“Oh... I'm sorry.” | wish he told me. Shelby treatedwell and always madefeel

“You had a lot going on, besides Miss Linette has been taking good care of her.”

“Thank you, Patrick,” | reply. “We have two injured she-wolves who need medical care, preferably in their

quarters. | will tend to them, but | did message ahead regarding the herbs | needed?”

“All ready for you, Miss Valerie, but we do have doctors on hand. You need rest.”

“That would be great. There are a few checks | want run on one of the ladies by your doctors. and | will handle

the treatment of the other,” | say with a smile. Patrick glances furtively at

Zade.

“Of course, Doctor Scott. We will bring the ladies in,” he says, motioning to the left and | hear footsteps and see

two stretchers brought forward. Zade reaches into the back of the car taking Ada out first before he places her

on the stretcher and then lifts Adriana down. “And | will get a doctor to cright away.”

| nod as Zade grabs our luggage and locks the car.

“Do you need help... sir?” One of Atticus’ men asks him.

“I'm good,” Zade replies.

| can feel eyes on me, but tenfold more so on Zade. He keeps his hood up, although I'm certain everyone here

knows who he is, and | don’t think he’s trying to hide.

| step closer to him, taking his hand slowly and lace my fingers with his as I lead the way inside Atticus’s

mansion and upstairs, guided by Patrick.

| had already told Atticus | had two injured women with us, and he had promised he'd have rooms ready, and he

delivered. They are put in large comfortable rooms to the left of us. Zade places the bags down in our allocated

room before we head to Ada’s room.

| check in on her, telling the doctor exactly what her situation is and what tests | want to

my way run. He nods as he takes notes and I'm confident he’ll do his job. | then make Adriana’s room and I'm

relieved to see the herbs and the tools are all here for me.

I smile. | can smell Atticus’s scent from these halls and it feels homely. | might have shouted at him, but it’s

always nice to see him. | get to work applying the herb balm as Zade leans

My brother runs his fingers through his hair before smiling and approaching me. | stand up, and he hugs me, his

heart thudding oddly.

What is wrong with him?

“You ok?” | question, now feeling concerned.

“Yeah, | just... didn’t realise that you had... people who were injured this severely with you.”

| sigh as | pull away and look at Adriana.

“Yeah... this is Adriana, and her sister Ada is in the other room. Both were targeted by the

He nods at Zade’s before leaving, and | just stare questioningly at Zade.

“That was weird.’

‘Maybe he’s just throwing a tantrum since you didn’t take his calls earlier?”

‘No... that's... | don’t know.’ | shake my head, realising | didn’t even get to ask how his mom was doing. Maybe

he’ just stressed and tired.

Once I'm done with Adriana, | sigh a breath of relief. Her fever was already going down, and she looked calmer,

too. By tomorrow evening, I'm certain she’ll be much, much better.
