob that
Derek wanted.
Noticing that she was looking out of sorts, Jacob leaned in and inquired softly, “Angie, are you all right? What’s with
that uncomfortable look on your face?”
“I’m fine. I just didn’t sleep well last night.”
However, she had barely finished when her itch spread from her back. At that moment, even her arms and thighs
had begun to itch like crazy.
Unlike an ordinary itch, the sensation she felt was similar to countless ants entering her body and chewing upon her
bones.
The feeling was so terrible that she felt the urge to roll on the ground.
Soon, Angeline quickly noticed that rashes were appearing on the hand that was holding the microphone.
Her expression turned sullen when she realized that there was something wrong with her body.
Fortunately, members of the production crew picked up on the strange atmosphere and quickly ended the event.
Thereafter, the cast began to take turns leaving the stage.
By the time she arrived backstage, Angeline could barely walk properly. She settled down on a chair and began to

Derek, who was about to lose his temper at Angeline, was shocked by the sight of her face.
“Angeline, what happened to you?”
Angeline gave him a helpless look. She was so overwhelmed by discomfort that she was on the brink of tears.
Everyone else, upon hearing Derek’s question, turned their attention to her and was so shocked by the rashes on
her face that they stepped back.
“Oh my goodness, that’s so scary!”
“What happened? Wasn’t she doing fine just now? Is it contagious?”
“Jacob, don’t go near her.”
Despite the widespread panic, the fearless Jacob approached her with a concerned look on his face.
“Angie, what happened to your face? Did you eat something bad?”
“I’m just as clueless as you are,” Angeline responded weakly as desperation swelled within her.
Itching all over, she could barely focus, as all she could think of was scratching her body.
“Don’t scratch it, Angeline. Now that we still don’t know what it is, you might risk disfiguring yourself.”
When Nancy walked over upon hearing the commotion, she, too, was taken aback by the sight.
Despite that, she still had her wits about her. After swiftly taking off her jacket, she covered Angeline’s face with it
while helping her up from the chair.
“Don’t panic. Bear with it while I take you to the hospital.”
Angeline left with Nancy, enduring the urge to scratch despite the overpowering itch. Even though she didn’t say a
word, her anxiety was obvious from how she was gripping Nancy’s hand.
Why did something like this happen so close to the Forrester Group’s live stream?
Even though acting skills were important for an actress, her looks were equally crucial. If she somehow ended up
being disfigured, her career in the entertainment industry would naturally come to an end.
Amid the chaos, Jacob somehow found his way into Angeline’s car and traveled with them to the hospital.
Upon their arrival half an hour later, Angeline was immediately examined by a skin specialist, as Nancy had called
ahead of time.
However, the grim look on the doctor’s face exuded nothing but pessimism.
