Francesca looked at Angeline apologetically. Embarrassed, she said, “I’m so sorry. Ms. Floretta is still young and
speaks whatever that’s on her mind. I hope you pay no mind to it.”
“No worries,” Angeline replied with a sarcastic smile. She then waved at Floretta. “Come over here. Let me get a
good look at you.”
Grinning, Floretta made her way to Angeline. Her tiny frame was glued to Angeline’s chest, happiness apparent on
her face. “I guess you’re still unaware, but Daddy had admitted that Angel is my mommy. I’m not wrong.”
Francesca was shocked. “Really?”
Angeline, on the other hand, did not respond. Instead, she reached out to stroke Floretta’s hair while attentively
examining the young girl’s features. Still, a sense of disbelief was deeply rooted within her.
She had never considered the possibility that the child she had been looking for five years had been there all along.
But didn’t Joseline tell me that the child was kidnapped and sold to someone else?
But then again, Joseline is a habitual liar. She could make up any story to get me to sell my shares in the company.
Angeline, who had finally calmed down, was once again filled with sadness at the thought. At that, her tears trickled
down her face without control.
Despite Angeline’s attempt to hide her tears, they still did not go unnoticed by Floretta’s sharp eyes. Feeling
panicked, the little girl asked, “What’s wrong, Angel? Do you feel sick?”
“I’m fine,” Angeline replied as she hurriedly wiped her tears and tried to remain neutral. “I’m not crying.”
Floretta pursed her lips and swung her tiny clenched fists before yelling furiously, “You don’t have to hide things
from me, Angel. Daddy has always been difficult to get along with. Tell me if he bullied you, and I’ll talk to him.”
Floretta’s remarks sounded as though the little girl was merely throwing a tantrum, but they still managed to move
Angeline. However, Angeline still felt as if a giant stone was pressing on her heart, and she was on the verge of
going insane from how suffocated she felt.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtShe struggled to believe that such a dramatic occurrence had actually happened to her.
Floretta clung to Angeline and insisted they sleep together. Angeline did not object as she picked up the little girl
and walked straight to her bedroom.
Angeline told Floretta a story while patting her shoulder repeatedly in an attempt to lull her to sleep. Finally, she
was able to put Floretta to sleep after singing a song. Angeline, on the other hand, remained wide awake.
For some reason, Angeline felt suffocated. She walked up to the balcony and opened the window. It was only when
the cold breeze hit her face that she felt better.
The lights from the study next to her room were still on. Angeline could see the silhouette of the man who was bent
over his desk, working mercilessly. That serious look on his face sure is mesmerizing.
Angeline felt a lump in her throat and was immensely pained by the thought.
Since there was still no concrete evidence, she should not put the blame on Evander just because of a necklace.
Additionally, given how much Evander values Floretta, it was best for Angeline to keep silent rather than alarm him
and put herself at risk.
However, if Evander were really the one who caused Angeline to become pregnant and then stole her child away in
secret, Angeline would never be able to forgive him.
She might even bring the case to court.
He shouldn’t blame me for taking such extreme measures. If it weren’t for this issue, I would’ve been living a happy
and fulfilling life. Yet, everything was ruined.
Still, Angeline was rather relieved that there was a possibility that the person from her past could have been
Evander, as that notion helped elevate her disgust of being violated.
What should I do? How should I face everything?
Angeline did not manage to sleep a wink that night.
“According to the news, your Grandpa is being sent to the hospital now, Angeline. It seems like he’s not going to
make it,” Nancy said.
After tossing and turning throughout the night, Angeline finally felt a slight tinge of sleepiness during the morning.
Yet, Nancy’s sudden call disrupted all of her plans.
After the call, Angeline immediately packed her stuff and got ready to go to the hospital.
It was true that Wilfred had kicked her out of the family, but ever since the last meeting with him, their relationship
had seemed to be better.
On top of that, there were not many people left in the Sorelle family to begin with. If Angeline were to leave Wilfred
to the scheming Joseline, a notice of critical condition might have already been signed.
To ensure that Wilfred would be able to live longer, Angeline had no choice but to go to the hospital.
Still, leaving like this without giving Evander a notice…
Evander felt thirsty when he woke up. He grabbed the cup from his bedside table and made a beeline toward the
living room.
Right then, he noticed Angeline rushing out of the Golding residence.
What’s the matter? Why does she look like she’s in a hurry?
Evander’s brows were pinched in a deep frown. He was about to call out for Angeline but stopped when he saw the
jade necklace that was left on the coffee table.
He was the one who helped Angeline wear the necklace yesterday. He was not expecting her to remove it right in
the morning.
There was a piece of paper underneath the necklace. Evander took a few more steps toward the table and pulled
the paper out.
His expression took a sharp change upon seeing the content on the paper.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmI’m sorry. I might need to reevaluate our relationship.
The simple words reflected Angeline’s resoluteness. She did not use any tricks and simply pushed him away as if he
was a random stranger.
A flash of irritation surged within Evander. His expression darkened as he tore the paper into shreds.
What is Angeline trying to do?
Evander hardly asked any questions when Angeline abruptly left their bedroom yesterday. Yet, she was already
declaring her intention to break up the following morning!
The person who specially made a trip down to Gronga to confirm their relationship was Angeline; the person who
said she wanted to be with him was also her, and now, she was even the person who suggested their breakup!
Have I been too amicable lately? Is that why Angeline thought that she could play with me? Great. Since she has
the guts to do this, she better be prepared. I’m not letting you off the hook, Angeline!
There was already a swarm of reporters when Angeline reached the hospital. They were kept out by the
bodyguards, who stood their ground.
With that, Angeline could only drive her car to the back of the hospital and sneaked in from there.
Angeline saw Joseline and Hanson the moment she arrived at the emergency ward. Joseline was sobbing
uncontrollably and was wobbling on her feet as she cried out, “What am I supposed to do if you die, Grandpa? Mom
and Dad aren’t here anymore, and you’re my only family left.”
Joseline’s every word was cried out with sincerity. Yet, Angeline could not help but sneer upon seeing that.
Truth be told, Angeline was impressed by Joseline’s acting skills. If it were not for the fact that she already knew
about what Joseline had done to Wilfred, she would have believed in the latter’s cries.
“You’re here,” Hanson uttered, a shocked expression on his face. He was the first to spot Angeline. “I thought you
won’t come to see Grandpa.”
“How is he?” Angeline inquired hastily. Despite the chaos within her, she managed to keep her cool on the outside.
Hanson’s face fell as he let out a long sigh. “He’s not doing well.”
