The old man sneered, “Ordained by the heavens? No one's truly ordained by the heavens. Luck will change. Once you have suffered too many setbacks, the Heavenly Law will go along with the flow. If | had snatched your luck, then it would become my luck. In response, the Heavenly Law will begin backing me up and stop helping you.” Jonathan froze, for he understood what the old man said was the truth.
Their turbulent world could be viewed as a television show.
The Chosen Ones were the protagonists, while the others were merely side characters.
In that sense, the Heavenly Law was the director.
What was different about that television show compared to others was that it didn't abide by the principles of karma or any morality system.
The protagonist that the Heavenly Law desired didn't necessarily have to be an agent of justice.
They just had to be suitable.
“What kind of organization is Eonetara?” Jonathan inquired.
With a cold grin, the old man replied, “You've asked that question multiple times in the Void Domain before. We didn't tell you then, and we certainly won't tell you now.
Accidents may occur before you die, so we absolutely won't spill our secrets to you.” It wasn't difficult for Jonathan to figure out his enemies were meticulous.
“We've investigated you before. You have a close relationship with Mabel of the sixth division. Additionally, your luck has been pretty good. Every time Gabriel tried to kill you, you always managed to escape. Although, | am curious about something. Since we're going to take your destiny, luck, and maybe even your life this time, | wonder what other miracle can you perform to get yourself out of this situation?” Still staring at the old man, Jonathan spat, “I've broken your Void Domain. What other techniques do you have to absorb my destiny and luck?”
“We still have Trifecta Formation. Once we utilize this formation, we'll be able to absorb them by force.” “If you could've forcefully sucked my luck and destiny away, why did you use Void Domain before?” “You're a very curious fellow. Why ask so many questions when you're going to die either way?” A bitter smile formed on Jonathan's face. *I'm not afraid of death, but | am afraid of dying without knowing anything.” “While | can't reveal many things to you, | can still tell you this. Trifecta Formation is too overbearing. The amount of luck it can suck out forcefully is a lot less compared to the Void Domain. Thus, | don't want to use it unless | have no other options.” Jonathan blinked and murmured, “Not only do you lot want my luck and destiny, but you also want Otto to swindle a massive amount of money. It seems like your organization is expecting a grand battle during the Great Tribulation.” After gazing at Jonathan profoundly, a look of suspicion flashed past the old man's eyes. “You're about to die, yet
you persist in your effort to uncover our secrets. Why? Could it be that you have a way to get out of here?” The same bitter grin returned to Jonathan's face. “You really are cautious. Right now, I'm no different from a fish on the chopping board. | simply want to know more about the circumstances regarding my death before | bite the dust. One day, when you're in my shoes, you'll know how | feel.” Even the old man couldn't help but agree with his sentiment. I'm probably just being paranoid.
Jonathan asked, “Can | know who was the one playing the role of Orcus inside the Void Domain?” “She's our saintess, and she's not here right now. You'll never be able to see her.” “Saintess?” Jonathan found it odd. “Is Eonetara really an organization or actual hell?” Coldly, the old man rejected, “I can't tell you that.” “If you're afraid to tell me, this means your organization's
not strong enough, am | right? That's why you lot are hiding in the shadows, deathly afraid of exposing yourselves.” The old man remained unwavering. “Think what you will.” He paused before continuing, “Stop talking nonsense and prepare to accept your fate.” With that, he turned to the young men behind him. “Prepare the Trifecta Formation!” “Understood!” the young men responded politely.
Soon, they formed a triangle and surrounded Jonathan in the middle.
Upon sweeping his gaze past the three of them, Jonathan exclaimed, “Wait!” The old man stared at him and warned, “This is your last chance to speak. Any last words?” An eerie grin formed on Jonathan's face. “That's what | want to say to you, t00.” A puzzled expression settled on the old man's and his follower's faces.
The former asked, “What do you mean?” In response, Jonathan sneered, “It's a shame that you don't know enough about me. | was going to bait you to tell me more, but it seems like that's not going to happen. In that case, it's time for you all to die!” Without delay, he started chanting a spell.
The members of Eonetara stared at him, shocked. What the heck is he doing? What's going on? Does he think he can scare us with a spell? This isn't a world of magic! They almost thought Jonathan was going crazy.
However, they soon realized something was off.
A brilliant light suddenly burst out of Jonathan's chest, which was followed by the appearance of a figure in the air.
That figure was the Emperor of Chanaea, Lance.
Lance was wearing a snow-white robe and exuding an ethereal aura.
He glanced solemnly at Jonathan and the members of Eonetara.
The old man paled when he saw who the figure was. “It's him!” Perplexed, the young men asked, “Do you know him?” “He used to—" The old man abruptly shut his mouth, afraid that he would accidentally reveal some hidden secret.
Meanwhile, Lance started chanting, “God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. Then God said, ‘Let there be sky and earth,’ and there was sky and earth. God said, ‘Everything in this world is created by me. | can provide just as well as | can take away.’ Then God said, ‘Light is good.
Let it be split from the darkness,’ and there was day and night. God said, ‘Let there be stars in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years," and there was time.” Without stopping, he continued, “Then God said, "This world is too simple. Let it have life. Should they betray me, they shall return to me. Be not afraid. Be not suspicious. Be not lost. Everything has been foreordained as | see
everything. Murder is one of twelve sins, for life is free.
Whatever shall plunge life into the darkness of death is deemed an untenable sin. Fear not, for | shall cleanse it, as no darkness exists in eternal under the light." God said, Worship me, and you shall obtain light. Betray me, and you shall bathe in the flame of my divine fury. | permit the existence of darkness, but it shall never rule over the light, for | will purge it if it does.” When the chanting was over, Lance glanced at the members of Eonetara and uttered slowly, “Let the darkness be cleansed!” A golden light promptly appeared and gradually wrapped the trio from head to toe.
The part of their bodies that was wrapped in the golden light would eventually turn golden. It was then the old man's expression became exceptionally grim, for he couldn't dodge or avoid the attack.
Soon after, their bodies were completely shrouded in golden light before they melted into a puddle of golden
liquid.
Jonathan was stunned when he saw that because he didn't expect Lance's technique to be that powerful. The three of them didn't even have the chance to fight back! Seconds later, Lance progressively faded away until he vanished completely.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe golden badge in front of Jonathan's chest soon lost its luster.
It pained him to see that. Godd*mmit! | can't believe | accidentally stumbled into a dangerous situation and wasted the protective badge Mr. Cadman gifted me! Holding the golden badge in his hand, he felt no spirit ‘emanating from the item any longer. It had become an ordinary object.
‘When he swept his gaze past Briana and the others, he saw they were still in a coma.
Tired and hungry, Jonathan was barely able to exert any strength.
He was aware he couldn't stay in the room for long. After all, it was likely Eonetara had other members. Or perhaps the saintess the old man spoke of might come to visit. If anyone attacked him in his current condition, he would be dead.
With great effort, Jonathan got off the bed and arrived at the door.
Thankfully, he didn't have too much trouble walking normally.
Upon opening the door, he stepped out and noticed he was in a warehouse.
The surrounding sight was foreign to him, and his phone was gone. Thus, he couldn't contact Mabel at all.
Hastily, Jonathan left the warehouse.
Outside the entrance, a wooded path connected the warehouse to a busy city.
When he saw the familiar sight of a city, he felt grateful to be alive.
Without delay, Jonathan trudged into the city and hailed a taxi.
After he entered the vehicle, the driver asked, “Where to?” Jonathan was stunned. Oh yeah, where should | go? | have no idea how many experts from Eonetara are in the city, not to mention I'm weak right now. This situation is dire! After a brief moment of contemplation, he requested, “Can you lend me your phone so | can make a call?” The driver gave him a weird stare. “Don't you have one?” “I was robbed. There's nothing on me right now, not even a phone.” That only made the driver even more upset. “What the heck? Why did you hail a taxi when you have nothing on you? Get out of my car right now. Don't bother me while I'm trying to make a living.” Jonathan couldn't blame the driver for being angry. After all, it wasn't easy for anyone to make a living.
Hence, he proposed, “How about this? Let me make a call
with your phone, and I'll ask my friend to transfer you one hundred thousand. Once it's done, you just need to give me twenty thousand. The rest is yours to keep. What do you think?”
The taxi driver stared at Jonathan in disbelief. He was afraid that he would get scammed by the latter. “Are you sure?” Jonathan was at a loss for words. He then said, “I'm just borrowing your phone. I'm not asking you for money. I'll return your phone to you after I'm done with my call. What's there to be afraid of?” The taxi driver appeared to be convinced by his words. Oh well, I'l just lend it to him. | have to take risks to get rich after all! With that thought in mind, the taxi driver gritted his teeth before handing his phone over.
Jonathan took the phone and said, “If you don't unlock your phone, | can only access your emergency hotlines.
The taxi driver laughed sheepishly before unlocking his phone for Jonathan.
Jonathan held the phone in his hands and hesitated. Who should | call? | should probably call Mabel. However, if | implicate her in this case, there will be many risks and
uncertainties.
Naturally, the next person he thought of was Jennifer.
There was a part of him that yeamed to contact the woman.
In the end, he called Jennifer.
The call was connected shortly after.
A cold voice that Jonathan was familiar with sounded out.
“Hello? Who's this?” Jonathan took a deep breath before saying, “Hello, Jennifer. It's me.” The person's voice on the other end changed and held a trace of agitation. However, she tried to suppress her emotions.
“Jonathan? You've changed your number? Why do you have the time to call me today? | had thought that you had forgotten about me and your friends in Horington.” Jennifer tried her best to pretend that everything was normal. She tried to talk to him like she was chatting with a
friend.
However, turbulent emotions still overtook her.
Jonathan lowered his voice and said, “Jennifer. Please listen to me. I've encountered some trouble and | can't contact anyone else. | borrowed this phone from a taxi driver. Please transfer a hundred thousand to a bank account. I'll message you the bank account number using this phone number. Is that all right?” Jennifer was shocked. She replied, “Don't worry about the money. How are you doing?” Jonathan said, “I'm fine now. After | have settled this matter, I'll contact you again, all right?” Naturally, Jennifer agreed.
Thereafter, she hung up.
He did not call her “Jen,” anymore as he had already made up his mind.
After undergoing so many life-threatening situations, those values that constrained him slowly faded away.
After hanging up, Jonathan said to the taxi driver, “Send your bank account number to this number.” The taxi driver tried to control his happiness and immediately sent the bank account number over. He then turned to Jonathan and asked, “Will | really receive the money?” Jonathan smiled faintly. “Why are you always so suspicious?” An embarrassed smile appeared on the taxi driver's face.
“Well, a hundred thousand is not a small sum!” Jonathan said, “You have to look at things from different perspectives. Perhaps that sum is not a small sum to you, but to me, it's merely enough to purchase a glass of wine.” The taxi driver's gaze was instantly filled with admiration.
At that moment, the money was transferred into the taxi driver's bank account.
‘When the taxi driver saw the number, he was so excited that he did not know what to say. “Oh my goodness! It's two hundred thousand!”
The taxi driver was in his forties and was old enough to be Jonathan's uncle. Yet, when he saw the money, he was so elated that he yelped childishly with happiness written all over his face.
Jonathan did not know whether he should laugh or cry. He said, “Okay, I'm a little hungry now. You've got the money.
So how about this? I'll give you a hundred and fifty thousand, and | will take fifty thousand. Please bring me ‘somewhere to eat and buy a phone for me. Then, let me stay in your home for a night. What do you say?” “No problem!” The taxi driver beamed happily.
The sudden windfall had made him forget about everything else. He did not consider if Jonathan would pose a threat to him or not.
Soon, he drove Jonathan to a place to eat.
“What do | call you?” Jonathan asked.
The taxi driver replied, “My name is Monroe Linneman. You can just call me Mon. How about you?”
Jonathan chuckled before saying, “My name is Jonathan Lawson.” “That's a nice name!” Monroe tried to flatter Jonathan.
“Oh? Why's that?” Jonathan asked.
Monroe froze. He was only saying it on a whim, and he did not know how to answer Jonathan's question. A moment later, he said, “You have so much money! Naturally, your name is good because it brings you luck!” Jonathan could not help but burst out laughing once more.
What the hell? What kind of logic is this? “By the way, what would you like to eat, Mr. Lawson?” Monroe asked awkwardly. He was not used to using such formal terms.
Jonathan felt awkward, too. “Monroe, you can just call me Jonathan.” After pondering for a moment, he said, “Let's eat beef stew.” “Sure!” Monroe said.
He then brought Jonathan to a restaurant that sold beef stew. It was half past two in the afternoon, and there were not many people in the restaurant.
After Jonathan and Monroe went into the restaurant, the waiter immediately walked over to escort them in.
Jonathan asked, “Is there a private room available?” “Yes,” the waiter replied.
Jonathan said, “Please lead us to a private room, then.” “Of course, sir!” the waiter replied.
The two men trailed after the waiter and entered the private room. Jonathan immediately ordered, “Please get me some yogurt and a bottle of water. Also, please serve some food staples first. Kindly serve it to me within two minutes.” The food that Jonathan requested was ready-made. As such, when the waiter heard his words, he simply nodded and went out.
Two minutes later, a cup of yogurt, a bottle of water, and
‘some bread were laid spread out on the table.
Jonathan pried open the cup of yogurt and ate it in one gulp.
His body had been deprived of food and nutrients for too long. If it weren't for his high cultivation, he would have died, and he would not have been able to endure for so long.
The yogurt entered his body and the cells in his body as well as his organs absorbed the nutrients he needed immediately.
Jonathan then devoured the plate of bread in less than a minute before drinking the bottle of water.
After doing so, he felt much better.
‘When people starved, their digestive system would undergo a major change. It was easy for an accident to occur if a normal starving person ate too quickly.
However, Jonathan had strong organs and could adjust his body accordingly, so nothing bad happened to him.
Monroe and the waiter gawked at Jonathan in shock as the man wolfed down his food ravenously. How long he without food? Soon, Jonathan felt much better. He could feel warmth and vitality start to circulate through his body.
He took a deep breath and smiled at Monroe before saying, “Monroe, I'll start ordering food now. You have been warned.” Monroe laughed and replied, “Feel free to order as much as you wish!” He did not think that Jonathan could eat much.
After all, compared to the one hundred and fifty thousand he earned, a meal cost a mere pittance.
Jonathan immediately ordered meatballs, eggs, beef stew, and many other dishes.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAfter listening to him, the waiter asked in confusion, “Sir, are you sure that the two of you can finish the food?” Jonathan replied in all seriousness, “I'm sure.”
The waiter did not say anything more. He turned around and left.
Jonathan immediately turned to Monroe and said, “Monroe, please help me purchase a phone. | don't care about the brand, but it has to be of decent quality. You can deduct the money from my fifty thousand. And do get a SIM card for me as well. Is that okay?” Monroe replied, “Sure!” Jonathan gave an awkward chuckle and added, “By the way, I'm rather famished right now, so I'll start eating first without waiting for you.” Monroe waved his hand and said, “No problem! Do as you wish!” Thereafter, he went to settle the matters that Jonathan had requested of him.
Soon after, a piping hot beef stew was served.
Other dishes soon arrived.
Jonathan started eating.
An hour later, he finished all the food.
Even so, he was still starving.
However, it was something he could not control.
Jonathan knew that the nutrients his body needed were a colossal amount. Ordinary food was not enough to satiate his hunger.
Previously, he had felt fine as he used the elixir pill, and his body had stored some nutrients.
However, after being captured by Eonetara, all of the nutrient reserves in his body had been depleted completely.
Jonathan inhaled and sat cross-legged.
Although he had some nutrients in his body, there was ‘some unwanted waste in his body as well. That would affect his body, and he had to excrete it immediately.
Such was the strength of a professional!
People like Jonathan would not accumulate unhealthy fats and toxins in their bodies no matter what they ate.
Jonathan sucked in a deep breath and gathered all the toxins in his body in one go.
A moment later, he felt the need to use the toilet.
He immediately threw open the door to the private room and dashed into the toilet.
Ten minutes later, Jonathan walked out of the toilet.
His vitality had been restored to peak condition.
However, he still felt extremely hungry. It seemed that his cells were still not satisfied.
If he did not settle this problem, he would not be able to reach the Celestial Soul level.
The only way he could satiate his hunger was to consume the Immortal Pill.
In such a case, he would not be able to satisfy the cells in his body even if he ate the Spirit Gathering Pill.
Jonathan was determined to get the prismatic crystal. He was afraid that Briana would lose it.
Hold on! He suddenly realized that something was wrong.
‘When he called Victor earlier on, Victor had said that Briana had gotten hold of the prismatic crystal. However, everything had occurred in the Void Domain. As such, Jonathan could not be sure what the actual situation was.
He also did not know if Eonetara had gotten the prismatic crystal.
Just then, Monroe came back with a phone.
He had gotten a large-screen phone that was easy to use.
Jonathan took the phone from Monroe and got him to foot the bill. Thereafter, the two men walked out of the restaurant.
After walking out of the restaurant, Jonathan got onto Monroe's taxi again.
Monroe asked, “Jonathan... Sir, where should we go next?” Jonathan replied, “To Victory Enterprise.” A moment later,
he asked, “What date is it today?” Monroe replied, “It's the twenty-seventh of March.” What the hell? Half a month has already passed. It was the twelfth of March when | started the mission and got rid of Otto that night. Eonetara soon rushed over to avenge him. | wonder what methods did they use to make me remain in slumber and not realize that anything was wrong? ‘When Jonathan thought about it, there was lingering fear in his heart.
