Alexander's hand, which was holding onto Lily's arm, tightened. He did not want Lily to endanger her life. If he could replace Lily
and take the risk for her now, he would do it without any hesitation, but it was her the organization needed.
“They're eager forto join them because they believe | can blend the medicinal herbs and fragrances perfectly together to
achieve what they want. That's not difficult as I've succeeded several times before.
“Also, | know how to protect myself. Since they still need me, they won't hurt me. You can rest assured I'll be fine, at least during
the period when they need me.” Lily was still trying to convince Alexander.
She could have disregarded his opinions and done whatever she wanted, but she understood where he was coming from. He loved
her, so he cared so much about her safety. He was just as worried as she was when his situation was uncertain back in Burnwken.
She was emphatic because she understood his feelings exactly.

“What will happen when you've succeeded, and they don’t need you anymore?” Alexander asked in return, anxious as he softly
placed his hand on her belly.
“Plus, you're pregnant now, so it'll be inconvenient for you to move around much. You must be wary of many more things. How can
| let you get involved in something so dangerous?”
“If I had a choice, | wouldn't do it either,” Lily said bluntly. She was frank about not feeling the need to save the world by herself.
She stuck her tongue out and continued, “I don’t have a choice now since I'm already involved in it, and it's difficult to pull myself
out of the situation as well.”
Without giving Alexander a chance to speak, she continued, “I think we shouldn't be too pessimistic about this. Perhaps they're not
as hideous as we think they are.”
“That's because you don’t know what they're capable of!” Mike could not help but interrupt.
He had been a player in business for many years and had seen many things, including the influences from the people of the dark
side.
He made his way through many obstacles but was genuinely terrified of the organization, which he had no idea what they were
capable of. Most importantly, he did not know where Nick was.
“Maybe!” Lily did not argue with him and continued, “They're in desperate need of me, an insignificant person with no fto
help them now. | think they might not be that difficult to deal with.
“Since they're planning to use the vaccines to do something, why don’t we go along with their plan and turn the tables around
when the tis right? This could be a good opportunity for us too.” With her head tilted to one side, Lily was formulating a plan in
her mind.

Then she looked at Mike before averting her gaze back to Alexander. “I can produce the things they want according to their
“needs” at least.”
It was obvious that Alexander was already convinced by her. Hesitation was still evident in his gaze, but he was no longer as
determined to stop her.
Lily tugged at his sleeve with both hands and swung it lightly while she softly said, “I know you're worried about me, but have you
thought of what the organization would do if | reject them?
“To such an organization, the best thing to do to someone without any value is to destroy them!”
That stunned Alexander. “I won't allow such a thing to happen!” Subconsciously, his grip on her becfirmer while his heart
tightened.
Lily smiled and used his words against him. “How can you promise that? Don’t tellyou'll use your life and wealth to promise me
that. You're well aware that | can do that too. But nothing in this world is absolute, so regardless of my choice, the risk is there.
Why don’t | choose an option where | have more control over its consequences in that case?”
