Chapter 664
“I’ve already looked into the video of Emeric that was leaked online.” Elvis’s voice came through, icy
and filled with a deadly intent. Thaddeus arched an eyebrow, his lips pursed in reluctance.
He had intended to handle the situation quietly, away from Evadne’s prying eyes, smoothing things
over for Chairman Emeric. Yet, here was Elvis, his old college rival, beating him to it once again.
Back in their school days, they’d been at loggerheads, competing for top honors and engaging in daily
intellectual duels that rivaled the clashes of the greatest Greek gods. Now, he was still competing,
denying him a chance to shine.
If it weren’t for the fact that they were both men, it could have been mistaken for a love–hate
relationship straight out of an old
romance.
A frost seemed to creep into Thaddeus‘ gaze. “It’s Bevis, isn’t it?”
“Impressive. The detective work is basically done by guessing,” Elvis taunted.
“The angle of the footage was clearly from the boardroom’s security camera. After I settled Emeric, I
immediately had Dylan delete the surveillance footage. Obviously, someone got to it first and copied
the video.”
Thaddeus‘ tone was so cold it could’ve frozen the air. “Evadne told me she had every board member
sign a non–disclosure agreement after the incident, except for Bevis. She did it deliberately, to let him
think he had the upper hand and walk into our trap. But I never expected him to leak the video. He’s
really not playing the game anymore.”
“Heh, I think he’s not playing for his life anymore.”
Elvis clenched his fist so tightly his knuckles cracked audibly, even Thaddeus could hear it clearly. “I
found the clues by cracking the IP address of the leaked video.”
“It looks like it’s time to put family loyalty aside and show that scoundrel what happens when he
messes with Emeric.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThaddeus‘ brows knitted together. “Not yet.”
“Thaddeus, you dare to challenge me? I’m Elvis!” His voice rose an octave in displeasure.
“Your father is gravely ill, Elvis, and his condition is far worse than you imagine.”
Silence fell on the other end.
“The leaked video, along with what happened to Cassius and Dr. Bright, has already struck a heavy
blow to him. If you go after Bevis now, I fear Emeric won’t be able to withstand it. I’ve seen that Emeric
places great value on family ties. Even though he’s seen through Bevis‘ actions, he’s reluctant to
punish him too harshly, always remembering their brotherly bond from their youth.”
Thaddeus patiently explained, “I know you’re out for revenge, and so am I. But right now, nothing is
more important than Emeric’s
health,”
“Cut to the chase!” Elvis snapped.
“Leave Bevis to me and Evadne. Don’t act yourself.”
Thaddeus‘ eyes flashed with a hint of ruthlessness. “We know what he cherishes most. To make him
lose what he holds dear is the ultimate revenge.”
“Haha, Thad, you’re sly!”
With an annoyed look, Thaddeus replied, “You could use a different word, like ‘wise‘ or ‘sagacious.”
“It’s the same thing, as long as you get my point.”
Elvis’s tone deepened, laced with sinister intent. “I can leave Bevis to you, but the one who framed my
brother, that’s mine to deal
with.”
“Agreed, Thaddeus said simply before ending the call.
His phone vibrated again with a message from Jareth, featuring a wide–mouthed, exaggerated emoji of
a dog:
“Seriously? Cassius is really with Dr. Bright?”
“If you’re here to gossip, please, I’m not interested.”
I’m not
“No, no, I’m just inexperienced, it’s the first time someone around me has had such an incident, I was
just wondering. When you marry Evadne, what will you calf Dr. Bright?
Sister–in–law? Damn, that’s just weird!”
Thaddeus fought the urge to roll his eyes and closed the chat box.
In another room.
Evadne sat in the lounge, repeatedly scrolling through the harsh comments online, her heart twisting in
pain, her eyes red and swollen, almost pressing hard enough to break the screen.
Arnold and Bennett stood by her side, exchanging glances, both unsettled by the situation they had
never encountered.
“Evadne, don’t let it get to you. Cassius and Dr. Bright aren’t celebrities in entertainment circles; this
gossip will fade away soon enough,” Arnold sighed, feeling a sense of injustice on his brother’s behalf.
“The attention will fade, but the shadows it casts on Cassius and Dr. Bright’s hearts will never go away.”
With her eyes closed, Evadne took a deep breath, striving for calm. “Cassius is President of the K
Group. Even though the conglomerate belongs to the Ashbourne family, this scandal will still ruin his
credibility and public image. That’s exactly what the mastermind behind the scenes wants–to ensure
Cassius can never face the public again. Chasel may not be a public figure, but the Brights are no
pushovers. Now that they know, can he ever go back home?”
The thought made her heart feel like it was about to explode.
Having been through so much together, she had come to see Chasel as family. Hearing that he had
suffered at the hands of his own family, she wanted nothing more than to confront the Brights and
dismantle those who had hurt him.
Her heart was the same as her brother’s.
She couldn’t bear to see Chasel mistreated again.
Seeing Evadne’s eyes brimming with tears, Bennett immediately knelt on one knee beside her, holding
her hand tenderly. His gaze was focused and gentle. “Don’t worry.

Dr. Bright is such a good man. If the Bright family is too blind to appreciate him, then he has a place in
our family.” “Bennett.” Evadne’s voice was soft, her eyes welling up.
“I used to wonder,” Bennett said with a light laugh, “what kind of person could match a man as
outstanding as our brother, who is so proud and lofty, almost heavenly. Now, I think that no one but Dr.
Bright is worthy of him.”
Evadne’s mind cleared as if a fog had lifted.
She remembered the times when she’d wondered why they were always joined at the hip; every time
Cassius called on, Chasel would do his utmost to help; the look in their eyes when they locked on each
other, was brimmed with unfathomable depths of emotions, like the mysterious vastness of stars
twinkling in the night sky.
It turned out, there were signs all along.
“Bennett was right! Big brother has finally found someone, and it’s a joyous occasion!”
Arnold’s face brightened, his lips spreading into a beaming smile. “Ha! Looks like one of us Emeric
boys is finally off the market. Cassius is setting a fine example for the rest of us bachelors.”
Bennett spoke with a deep sincerity, “Then you better hurry up, too. You’re not getting any younger.”
“Come on! The four of us brothers were born just minutes apart, and here you are preaching at me?
Take care of yourself. Hanging out with the lads all day, not a single lady in sight. I’m worried you’ll end
up a lonely old man.”
Bennett joked nonchalantly, “Doesn’t matter. If there are no women, then I might just choose a good–
looking man from the lot.”
Evadne and Arnold’s eyes went wide as they stretched their hands out towards him in unison, “No!
Don’t you dare!”
Just then, a light knock on the door sounded.
Arnold walked over to open the door, stopping short in surprise, “Dr. Bright?”
Hearing that Chasel had come, Evadne immediately stood up from the couch.
“Arnold, is Evadne inside?”
Chasel’s lips, parched and dry, moved with effort as he tried to voice the words, “I’d like to speak with
