Oswald announced, “It is proven that the external disciple, Jonathan Lawson, had committed thievery by stealing the raw stone in Master Gideon's possessions. As such, he will be served the death penalty, and it will take effect immediately. Enforcers, escort the criminal to the execution site and deliver him to the execution team for his execution!” With that said, Oswald signed the papers.
Two law enforcers donning black robes walked up to Jonathan and started transferring him immediately.
At that moment, Jonathan was downright calm. He did not kick up a fuss nor fall onto the ground strengthless. Instead, his steely gaze scanned the surrounding before he burst into laughter. “So this is Divine Realm and The Inquisition? Hahaha! So that's who you truly are! Divine Emperor, you're nothing but a hoax! If the rest of your men are exactly the same as these fools, | suppose the faith you absorbed is nothing but lowly!” Hearing that, the expression of Oswald and the others
twisted immediately. They did not expect Jonathan to be brave enough to question Divine Emperor.
In the meantime, Lailah and Yuna could only watch helplessly, for they were too powerless to do anything.
They were far too weak before the entire Divine Realm.
Though Yuna had feelings for Jonathan, her feelings for him were not strong enough to have her sacrifice herself to save Jonathan.
“There will be no more miracles.” Gabriel watched indifferently. “You can finally die now, right?” Suddenly, a mighty voice rang out from the outside. “Stop!” ‘When Jonathan heard the voice, he trembled in shock and failed to suppress the joy overwhelming him.
The owner of the voice was none other than Lance Cadman.
Frost was the first one to step out. “Who are you? Show yourself, coward!” Donning white robes, Lance, Emperor of Chanaea,
emerged majestically.
As gentle as ever, Lance's expression remained unchanged. He calmly walked into The Inquisition before stopping at the hall's center, much to Oswald, Richard, Gideon, and the elders’ surprise. The expressions of some of the inner disciples personally taught by Divine Emperor changed drastically too.
As for people like Frost, they had no idea what was going on as they had no idea who Lance was.
However, they could tell that the newly arrived man was not to be messed around with, judging by the situation.
Lance turned toward Frost and asked calmly, “Who were you calling a coward? Was it me?” The simple question had Frost drenched in his own sweat out of panic. Words eluded him at that moment.
“Hahaha! If I'm a coward, then what are you? You are ata loss for words before my presence!”
On the other side, Gideon took a deep breath, rose to his feet, and said, “Lance, you're a senior, one who is greatly powerful and ambitious, so it doesn't look good to bully a junior.” Lance turned toward Gideon and replied coldly, “Who do you think you are? You have no right to lecture me about virtue when you, as one of Divine Realm's masters, grew greedy and robbed an external disciple of his raw stone.
‘You even bribed Oswald and the others into setting Jonathan up! You're not qualified to be a master!” The crowd flew into an uproar instantly.
“How dare you!” bellowed Gideon solemnly.
Lance laughed out loud. “Gideon Carnell, | suppose you've lost yourself after leading years of luxurious life! How dare you condemn me when all | did was merely criticize you? So what if even | slapped you?” Smack! A crisp, loud sound split the air.
A clear palm print was seen on Gideon's face while
Jonathan cheered inwardly.
Lance then looked toward Gideon indifferently and said, “Are you going to say anything now?” Gideon's eyes flashed with a wave of extreme anger in that split second. After all these years of being at the top of the hierarchy, humiliation like that was the first for him.
Yet, he was afraid of Lance, for Lance was the legendary Emperor of Chanaea.
Back in the pinnacle of his days when he dominated the lands alongside Demon Emperor and Asura Emperor, Gideon was nothing more than just a pawn.
Seeing how fear had Gideon too immobilized to retaliate, Lance turned toward Oswald and the other elders condescendingly.
“Oswald, don't you know you're supposed to show me respect?” Lance said.
On the other hand, Nero stood up and chimed in, “Lance, it seems like you're still as grumpy and impatient as ever
after all these years.” Lance smiled in response. “Sit down, Nero. You've shamed Divine Emperor for what you've done today. I'll deal with you later after I'm done with Oswald.
Then, he called out, “Get down here at once, Oswald!" Oswald slowly shifted his gaze to Lance and replied, “Lance, you're not an elder to me. You're at most only a senior to all of us. Besides, I'm the chief officer of The Inquisition. You've crossed the line when you kicked up a fuss like that. However, I'll let you off this time because you're a senior. Now, leave.” Lance shook his head at Oswald's words and replied, “So, it seems like you're all too full of yourselves. This is outrageous! I'll only say this one more time. Get down here!” “And what are you planning to do if | don't?” Oswald jumped up from his seat angrily.
At the same time, Gideon stood up and quickly moved behind Lance. “Respected elders, Lance has crossed the line! He has completely disregarded Divine Emperor's honor and disrespected all of us! We must take him down and sentence him for his crimes!” Hearing that, Nero and the other elders sprang to their feet.
Richard, too, rose to his feet, but his words came out displeasingly to the others. “Ladies and gentlemen, I'm in Lance's debt, for he had guided me in my training back then. If you insist on arresting him, | will do everything | can to stop you.” The expression of Gideon and the others twisted at his statement while Lance laughed happily. “Richard, it seems like 1 was not wrong about you. I, however, do not need your help today. | may be just a clone, but these fools are far too weak to be a threat to me!” Jonathan and the others were stunned at his words.
What's happening? A clone? So this is not Emperor of
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtChanaea himself? Da*n! Mr. Cadman's clone alone is almost invincible. | wonder what would happen if he were here today! Oswald, however, couldn't be bothered and acted right away.
With a flip of his palm, he revealed the Shadow Punch totem in his palm.
Made from unique materials, the totem also had the blood energy of an ancient being imprinted on it. With the totem in possession, one could swiftly merge the magnetic force.
As soon as he made his move, Oswald unleashed Umbral Trespass, his strongest move on Lance.
With his palm glowing, Oswald disrupted the magnetic field before slamming his palm onto Lance.
In that split second, the blade-like sphere spun quickly and flew straight toward Lance with tremendous momentum that could easily shatter steel.
‘When Oswald moved, so did Nero. He cast the Finger of Death in an instant.
His weapon was a jade ruler. With his finger extended out, he unleashed a powerful beam.
Equipping the Banner of Conflagration, Gideon too, launched an attack.
With mana channeled into the banner, Gideon swung his banner and slammed it toward Lance.
The elders in the hall had also acted in unison, unleashing their wrath upon Lance.
At that moment, all Jonathan and the other disciples could do was watch in awe and horror.
After all, such a battle was on par with a battle between the ancient ones. It was far beyond what they could fathom.
Standing in the line of fire, Lance was trapped in a dangerous situation.
Located right in the center, any wrong move would mean death.
At that moment, Lance's form suddenly dispersed.
“Hmph! Do you think you could win against me? How naive!” Lance's voice echoed across the hall.
At the same time, his body turned into a black mist.
After all, he was not here today. The Lance standing right before them was just a clone.
It was somewhat like the soul.
The black mist suddenly surged into the air while all the weapons followed after the black mist.
In a blink of an eye, the black mist turned into a vast universe of stars.
The stars started moving in one direction, slowly circled in the air, and formed a whirlpool.
It was Soul Vortex, a killer move Lance created, a move capable of disintegrating souls.
Like a black hole in The Void, Soul Vortex hung high in the air.
In fact, that was a move that Lance had created based on the black holes in The Void after carefully observing them.
Within seconds, all the weapons and attacks were pulled into the vortex.
They disintegrated and became one with the vortex seconds later.
As that happened, Jonathan, who stood some distance away from the vortex, could tell that there was a mysterious power that was trying to pull his soul out of his body.
How terrifying! Oswald and the others could only watch in horror.
After disintegrating the weapons and attacks, the vortex vanished, and Lance took form again. With a cold gaze, he scanned the hall and said, “You think of me as nothing more than just a senior. You think you could win against me by teaming up, but you have no idea. You only knew that every increase in your strength is significant when you achieve what | have achieved! That is why | said you're too arrogant! With that attitude and mindset, you'll never glimpse the true quintessence of power!”
Facing his words, Oswald and the others turned pale, and they were at a loss for words.
Lance added, “I would have struck all of you down right here, but | can't because of Divine Emperor. You're here to manage the Divine Realm on his behalf, so I'd be provoking him if | killed all of you. Hence, consider yourselves lucky.” ‘When he spoke, he spoke in a manner as if he was standing on equal ground with Divine Emperor. There was simply no fear and respect in his words.
“Gideon, surrender the raw stone,” Lance demanded.
Words eluded Gideon when Lance's pressure was on his shoulders. He stuttered for a moment before he took out the raw stone.
As soon as he took the stone out, Lance took it from him and said, “This raw stone is something from the Holy Chest. Gideon, you'll never have a glimpse of the truth with your capabilities. My advice is for you to stop trying to get your hands on it.” Lance paused for a moment and added, “Richard!”
Snapping out of it, Richard walked up to him. “Yes, Lance.” “I knew you were a man of justice back then, and | was right. After the commotion | caused today, there will be no more place for Jonathan in Gideon's faction, so | want to place Jonathan under your command. What say you?”
Richard hurriedly replied, “And that will be my pleasure.
However, we'd need Gideon's consent.” “Any objection?” Lance tumed to Gideon and asked.
Gideon, who had lost his courage, dared not voice any objections and gave in quickly. “Your wish is my command!” “Problem solved!” Lance turned toward Richard and smiled.
“Understood!” “Mr. Cadman!” Jonathan chimed in.
Lance smiled faintly. “I suppose | made it in time.” “Thank you for rescuing me, Mr. Carman.” “Don't mention it,” Lance replied with a smile.
At that moment, Gabriel was, perhaps, the one with the most complicated feelings.
Depressed and discouraged, Gabriel cursed inwardly at Jonathan's absurd good luck.
He never thought Jonathan could walk away unscathed from such a dire situation, let alone be on good terms with
‘someone like Emperor of Chanaea.
All my attempts to kill Jonathan had failed badly. | should stop plotting against him now, or | might get myself killed sooner or later. Gabriel came to a realization that he had to stop.
It was the same for Jeremy. He was so stunned that he dared not bear any ill intentions toward Jonathan anymore.
On the other hand, Jonathan, of course, had no idea about what they were brewing in their mind. He said, “Mr.
Cadman, | have a request.” “What is it?” Lance was gentle and calm.
Jonathan said, “I'm afraid that the petty Gideon will be giving Lailah and Yuna a hard time in the future for standing up for me. Could you please have Master Richard take them in too?” “Hmmm. You're right. There's also your wife and your fellow brothers. Let's have all of them placed under Richard's guidance too.”
On the other hand, Richard was over the moon to be able to recruit more capable subordinates. However, given that i was inappropriate to express his joy openly, he put up an act and said, “Lance, this is...” “Is that okay?” Lance turned toward Gideon again.
Anger flashed across Gideon's eyes, but he suppressed it forcefully in the end.
After all, there was nothing he could do when powerful ones like Oswald and the elders kept mum.
“Fine!” Gideon gritted his teeth.
“Good. Then, it's all set! Now, open your mouth, Jon,” Lance said Jonathan immediately did as he said.
With a flick, Lance shot a pill into Jonathan's mouth.
With the pill in his mouth, Jonathan quickly swallowed it, and the next thing he felt was a burning sensation spreading all over his body.
At the same time, his vitality came to a boiling point,
replenishing all of his strength in a blink of an eye.
Jonathan's eyes lit up brightly, and he felt much better at that.
Meanwhile, Lailah and Yuna experienced a wave of complicated feelings, but they held no second opinion on joining Richard's faction.
Compared to Lailah, Yuna had always held Gideon in high regard and respected him greatly.
Yet, whatever happened recently had traumatized her. After seeing the true colors of Gideon and Frost, the disappointed Yuna wanted to leave Gideon's faction.
“Please return my Ninth Immortality Pills,” Jonathan said to Oswald after getting down from the platform.
At that, Oswald's heart was broken, for they agreed that the Ninth Immortality Pills would be his when he struck a deal with Gideon.
Yet, he had no choice but to surrender the pills.
While cursing at Gideon inwardly, Oswald kept a calm
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmexpression and said, “Enforcers!” The law enforcers immediately got out.
“Return the Ninth Immortality Pills to him,” Oswald ordered.
“Yes, Master.” Soon, the Ninth Immortality Pills were given back to Jonathan, to which he heaved a sigh of relief.
After that, Lance said, “Let's go.” As he walked out, Jonathan, Lailah, Yuna, and Richard followed behind him.
The disciples of Richard's faction too followed suit, and they quickly got out of The Inquisition.
It was already one o'clock in the afternoon by then.
The sunlight was supposedly blinding bright, but at that moment, the sunlight was warm and gentle. It was the best time to sunbathe.
Jonathan showered himself in the sunlight. The haunting experience throughout that period was definitely unforgettable. He had had enough of the despair and
hopelessness.
He swore that he would never place himself in such a situation anymore.
At that time, Richard politely said, “Lance, let's have some tea at the Chard Hall.” “Thanks, but no thanks. It is time for me to leave,” Lance replied, waving a dismissive hand.
“So quick?” “It can't be helped. There's something that | have to attend to. | would have been long gone if it weren't for Jon. My origin body's primordial spirit ran into some troubles in The Void, so my presence is needed.” “Understood. I'll see you out,” Richard replied.
“It's fine. I'll be gone after telling Jonathan something,” Lance said with a smile.
“Okay.” At that, Lance turned to Jonathan and said, “Jon, walk with
me for a moment.” “My pleasure, Mr. Cadman,” Jonathan replied. He was so grateful for all Lance had done for him. Before he left, he bowed at Richard and said, “Master Richard, I'll be back shortly to pay my respect.” Richard returned him with a smile and said, “It's fine. I'm not Gideon, so you don't have to be so cautious.” Hearing that, Jonathan felt a little relieved.
He then left with Lance.
Upon exiting Divine Realm, both of them headed toward Mount Frallein.
The path to Mount Frallein was decorated beautifully with fallen leaves. The sweet smell of parasol trees filled the air as the sunray shined brightly on the track.
The scenery was breathtaking. It was an indescribably beautiful sight.
“Mr. Cadman, you're still here because you've anticipated
this?” Jonathan asked.
“I deduced that you'll be in grave danger when | observed there was a dark patch in between your eyebrows and how you were haunted by a black murderous aura back then.
However, | also noticed a glint of purple glow in the murderous aura, and purple represents good luck in the legends. It signifies that you'll turn the danger into good luck.” “Well, I'm lucky because you came to my help, Mr.
Cadman.” “That's right. However, | find it difficult to leave just like that just because | know you'll escape the danger unscathed.
The cycle of fate is indeed miraculous.” “Anyway, I'm still in your debt, Mr. Cadman. Thank you.” “Let's skip these unnecessary courtesies. | wouldn't have helped you if all | wanted from you was your gratitude.” “Mr. Cadman, I'll do my best to repay you.” “You're a talented young man, and this is why | decided to
invest in you. One day, perhaps, you will become a prominent figure capable of many things. Now, this is what | call interesting.” Lance paused for a moment. “Also, Jon, I'll be leaving. | need to return to my original body's primordial spirit as it is now caught in a wave of meteors, unable to unshackle itself. When | return, | might return only after centuries or even millenniums later, for the way time works in The Void is entirely different. An hour in The Void is equivalent to seven years in this world. It's all about the theory of relativity. However, Chanaea is where | was birthed and raised. For this reason, Chanaea and even Earth weighed heavily in my heart. Jon, the Great Tribulation is bound to happen. Desolation and massacre would descend, paving the way to chaos. When that happens, the foreigners will definitely pounce at Chanaea greedily. | need you to stand up and shoulder the responsibility of protecting our land in the future.” “Mr. Cadman, as long as I'm alive, | will ensure Chanaea is safe from harm. | will strike every invader down! I'll do what you've been doing!”
“Good. You may not be the most brilliant among the Chosen Ones, but you're the most virtuous one from my point of view. | also hold you in high regard. If a person is talented but lacks discipline and manners, he would be the next Tristan Cadman. The stronger he gets, the greater the threat he poses. The likes of Gideon and Oswald may be crooked, but they are not particularly powerful, rendering them unable to cause much of a problem. Remember, being virtuous with hardly any talent is all right. Being virtuous and talented is fantastic. Being talented yet wicked is terrible while being wicked and talentless is worthless.
Jonathan remembered Lance's words dearly. He also recalled the times when he narrowly escaped death throughout his journey. Though he was lucky in a way, his luck was tightly tied to his ethics and morals.
If he did not take pity on Alicia, he wouldn't have gotten his hands on Lunar Pendant. If he didn't run into Lance and attracted Lance's attention with his ethics, he wouldn't have survived.
Be righteous, and you'll never be alone. Be wicked, and
you'll be left alone. Justice never dies, and it shall prevail! In that instant, Jonathan came to a realization.
At that moment, Lance retrieved the raw stone and delivered it to Jonathan. “Here, this is for you.” That stunned Jonathan slightly before he replied, “No, Mr.
Cadman. With my strength right now, I'm not worthy enough for the raw stone. Could you please keep it safe for me?” Surprised by his answer, Lance said, “You want me to keep it safe for you? But | have no idea when | will come back.
Maybe you're not even alive anymore by then.” “That's completely all right. However, knowing that your trip will be dangerous, | hope this raw stone will come in handy should you need it, Mr. Cadman.” “Interesting. Gideon wanted this so desperately, and you gave it to me without hesitation.” Lance smiled.
“Maybe this is what you call virtue. | believe in you, Mr.
Cadman, so I'll gladly oblige even if you send
me to my demise! | will not let you down!” Touched, Lance said, “Virtue is a man's most priceless treasure, yet most will give it up for their benefit. Little did they know that they were giving up something precious by doing so.” Lanced paused for a brief moment and continued, “Hmmm. | can't be taking advantage of you, either way. I'll give you something in return.” That said, he retrieved something from his sleeves and delivered it to Jonathan.
