Lily and Mike returned downstairs using another elevator. Initially, she thought they would head to the lab directly, but
unexpectedly, Mike brought her to rest first.
Lily looked around her as she walked, and sure enough, every hallway and corner was full of surveillance cameras. There were
already countless cameras within her sight, not to mention those hidden cameras in the dark.
That meant her every move was under their watch here. It would be tough for her to do anything.
Mike led the way but said nothing to her. The two stayed silent and walked to another building. Then they went upstairs again and
stopped before a door. Mike entered the password, and the door opened with a click.
Finally, he turned to look at Lily. “Con in.”

Lily looked at him hesitantly before glancing around the room. The room had simple furnishings, but it was neat and clean. All the
necessities were prepared as well. Then she looked outside the room again.
The corridor was silent, like there was no one else there. With that, she entered the room and stood still.
Mike knew she was worried and said, “This place is typically empty during the day. Everyone is busy with work and will only return
here to rest at night.”
“Everyone?” Lily asked. “You mean all the staff here aren't allowed to go home?”
“That's not it.” Mike shook his head. “If that were the case, it would quickly raise suspicions. Not all the staff here know about the
project’s core. That said, not everyone knows what this place is really doing. Plus...”
He paused before continuing, “They signed an agreement with the organization. Even if they did not know about the core of this
research, they still needed to keep their work confidential. They're aware of this.”
“So you guys took advantage of their lack of knowledge of the true meaning behind this research and made them do things
harmful to others?” Lily raised her brow, slightly furious at the thought of everyone who had been kept in the dark.
They chere thinking they were doing meaningful things, such as producing vaccines to help those affected by the plague and
to prevent it from happening again, just like all those past diseases that never resurfaced.
They had no idea that the facility they thought was helping humanity was actually studying methods of annihilation.
“You're wrong about that. It's not you guys, it's us...” Mike corrected her and said, “Regardless of your willingness, we and the

“Pfft!” Lily snorted, turning her head to the side, not wanting to admit she was part of the organization now. Even if her goal was to
tear this organization apart, her involvement in their plans still disgusted her.
Mike glanced at her and sighed. “Do you know how nervous | was earlier? All those things you said could've gotten you killed!”
“So what?” Lily was calm about it. “I'm standing here, alive and well, right?”
“That's because he still needs you now. If he doesn’t...”
“By then, he might be dead already. Or that could beas well.” Lily sneered, not taking the matter seriously.
Mike was rendered speechless by the way she acted.
