Chapter 128
In just a few short hours, the Abernathy Group’s bad news was spreading like wildfire on the internet,
shooting straight to the top of the trending list.
The video of Elspeth being escorted off the golf course also made its way online, spreading like a crazy
virus.
In theory, a big fat cat like the Abernathy Group could totally put the squeeze on the media and block
the news.
But, Evadne went with a “shoot first, ask questions later” strategy. By the time the Abernathy Group
reacted, it was too late.
Even if they tried to put the squeeze on, it would be like trying to squeeze blood from a stone.
The TV station where World Wonders Weekly was aired was backed by the big cheese, the K Group. If
Evadne was in a good mood, they could totally run the news of Elspeth being escorted off all day long.
And then there were a bunch of creative netizens who turned Elspeth and Glynnis’s embarra**ing
moments into a whole set of memes for everyone to download and share.
In order to quell the public opinion, Frederic was busy trying to bail out Elspeth from the prosecutor’s
office. He was running around like a headless chicken.
Meanwhile, Evadne, having won the first battle, happily returned to the K World Hotel.
She enjoyed a luxurious afternoon tea and sat in her office playing games while video chatting with Cas
sius, giving him the lowdown on the day’s battles.
“I’ve reserved a private room at our hotel’s restaurant, so we can meet with Mr. Bartley the day after
tomorrow. Hopefully, we can completely secure the Westguard deal within the week!”
Evadne was in high spirits, getting a kick out of chopping down players in her game.
“Elspeth is currently being grilled by Arnold. Although Arnold seems cheerful, he’s all business when it
comes to work. If he doesn’t get any valuable leads from Elspeth, he won’t let her off the h ook.”
In the video, Cas sius was sitting in his CEO’s office, all business. Despite his smile, there was an air of
authority about him.
“In the end, it won’t make much difference. Elspeth will still be let go.” Evadne said confidently.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Do you want her to get out?” Cas sius asked suggestively.
“What can I do if I don’t? We may not be able to pin anything on her.”
Evadne squinted her sly eyes, wielding a bl oody chainsaw and chopping down a player. “Elspeth’s
gotten where she is now not just because of Frederic’s favoritism, but also her own smarts and deep
scheming. She and her cousin Earl collude in shady dealings, and Earl is her scapegoat. She stays in
the shadows, reaping the rewards without getting her hands dirty, her plans seamless.”
Cas sius nodded, deep in thought. “You’re right. It’s just a pity.”
“There’s no pity.” Evadne smiled. “As long as we the K Group can profit, that’s all that matters. Besides,
I never intended to take down Elspeth in one go. What I want is not just to strip her of her position as
vice-chair of the board of directors, but also to make her lose Frederic’s trust. I want Frederic to feel
that the Abernathy group lost this project and suffered a huge loss because of Elspeth.”
This would be a big issue between the couple.
Even if they couldn’t beat their opponent in one go, it was good to hit their morale.
Elspeth might feel like she’s in jail in the future days of the Abernathy family’s life.
“Evadne, do you know what I want to do the most right now?” Cas sius leaned forward with a smile.
“Hmm? What?”
“I want to retire right away and give my position to you.” Cas sius sighed, “Really, there’s no one more
suitable to be the CEO of the K Group than you.”
When it came to this, Evadne got a bit down.
The long list of blind dates was like a mountain pressing on her head. She felt that even if she died,
Emeric would bring the list of blind dates to her grave.
At this time, her sister Nydia called.
Evadne picked up the phone and laughed, “Cas sius, I’ll talk to you later. Nydia is calling me.”
“Okay, I heard Nydia is back in Elmsworth. You should spend more time with her and take care of her.”
Cas sius instructed gently.
“I will, she’s my only sister. If I don’t spoil her, who will?”
Actually, Evadne always felt a bit guilty towards Nydia. In theory, as the youngest, Nydia should be
more taken care of and loved at home.
However, the reality was that Evadne, like a powerful magnet, had been Emeric’s favorite since the day
she was born, and she was the most beloved child at home, the real darling.
She unintentionally took away a lot of love that should have belonged to Nydia, Although it was
unintentional, she still felt sorry for her.
So as a sister, she always hoped to give Nydia as much care as possible.
But Nydia always told her good news and hid the bad ones. She wanted to help her, but didn’t know
where to start.
“Nydia, are you back in Elmsworth?” Evadne asked with a smile.
“Yes, I’m at school.” Nydia paused for a moment, then timidly asked, “Evadne, are you busy today? Do
you have plans tonight?”
“Do you want to hang out?” Evadne guessed her thoughts straight away.
“Yes!” Nydia nodded vigorously, “Ever since you came back home, we haven’t had a good get-together.
If you’re free tonight, can I treat you to dinner?”
“Just dinner? Not going for drinks?” Evadne raised an eyebrow.
“Alright, let’s go for a karaoke session then. It’s been ages since we sang, I have no clue how you
sound now.” Nydia said, her tone teasing.
“I’m a born singer, and no one can beat me when I’m belting out a tune.”
Evadne cleared her throat, “Listen up, I’m going to sing a few lines for you!”
Just then, the Abernathy Group’s high-level meeting had just ended, and Frederic issued three
important directives.

Chapter 128
First, to quickly mitigate the negative impact the Frost siblings had on the group, manage public
opinion, restore the Abernathy Group’s image, and prevent a drastic drop in Abernathy Group’s stock
price.
Second, to revoke Earl’s positions in the group, and to thoroughly check all personnel related to him!
Third, to temporarily withhold the decision to appoint Elspeth as the Deputy Chairman of the Board of
Directors until the case was thoroughly investigated.
At the end of the meeting, all the senior managers left the conference room feeling very depressed.

“Thaddeus, wait a moment. I need to talk to you.” Frederic sternly stopped him.
Thaddeus was already at the door. He stopped immediately, turned around with a blank face, and sat
down.
They sat at opposite ends of the conference table, and the atmosphere around them became tense.
“How do you plan to handle today’s matter as the president?” Frederic coughed lightly and asked
coldly.
“Business as usual.” Thaddeus lowered his eyelids, showing no emotion, and said coldly. “Elspeth is
currently being interrogated at the prosecutor’s office. All she can do now
is to confess everything she knows and cooperate fully with the investigation. There’s no other way
around it.”
“I’ll find a way to sort out Elspeth’s matter!” Frederic felt suffocated, a lump stuck in his throat, making
his voice h oa rse.
“Do you think you can?” Thaddeus’ face was cold, his deep eyes inscrutable, “I’ve heard that the
prosecutor taking over Earl’s case is Arnold.”
“Arnold?”
Frederic gasped, his pupils suddenly contracted!
“From the beginning, Evadne planned every step of the way. At this point, I think you, as chairman,
should broaden your perspective. You should be thinking about how to deal with a stock market crash
when the market opens tomorrow morning.” Thaddeus said. He didn’t want to discuss Elspeth’s matter
any further. He moved his body slightly, clearly wanting to end the conversation.
“Hold on!” Frederic leaned forward abruptly, his eyes sharp, “I remember, you’ve had contact with Dr.
Frade from Aetheria before. If we could hire Dr. Frade as a technical advisor for the Abernathy Group’s
biotech and get his patent support, it would be a huge positive and definitely save the market! Contact
him immediately and try to get him to come to our country for a detailed discussion on cooperation this
week!”
Thaddeus raised an eyebrow and said lightly, “Alright.”
Frederic breathed a sigh of relief, his son was still useful.
“But I have one condition.”
“What condition?”
“I want to be the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abernathy Group.” Thaddeus
squinted with a slight smile on his face.
