Chapter 233
For Evander to have made such meticulous arrangements in around ten minutes, one couldn't help but be
impressed.
Even though she was wanned by his words, Angeline shook her head and replied firmly, “It's all right. I'm not tired.
Besides. I won't be able to rest until I know Floretta is safe.”
“Okay.”
Evander didn't insist as he sat down beside her. Placing liis hand on her head, he gently guided it to lay on his
shoulders.
“Rest.”
Evander's deep and magnetic voice sounded inexplicably reassuring. “Lean on me and rest.”
Acquiescing to his wishes, Angeline stopped moving and wrapped her arms around liis waist.
Evander initially wanted to ask her about her blood type but decided against it when he saw how pale she looked.
I can't deny the inexplicable attraction both of them have for each other. No wonder Floretta constantly wishes for
Angeline to be her mom.
At that moment, Sylas had quietly slipped away while the two teachers had also left unnoticed. Physically drained.
Angeline was in no mood to bother asking about them either.
Creak!
An hour later, the doors to the emergency room gradually opened and out walked the doctor.
As the duo frantically got to their feet, Angeline rushed up to the doctor, with Evander following closely behind. He
proceeded to ask coldly, “Doctor, how is she?”
“Mi\ Golding, as we managed to save Ms. Floretta in time, her life is no longer in danger. That said, you'll have to
continue to watch over her carefully. Even an ordinary child couldn't bear to be injured this often,” the doctor
reminded with a grim look in his eyes.

Evander was brief in his response. No one could tell from his calm reply whether he was delighted or angry.
As for Angeline, she heaved a sigh of relief as the tension in her heart gradually dissipated.
Ever since Floretta was moved to her ward, Angeline began to notice something amiss with Evander—he didn't say
a word throughout the entire process. All he did was stay quietly by the bedside as he tucked liis daughter in.
However, the more Evander behaved that way, the more fearful Angeline became. She was cognizant that Evander
was not one to wear liis heart on his sleeve. Given that liis precious daughter was hurt by someone, there was no
way he would sit idly by and do nothing.
Thus, she was worried that he would end up overreacting in his revenge.
Upon exiting the ward, the concerned Angeline grabbed Evander by the aim and reminded him, “I know you feel
terrible about what happened to Floretta, but everything happened too suddenly. That's why I feel there's a need to
properly investigate the matter before taking any action.”
Her words intensified the intimidating aura Evander was exuding, leading him to respond in an icy tone with a slight
frown on liis face.
“The wicked will definitely pay for what they have done, especially after they have harmed Floretta. I'll definitely
leave no stone unturned.”
“Fine.” Angeline knitted her brows tightly. “In that case, what do you plan to do?”
“I'll deal with it myself. There's no need for you to be concerned.”
Evander sidestepped her question as a vicious glint flashed across liis eyes. “Francesca is on her way here. Let me
know the moment Floretta wakes up.”
There was no further conunent from Angeline after that. Staring at Evander's leaving silhouette, she failed to shake
the niggling sense of dread within her.
She knew that this wasn't the first time Floretta was bullied in school. Evander just chose not to kick up a fuss as
nothing major had happened previously.
In contrast to the past, he wasn't going to let this incident slide now that Floretta had been physically hurt.
The thought elicited a heavy sigh from Angeline. Nevertheless, she decided not to stick her nose into it, for all she
cared about was Floretta regaining her consciousness.
It wasn't until it was late at night that Angeline finally left the hospital and drove home.
With Francesca watching over Floretta. there was nothing much for Angeline to worry about. Moreover, she still had
Sebastian to take care of.
Meanwhile, a dim yellow light was left on inside the living room. All kinds of toys were strewn across the floor while
Nancy had fallen asleep on the couch.
Nonetheless, the sound of Angeline changing out of her shoes at the doonvay jolted Nancy awake. The latter
subsequently nibbed her sleepy eyes before turning to look in Angeline's direction.
“You're back! How is Floretta?”
Angeline walked up to the couch and allowed her exhausted body to slump into the cushion as she let out a deep
sigh.
“She's stable for now.”
“That's good.”
Nancy poured Angeline a glass of water and handed it over. “That said, it's a shame Floretta has to suffer so much
at such a young age.”
The words triggered a guilty expression to cross Angeline's face.
She had begun to regret her decision to send Floretta to kindergarten.
All she wanted back then was to help the latter open up emotionally. It was beyond her wildest imagination that
such a terrible accident would happen.
I suppose Evander must be blaming me for it too. He probably didn't show it only because I donated blood to

“Anyway, now that Floretta's life is no longer in danger and Sebastian has been tucked into bed. I can finally leave in
peace.”
After giving her sore neck a rub, Nancy slowly got up from the couch.
“It's already late. Why don't you stay the night?”
“Not tonight. I don't want to keep babysitting your child for you. I still have a meeting with a producer tomorrow.”
Waving her hands frantically, Nancy grabbed her bag as a fearful look emerged on her face. “To be honest,
babysitting is just too scaiy for me.”
“Sony to have troubled you,” Angeline apologized as she walked Nancy to the door.
While putting her heels back on, Nancy threw Angeline a glance before retrieving a box of facial masks from her
bag.
“Here, this is the latest facial mask on the market. It is so expensive that I couldn't bring myself to use it. You should
put one on before you sleep. Don't forget that you're still a popular celebrity. At the rate you're going, you're
allowing yourself to turn into an ugly housewife.”
“Thank you.” Angeline took the box from Nancy's hand gratefully.
However, Nancy's words triggered a somber feeling within her.
She's right. Ever since I found Sebastian, I've been so overwhelmed by my troubles that I had no time to take care
of my complexion. In fact, I have even forgotten that I'm an actress!
After washing up, she went to Sebastian's room to check on him. The sight of him in deep slumber reminded her of
Floretta.
If her mother learns of what happened to her, she would definitely be devastated.
Angeline patted Mark gently and planted a kiss on liis head before returning to her room.
Prior to turning in for the night, she put on the mask Nancy had given her before lying down on her bed. It was then
that she felt the urge to give Evander a call.
When no one answered despite the phone ringing for a long time. Angeline couldn't help but feel concerned.
Evander has never failed to pick up. Something must have happened to him!
