Chapter 143
Emeric lined up a day’s worth of blind dates for Evadne.
As Evadne was getting dolled up in the bathroom, Jason was outside, reading out the day’s itinerary
from his iPad.
“11:30 am, lunch with Mr. Zack from the H Group:
1:30 pm, afternoon tea with the oldest son of President Wilson;
3:30 pm, a musical with the second son of President Liam from the Z Group.”
It was like some sort of marketplace, with a new date every two hours.
After a while, the bathroom door swung open.
Evadne, all dolled up, appeared before Jason, who burst out laughing as he said,
“Ms. Evadne, you’ve really outdone yourself with this getup!”
Evadne was sporting a bizarre wig, her face was covered in spots, she had a fake mustache under her
nose, and she was pinching her nose with her right hand while leaning against the door frame with her
left. She looked like she was trying to impersonate a movie character but there was a hidden motive
behind her dress up.
“This is over the top to you? I was considering adding a couple of fake scars to my face.”
Evadne gave a wide grin, revealing black teeth, and waved at Jason, “Come on, join in the fun!”
Even the usually serious Jason couldn’t help but double over with laughter.
Ms. Evadne was as entertaining as ever.
Not satisfied, Evadne took a selfie and posted it in her group chat with her brothers.
The group chat exploded instantly.
Ca**ius curiously asked, [Who’s that?]
Evadne replied teasingly, (Make a guess.[
Elvis replied, [LOL, you’re a riot!]
Arnold replied, [Oh my God! You’re terrifying like that! You didn’t have to choose that character to
impersonate.]
Then, the group started teasing each other.
Evadne asked, [What do you think are my chances of landing a successful blind date looking like this?]
Arnold answered, [Zero!]
Ca**ius said, (Anyone who gets to know you would be charmed by you. There are plenty of good–

someone’s bound to fall for you.]
Elvis replied, [I’d still like you even if you were ugly. You got those killer legs!]
Finally, Elvis joked around with Arnold, [As a prosecutor, aren’t you supposed not to judge a book by its
cover?]
Arnold replied, [Shut up!)
Evadne was scrolling through the chat, laughing heartily.
Evadne then texted: [Wish me luck, I’m off to meet my first blind date.]
Ca**ius replied: [God bless you and specially your date.]
Arnold replied: [Evadne, if a rich guy takes a liking to you, you should seriously consider it. His love for
you could be genuine.]
Arnold replied: [He might be like us, seeing not just the exterior, but the beauty within.]
Evadne replied with a chuckle, (If someone does take a liking to me today, I’ll give them a free medical
treatment to Ashbourne Hospital to check if they have eye problems.]
At that same time, Jason’s phone started to vibrate.
While Evadne wasn’t paying attention, he took it out and saw that her four brothers had all messaged
him almost simultaneously.
Their messages were pretty much the same.
The four brothers addressed their concern. (Keep an eye on Evadne and let us know if anything
happens.]
Jason a**ured them saying. [Rest a**ured, I’ll make sure Ms. Evadne is safe and out of harm’s way.]
The four brothers then casually said. (We’re not worried about her, we’re more concerned about the
guy she’s dating!]
Jason rolled his eyes in exasperation.
And so, the blind dating game officially began.
Evadne was a very efficient person. If she was going on blind dates, she’d meet all the men in one day
and make a swift decision.
What she didn’t expect was that, despite her cold demeanor, those noblemen and rich heirs didn’t back
down. They remained calm and carried on the conversation with ease.
Was her charming personality too powerful to be concealed by her disguise, or were these men too
desperate to establish a connection with the Ashbourne family? Even she felt repulsed by herself, how
did they manage to keep such a cool attitude?
Power was indeed a great thing, compelling people to degrade themselves.
But thankfully, she had a backup plan.
The first guy; she scared him off during lunch by claiming that his kidney function was equivalent to that
of a 70–year–old and that might affect his fertility.
The second guy; she kept staring behind him until he was crept out.
“Ms. Evadne, what are you looking at?”
“Mr. Neil, there’s a child standing behind you, staring at you. Are you sure you don’t want to invite him
over for lunch?”
Evadne’s tone gradually became ominous, “He looks so pitiful.”
The guy was so spooked by her words that he left immediately.
The third guy, since they were watching a musical together, they didn’t have much interaction, so it was
a pretty calm date.
When it ended, Mr. Lance politely asked her to dinner, “Ms. Evadne, I had a great time with you today.
May I have the pleasure of your company for dinner?”
“Sure, I’d love to.”
With that, Evadne gave a little smile, picked up her bag, and prepared to leave.
Mr. Lance hadn’t noticed her bag before, but now he saw it clearly.
He clearly saw the big letters on it. ‘Psychiatric Center of Skyrim‘.
“Mr. Lance, why did you stop?” Evadne asked innocently, blinking her big eyes.
Mr. Lance’s face turned pale, and he immediately backed away from her saying, “Oh, I suddenly
remembered that I had a meeting. Let’s meet another day!”
At last, Evadne and Jason had arrived at their last date location for the day.
It was an elegant coffee house, peaceful and quiet, filled with the rich aroma of coffee that brought
about a sense of calm.
This coffee joint reminded her of Silverlake Harbor. The dude she was meeting had unintentionally
picked a spot she liked.
She thought, maybe she should cut him some slack.
Evadne spent her day messing around with those rich kids, and Jason was scared just by watching.
“Miss, you’ve certainly scared them off,” he said, worriedly, “But what if they start bad–mouthing you
behind your back? I’m worried it might tarnish your reputation in Elmsworth,” Jason addressed his

“Let them talk,” Evadne said coolly, picking up her eyeliner to draw another freckle on her face as she
continued to say, “I want everyone to think the Ashbourne family’s daughter is a nutcase. That way,
Emeric will finally stop trying to set me up with guys,” She added, leaving Jason unsure whether to
laugh or cry.
“Jason, to be honest, it wouldn’t be so bad if someone who truly loved me showed up now,” Evadne
sighed, packing up her makeup, “I just want someone to genuinely love me, so I don’t have to go on
these dreadful blind dates anymore.”
Jason was deeply moved by her words. He looked at her with warmth in his eyes.
Her wish was something that he had also wished.
His whole heart was with her.
“Emeric is a sly one. I dodged a bullet this time, but who knows what he’ll try next time,” she mused.
“The chairman still adores you. He always says that among all of his children, you’re the one most like
him,” Jason said with a smile.
“Ah, are you saying Emeric is insulting me?” Evadne shot back.
Jason couldn’t help but laugh. Just then, his phone buzzed.
“Miss, the last guy for today is here,” He said, checking the message.
“I know.”
Jason left the room to give them some privacy.
While waiting, Evadne grew bored. She rested her cheek in her hand, gazing out at the beautiful view.
She closed her eyes and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of that shop.
Then she heard the door slowly open.
A pair of steady footsteps approached. As he came closer, she caught a faint scent. It was like a gentle
midnight breeze wafting through the window, stirring her heart.
It was the rare scent of violets on a man, mixed with a subtle floral aroma.
Even though Evadne was allergic to smoke, she was very sensitive to fragrances.
She slowly opened her eyes and looked up, her gaze finally resting on the man’s face.
The next moment, Evadne’s lips parted slightly, but before she could say anything, she heard a voice,
saying.
“I’m sorry for making you wait, Miss Evadne.”
